Terrible service! Cold Food! We came to meet some friends that suggested this place for brunch and the customer service was appalling. First, the hostess said there was a 15 min wait for a table and that turned into 45min and longer. We waited so long that we went to the bar to order drinks and the bartended told us the kitchen was behind an hour or more and we might want to eat elsewhere! We had already waited this long so we went and placed our order with the bartender and a few min after that we went to the hostess and she finally saw the empty tables that had been vacant for 10 min or longer and sat us there. We never saw anyone to wait on us after we were seated and I flagged down a waitress and asked her if she knew who was covering this table and asked for glasses of water for the table. She said she would get us some and came back with water and never returned to our table. Then the bartender puts our food on the tables after we had waited another 45 min for it to arrive and our food was cold and wrong so we sent the burgers back to be fixed. Waited another few min and by this time my wife was so upset she started making it known loudly. The owner came over and asked what was wrong an we told her and she called over the wait staff and explained this customer service was unacceptable and that the staff needed to do whatever it takes to correct our horrible experience. She also paid for our meals and said if there was anything else to let here know and we thought everything would be good and our early experience would be corrected. Nope! The staff didn't listen to her after she left and they never came back to see if we needed anything. And guess what? The food that we sent back while waiting was never fixed and forgotten about and my wife went to find the owner or manager and told them what was wrong again! The kitchen manager came over and said he was sorry and would fix it but the food came out wrong again and we just had enough and left with the burgers after being there for 2.5 hours. During the entire time we were there I could see that the customers that knew someone who worked there was seated promptly and their service was excellent with no issues whatsoever that I could tell but ours was the worst. Sad. This place is just a college bar where people can get drunk on bottomless drinks and food may be an option or maybe not but the customer service will be terrible. Here's the dealie... A group of us work pals went for Burger Week. 3 of us got the beer cheese burger and the one got the Ragin Cajun. We were all very happy with our burgers. Tasty and generous portion. The owner chick lost me at "Hello!" She came up to our table as we were talking asking us where we worked, did we go to lunch often, when our last bowel movement was etc... I'm personally not into small talk with the employees at a restaurant as I came out to talk to my lunchmates lady!!! I forgave her. That was until....she all but threw us out. She lost her dang mind. They were getting busy and I guess she wasn't expecting that during "BURGER WEEK", but ok. I mentioned that I placed an order for a to go burger when she flat out denied that crap! Hell to the naw naw naw she said! We had Not even been there an hour. Maybe not even 45 minutes. She wanted us GONE! Dang heffer relax!!! The server was just fine. She made sure I got my burger and did a wonderful job serving us. The owner needs to stay her butt home and let everyone else take care of things. The absolute worst service I have had anywhere. I came in for Sunday brunch after surrounding brunch locations gave us an estimate of a very long (but accurate) 90 minute wait-- Ladder 19 suggested the could have us seated in 30 minutes, however 2 hours later we were still sitting at the bar while plenty of other customers were seated before us. Finally the owner came up to take our order herself because we had been waiting at the bar for so long, but this was false hope that we would receive our food anytime soon. We waited another half an hour to finally get to a table (this is 2.5 hours now that we've waited). A few members of the table ordered chili to come out before the rest of the meal and the owner went to get it for us but told us she was unable to because there was too much going on in the kitchen (I'm sorry-- the kitchen was too busy for you, the owner, to spoon out chili that has been sitting there since the restaurant opened that morning?!). Finally over 3 hours after we had been at the restaurant and another 40 after we finally been seated, we received our food. It's unfortunate that there are still so few places in Clifton that even restaurants like Ladder 19, where customers are treated with no respect, are finding success. read more

My company held our Christmas Party 2015 at Ladder 19. We had semi-private room that gave us a view of the festive bar. They accommodated our party of 20 nicely. The staff was attentive. Each member of our party ordered off the menu and all of our orders came out perfectly! The atmosphere is electric with activity at night. It is a campus restaurant, but even graduates will appreciate the decor...a converted firehouse. I have been back three times since and each meal has been better than the last! read more

NO, NO, NO..Went yesterday for late lunch 1pm crowd had thinned out.... waited 10 minutes for a drink and only got one by waving the guy behind bar down and had to ask for a menu.... another 10 minutes goes by flag the guy down again to order food...order 3 burgers and an app...20-25 minutes later flag guy down ask about food...you`re up next he promises ..10 minutes later food arrives...app is cold goetta fries. honestly burgers were marginal, and finally flagged him down to get the check... i swear we could have left an this guy would have been none the wiser read more

Waited for over an hour after we were Id'd for lunch. Then they couldn't accomadate 7 people after they told us we would make it work. The owner said she " wasn't very good at checking Id's". As our Id's we're getting checked the owner told the bartender to go check someone else's Id's first. Absolutely fucking crazy read more

If this puts it into perspective, my girlfriend and I were in town for two nights, we tried this place out of the blue the first night and loved it. Second night we browsed all the restaurants around and found no good reason not to go back to this place (also she really wanted to go back for their sweet potato fries). The only downside I have is that they have a modified menu on concert and game days, limiting your options compared to their usual menu. But we had a great experience both times. They have great drinks and indoor and outdoor options for seating. All of the staff was great, but our waitress, Brenna, in particular was great and made the experience that much better. read more

Awesome restaurant! First of all, I have never done any type of review on Yelp before, but I was very impressed with the welcoming staff and AMAZING food. I was just there yesterday for dinner (Jan. 13) My family and I are from Kentucky, yet my daughter attends UC. With that being said, her father and I decided to take her out to dinner since she is so close to us.. The first thing she said was "Lets try to Ladder 19 I heard it was amazing"! She was right. As soon as we got there, the staff welcomed us with open arms even though they were pretty busy. We did not know there was a basketball game that night. Our waitress.... Was... Awesome! I used to waitress for 12 years and managed a local restaurant awhile back and having a good, solid staff, was the most important key factor to have while owning a restaurant (or any business really). That's why I am writing this review in the first place was to recognize the staff that the owner of Ladder 19 has hired that makes this restaurant so comforting AND welcoming. Whether she was completely stressed or not, our waitress continuously had a positive attitude, always kept a smile on her face, and was very personable/bubbly. Knew what she was talking about, and answered our questions. She even made me smile when she was talking because she was just so nice! She even talked to my daughter about school because they had the same major, which was education. I can't remember perfectly, but she had brown hair and it was in the style of a "high ponytail". Her name (I believe) was Loren... Says my daughter since I am awful with names! My daughter is a second year and she looked about the same age as her or a little older. The other staff members were also VERY nice. Her two coworkers (who also had brown hair), were always smiling and keeping calm due to all of the madness. Hell, they weren't even our waitresses and they still made their way to our table to talk to us.(Unfortunately I did not catch their names). When they were starting to slow down around 6:30/7, our waitress and her coworkers were talking to us personally just to chat. The staff, you could tell, were very close with one another and get along nicely. Even the bartenders were outgoing and wanting to help the servers as much as they could. That, I believe, is the most important thing a restaurant NEEDS! They even helped each other clean tables that were not their own. Awesome. Now, what also stood out to me was the FOOD! WOW. So amazing... I am looking at the other reviews and some people were saying the food was "decent"... Do not know what they ordered but we started off with the bacon fries (which our waitress suggested), and let me tell you that was a great start! We ate the whole plate. The only thing I would complain about... The food took a little longer than expected.. And I am not hard to please.. I knew that there was a game that day. Also, I wish that we could have had the entire menu instead of a small one.. I was curious to see what else they had to offer. Us three all got the normal burger on the menu. The burger actually had a side of sauce that was known (said our waitress) to be amazing - It was! That was a nice touch because my husband was upset that there was going to be nothing on the burger (which is just boring)!! The restaurant/bar was also very unique inside and I loved the fact there's a patio.. Can't wait to come back in the summer to sit out there. I love the "look" of this restaurant and felt very comfortable there. Even though it was busy and the waiters were stressed, I felt as if they handled everything well. I even saw the owner (or manager? unsure) help out the waiters and bring the food out to tables to assist the staff. GREAT PLACE. Went here to check it out. Huge mistake. First, a worker there who I assume was the manager just walks around and complains about everything everyone is doing. I was literally standing at the door and the guy accused me of checking people's IDs. He made a huge deal out of literally nothing and was a complete buzz kill and creep. I wouldn't go back just for this reason alone, but I feel inclined to share now. Secondly, there was only 1 bathroom (one for men and women) so there was always a huge line to wait. It actually got so bad that people starting doubling up to use it! And again, that same guy came and complained about people doubling up. If you don't want your customers to do that then maybe expand your bathroom. Third, they let in WAY too many people! By 11pm I had to wait 20 minutes to get a drink. And by that time, the kegs were all out so I had to pay $5 for a can, that's right a CAN of bud light. They have a bar upstairs but it's vacant. I guess they are too cheap to pay for another bar tender to use it and would rather have their customers wait 20 minutes in a mosh pit only to find out the draft beer is gone. But I wish this was the end.. For those of you who enjoy smoking, forget about a patio to smoke on. They literally have one tiny wheel chair ramp outside that they claim is the smoking area. Holds about 3 people comfortably and I use that term loosely. Finally, they have only 1 pool table that is in the way of everything else. You can't take a good shot without hitting those at the table 2 feet away. Likewise there are 2 dart board upstairs. But again, you can't even play because it's so crowded as mentioned before and not to mention it's so hot up there you can't enjoy yourself. Please don't waste your money coming here. There are plenty of other bars in the area that (1) have polite, non creepy staff; and (2) don't take 20 minutes to get a drink with plenty of games to play without it getting over crowded. read more

This was my 1st time at ladder 19 and I was a little disappointed. Although our server was very sweet it took 35 minutes for us to get waters after asking her 3 different times. We also had to ask the hostess for silverware after our food came out and we still did not having waters. We finally got waters but once they were finished we had to ask for more water. This is not the way to treat your brunch loving, hungover guests! At the end our server knew we were a little irritated and she did bring us many pitchers of mimosas and the food was still very good! Food is meh. Bottomless mimosas on the weekend is the reason to come. Mimosas are advertised from 11-3 however they cut you off at 230. So I'll just put it this way, I only downloaded this app just to write this review. I'm sitting at my table currently, all of the plates and glassware in front of me is covered with grime and lipstick stains, I found what looks like a booger on the rim of my Bloody Mary and there has been a bird trapped inside next to my table the entire time I've been here. I notified 4 people, of which 0 made any effort to get rid of the bird, let alone the first 3 that scoffed at me for asking for the bird to be removed. Horribly trained staff most of whom are sitting at tables with friends instead of paying attention to their tables, and none of them understand what "hospitality services" means in regard to their jobs. I was really excited to take my firefighter dad here but it was just really disappointing. We sat there for about 20 minutes before we were even acknowledged and the overall experience after that was less than par. Came here with a couple coworks today for lunch. I could tell immediately the place was under staffed. No big deal. Service was slow and our orders were a little messed up. Not a problem these things happen. What really upset me was the owner working the floor not helping her situation and just placing blaming on all of her employees. I could tell she was frustrated but did nothing to help herself. After our meal and we were cashed out one of the cooks who was bussing the tables in the dining room came over. Instead of asking for our plates he just put out his hands and signed for us to pass them. Not only was it extremely rude that he didn't ask or say a word but as he was passed the dishes he began taking food off of them with his bare hands and piling it onto the top plate before stacking them together. Bare hands on half eaten food and stacking plates right on our table. The owner and this disgusting cook completely ruined it for me. Never going back. read more
