i'm updating my previous review which was not great because the paperwork from my last visit indicated that something has been done incorrectly. I'm not sure that's actually true. since then I had a different problem arise and was told by several shops that the transmission needed to be replaced I wasn't convinced of that. Ace checked it out thoroughly and determined that the trans axle was the problem so they replaced it. Just picked up my Forrester and I'm driving home so far it feels wonderful thanks again to Ace and to the sharp young man who actually worked on the Forrester; I regret not getting his name. he's definitely earned their five stars and I am a happy driver! read more

This is my first one star review ever. I brought my 2016 QX60 for brake replacement here. After a month of driving the brakes start to make noise. I brought it back to see what's going on. They looked at it and said your pads are worn out, need to be replaced. I told them that I replaced it here about a month ago. They said something like you may be braking often. The next day I went to another mechanic and when they checked the brakes, they said the pads are on 80%, but the rotors are bad and they need to be replaced. I didn't learn from my first experience and I went there again for my 2014 QX60 hybrid. The car hybrid system was overheating when stuck in stop and go traffic for sometime. They replaced the water pump and thermostat. After a couple days of driving, the car again gave me the same warning "Hybrid System Overheated". I brought the car again. They checked and said the new water pump is leaking. They used silicon to block the leaking which as per my search was not recommended, but guess what that didn't fix the problem either. The car still had the same problem and I once again brought it back to the shop. This time they said that it might be a head gasket and it would cost me about $4000. I asked them if there is a leak in the head gasket or if the oil is foamy which are the signs of a bad head gasket. They said no. So then why do you think it is the head gasket? They said if the water pump hasn't fixed the problem, this is the next step. Long story short, after doing some search on my own, it turned out to be the inverter cooling pump. No engine waterpump, no thermostat, no head gasket. read more

The customer service and quality is incomparable and they know literally everything about my BMW. I fully trust these mechanics--and that's not a common phrase from anyone I don't think. They're always friendly, honest, reasonable, cost conscious, and extremely helpful. Like... every single time. For YEARS! I think the second time I brought my car here, I noticed one day that my AC wasn't working, so without calling or anything, I dropped in (with my kids in tow) and let them know what was going on. They checked my car and let me and my two crazy kids hangout in the office while they took a look. 30 minutes later, I was driving away with a working AC, and he refused to charge me for the work. I couldn't believe that as I was still a new customer at that point. I've been in several times since that visit, and I will ONLY bring my car here from now on. I was very pleased with my car service at Ace Auto Care. Safi was very professional and explained in detail how they would perform the routine 145K service for my Lexus. I made and appointment and dropped it off. I was called as when they promised indicating that they were complete with the service. The total cost was $25-$40 less than I have paid at other service shops in the area. Then Safi showed me a scrape on my fender. I told him that I had scraped the car in a tight parking space and that I thought I had scraped off the paint. He said he didn't think so. He then walked in his shop and brought out a spray can of something. He sprayed and wiped and repeated and presto - the car looks brand new there now. He told me the paint was not scraped but the columnar substance was scraped on. Just an above the board service. Definite repeat for me. read more

My girlfriend, friend, and myself were driving on the freeway when we heard a strange noise coming from the front of my girl's vehicle. We stopped on the side of the road and found out that the engine splash shield was dragging and was halfway off. We called the closest auto shop which was Ace Auto care. The gentleman on the phone was very nice and assured us they would be willing to help with our problem. I contacted ACE online to make an appointment, but after 5 days, I had not received a response (strike 1). Given the great reviews this shop has, I decided to give it another chance and called for an appointment. ACE gave me an appointment for when they open at 9am (late start), but I waited until 9:15am and it was still closed (strike 2). I continued knocking at the office door, and although I could hear people inside its offices, they would not open its doors (strike 3). It's disappointing. I will have to look for a more reliable auto shop. read more

We called them and left a message and they called right back. Very nice people working and running the shop. I bought a BMW Z4 from their sister company, Ace Auto Dealers. While the transaction and sales process went smoothly enough, the service after the sale part did not. Prior to signing the paperwork, we had stipulated that certain repair work would be done at some point later free of charge. This involved a rather long trip from Redwood City which meant that weekend plans needed to be adjusted to accommodate. The repair work involved getting a new key to operate the door locks, and fixing the passenger side door lock itself, as it was not responding to the signal command from the key or interior unlock buttons. Long story short; three trips up there later, it still does not work quite right. My understanding is that it is sometimes a difficult problem to diagnose, and they'd finally decided that new cables were possibly the fix. Fine. My issue isn't even so much about the repairs taking as long as they did, or the effectiveness of their work. It is the extremely slow and/or absent communication regarding the work. Getting a response as to the status of a diagnosis was like pulling teeth. I tried to be respectful of their schedule by not calling directly, but texting instead. It was only when I threatened to write a less-than-flattering review of the shop and the dealership that I got responses. So in summary; quality car, professional sales and process, but not so much on the after-sale service, at least in my experience. They could try a little harder, imo. read more

DO NOT GO tO THIS SHOP!!! I brought my car there to have brakes done, they had my car for over a week, told me that in fact it did not need pads or calipers that I brought it in for, but it needed two modules instead. I spent almost $900 dollars for this work. Brought the car home happy, went to drive it a couple days later and brakes lights came on again and it says it needs brake pads. I called the shop and left a message and they still haven't returned my call. I have and Audi A4 and we saw such good reviews for them for Audi's this is why we took it there. What a disappointment. Oh by the way they are not open the hours the website says either!! I will give you an update if I ever get them to fix my brake problem!!!!!! read more
