What fun with potatoes, and extensive vegetarian offerings without so much as a blink. Between the gardens, grounds, and an old nearby cemetery where we sat smoking Cuban cigars and overlooking a bluff, we knew we'd found a slice of heaven. The beds were very comfortable. Unfortunately, the water in the shower was unpredictable and it was usually cold with a blast of scalding hot water every now and then; however, this did seem to be a trend at most European hotels. When we checked in the kind lady at the reception desk spent time telling us about the hotel, things to see and do in the area, and showed us to our room. The breakfast room was comfortable and the food was good and filling. The service was very, very slow. I would definitely stay here again and would recommend my friends to stay as well.

When you enter the main door, first impressions are that you've let yourself in for a 3 star rating or even less stay at this hotel. But don't be fooled by the need for a good upgrade, a lick of paint or even leveling some sloping floors! - it all adds to the charm of Hyland's and would probably be an entirely different place if it was modernised. The staff, while lacking in some managerial direction in times, were, on the whole really friendly and helpful and went out of their way to be as attentive as possible even during the peak busy times. Breakfast was amazing with a huge choice and absolutely tons of food - but certainly needed before heading off for a long days walk on the Cliffs of Moher, the Burren and surrounding areas. Absolutely delicious freshly made brown bread - almost hot from the oven - all hot courses at breakfast were ordered and served by the waiting staff, while fresh fruit and cereals were on the self-service table. We had a truly excellent dinner on our first night, with a huge choice for each course and again large portions, but very nicely presented. Parking is available at a very narrow entrance just as you pass the front of the hotel on the left. WiFi is only available downstairs in the mainly lobby or bar area which is a bit of a nuisance. I would highly recommend this wonderful homely hotel which is right in the heart of the gorgeous village of Ballyvaughan - with lots of other nice pubs, restaurants, tea rooms and Cafes on its doorstep, not to mind the wonderful location as a hub for walking as I've already outlined above.

It's a nice location with lots of parking, there is a restaurant inside and within walking distance of restaurants and bars. There is also a spa, but it's limited and not a lot available. The hotel is clean and nice inside, and the staff is very helpful with suggestions of what is nearby. They also provide a map; the elevators are very slow, and the room is good and clean, but the hallway had a weird smell the entire time. The bed was okay, but the pillows were thin, and we didn't spend much time in the room so that didn't bother us. We had the window open during our stay, and it was nice outside the entire time. The bathroom was small, and the towels were very small and thin. But for the location, it's worth it.

Around midnight we became aware of extremely loud noise emanating from a lower level of the hotel. We contacted the night manager by phone who informed us that the music would continue until 2 am and he was neither willing or in a position to lower the volume or turn it off. On the morning of the 17/8/2024 we met Mr. Dermot McManus, the General Manager of the hotel. Having explained the situation to him, his singular response was that he would have to look into "both sides of the story". Mr. Mc Manus undertook to contact one or either of us the following day in relation to what had happened, however, we have not heard from him up to this time. We then wrote to the owner of the hotel Mr. Pat Mc Donagh who ignored our letter. There was no sense of a duty of care or a deliverance of hospitality which might have been reasonably expected. If you want a nights sleep at the weekend AVOID, AVOID AVOID.

From the small back deck you can look over this town all the way to the high cliffs that drop into the ocean, creating picturesque views of the orange, red and pink sunset. We arrived to a small sign personally welcoming us. Niall and Darra treated us like family while we stayed at their house and even dined at their table. They were personally acquainted with the entire area and gave us honest recommendations for spending our days there. We were able to see the Cliffs without crowds because of their directions. We then had the perfect dinner of local food at Roadford House where we walked along stonewalls past cows, horses, and sheep to the intimate dining room overlooking pastures. We ended the night by enjoying local music at O'Connor's Pub just a minute walk from the Sea View. We would highly recommend staying at the Sea View for at least a few nights on your trip to Ireland. There are 20+ rooms and some have balconies. Most rates come with breakfast which they serve continental early 7am-9am, and full Irish breakfast begins later at 9AM. The hotel restaurant and bar on premise are quite good. It's a short/easy 5 min walk from the hotel to the center of town. They contract with local tour guides to pick you up if you wish to take an island tour. The front desk is pretty strict about check-in and didn't let us check in before 3PM even though we were on the 10:30AM ferry that got in around 11:30AM, but they do let you store your luggage behind the front desk. P.S. They tend to have a lot of weddings at this hotel as there are banquet tents, so be prepared for potential parties (bachelor or bachelorette) on certain weekends.

Breakfast the following day with a buffet of juice, fruit, cereals, and several kinds of bread for toast was perfect. At 8 am the staff takes your order for hot breakfast. Very friendly staff.
