Worst service ever! The dispatcher was incredibly sarcastic and condescending. We called for a taxi ride from South County to Dog Town.. After asking about an ETA, she said that she wasn't able to give me one, but I would get an automated message when the cab was "close". After getting that notice, my partner and I went outside to look for this cab, only to NEVER SEE IT. I called back shortly before quarter til 10, dispatcher told me that the driver would give my number a call when he got here. No call. I called back after 75 minutes and canceled. After a condescending talk from dispatcher, she nonchalantly told me that the cab HAD been IN FRONT of my apartment building at 9:30... Laclede cab is USUALLY tolerable.. never very good service, but tolerable. After this, I wouldn't recommend this company to my in-laws or enemies. AVOID AT ALL COST! read more

I took a taxi from Schnucks to my house Friday. He charge me more than the meter show. I was upset that he did not want to go down a street. It looks like an alley, but it has a name, Frieda. There is no facing house from Morganford to Ulena. Taxi vehicle was #1012. I know there is many streets that there are no houses in this country. Was the cab driver lazy or what? Their is other cab drivers who are very nice and put groceries on the steps. read more

Worst experience ever! I arrived at my destination but apparently, the card reader was down. The driver informed me that I would need to pay in cash. I informed her that, that was inexcusable considering I was not made aware before I agreed to the terms and I was taken to my destination. She then sped off while my door was till open. She stated she would take us back to our original destination. I friend feel out of her seat, I asked the driver numerous to pull over so I could properly insert the safety belt for friend. The driver refused and my friend fell out of her seat another time. Thankfully, a city police officer noticed and provided transportation home. I've used Laclede cab since I moved out of Soulard and into dogtown to get me around to all of the bars in Saint Louis. The service has always been supurb from the cab drivers and I've always had a great time socializing with them. Usually within 15 minutes of a call they are there to pick me up from my place and I am on my way to enjoy what the Saint Louis night life has to offer me. "But Joe? Why only 3 stars for these great accolades?" Well Laclede always is available to get me to the place I want to go to drink, but the problem is, when it is time to get home. Now I'll say I do stay out and usually close down the 1:30 bars on the weekends which is probably when the bulk of their traffic occurs. If I do make it to a 3:00am bar it is usually not until 4:00am or after before I'm able get a cab and Saint Louis winters are cold and windy. Case in point, standing outside Atomic Cowboy on the wednesday before thanksgiving in the rain, and the cold waiting for a cab that I called an hour and a half ago. Watch says 4:00am, body says drink now or forever you will sleep. It seems like everytime I try to get a cab either out of South Grand or South Gravois or The Grove it is almost impossible to get a lacede cab out there (which is interesting because Laclede is like 2 minutes from The Grove). I was outside Mangia on Grand for atleast 45 minutes before a cab showed up on 2 different occassions. Though if I am Downtown or in Soulard, cabs magically appear within seconds. I just have to be standing in front of McGurks or far enough west on Washington to get flag them down first. They are great for getting you to your spot for the night but it is hit or miss using them to get home. read more

These guys are my cab company of choice. I like the fact that they're stationed around the Central West End/Midtown area and have always been quick to respond to my calls -- from the airport, from the neighborhood, you name it. Sure, there aren't empty cabs floating around at every street corner, but that's the case for every cab company in St. Louis; this is not a taxi town. I remember reading a review or comment somewhere complaining that all Laclede cabs were pieces of junk. I needed a ride from the Shrewsbury metrolink station to my hotel. I wasn't able to schedule a pickup from a public place, which kinda sucked, but I didn't have to wait long for my cab to show up after I made the call. My driver was Michael, cab #1004. He was super friendly and his cab was clean. The fare was $10 cheaper than what County Cab quoted. If I'm ever in the STL area I'll be using Michael for cab service. read more

Although we didn't talk much with our driver, we were very pleased with our overall experience! The cab was a few minutes early and so he patiently waited for us to finish getting ready and we left on time. He was a safe driver and very polite to all of us. We also initially had 6 riding and were set to pay an extra $5 because we needed a van, but when saw only 4 of us get in, he took off the extra charge. This cab service is terrible. 1.) I was hung up on twice while saying "I need a cab." 2.) THEY DO NOT ARRIVE ON TIME. 3.) Terrible customer service. Horribly unreliable service. On multiple occasions I've called ahead hours to arrange a pick up, am told it will be no problem, and never see a cab. When I call to find out where it is, they act like this is normal business practice and cannot even give an approximate time until one arrives. If it makes no difference what time you arrive at your destination (including up to several hours late), then this company is okay, but if you need to be there within any kind of schedule, stay away. read more

Last month we decided to book a ride to the airport with Laclede Cab. We decided to book with them after we had a negative experience with Royal Car Service last year. Online booking with Laclede Cab was easy and user friendly. The night before I called to confirm our pick up time. Everything was good to go. Only problem, nobody showed up. After waiting 20 minutes I called Laclede Cab to check on the status of our ride. The dispatcher could not locate our confirmation number. We ended up driving to the airport and parking at one of the long term lots. When I returned from my vacation I sent an e mail to Laclede Cab with confirmation number and description of what happened and never received a response. Will never use them again. read more

I was cool with company up until I had a small issue with a lost phone that I had left inside one of the cabs I had gotten a ride from. Their response each time was that they hadn't gotten a phone in their lost and found. I new the time of pickup, description of the driver, and they said they would try and find him for me. Every time I called, a total of 3 times, it was like starting all over again. Something that could be easy to solve is turning into a three day ordeal, because customer service closes on weekends, in which time any passenger could've found it and grabbed it. Don't bother - they may never show up. We had a person in our party who had been severely debilitated by the long walk and many steps involved in getting from the Old Courthouse to the Arch, and then down to the riverboats, so the gift shop staff called a cab for us. We told them we needed the cab to come down to riverfront level; the cab driver apparently went to the upper pavilion area, and 3 subsequent calls to get the cab to come to the correct location resulting in nothing. The cab was ordered for serious reasons, because the person felt physically unable to make the return trip on foot, not just because someone "didn't feel like" walking. The no-show caused a great deal of physical pain and distress, ruining what should have been a fun visit. read more

NEVER EVER EVER Will I use this cab company and I HIGHLY suggest you don't either!!! We were leaving town for a 2 week vacation and wanted a hassle free morning before we left so we made an appointment to pick us up at 5:00AM. I confirmed the order the night before we left, the only nice person we have dealt with says "everything is set for a cab to be outside our house right at 5am tomorrow morning..." 5:15am comes still NO CAB. I call and the people WERE RUDE BEYOND BELIEF, stating "LISTEN LADY THERE IS NO WAY FOR US TO GUARANTEE A CAB WILL BE THERE WHEN THE EXACT TIME YOU NEED IT. We don't even have one in route to you yet." I simply ask in a slightly annoyed yet calm tone "What is the point of making an appointment, if you can't guarantee they will be here. I confirmed with the lady last night that one would be here at 5. If you can't guarantee it then you should make appointments with people." Her yet again RUDE reply, "Stop yelling at me", hands the phone over to an even ruder guy! I ask him the same thing and his reply was "WE ALREADY TOLD YOU THAT WE CAN'T GUARANTEE YOU THAT A CAB WILL BE THERE WHEN YOU SET UP THE APPOINTMENT. I CAN GET ONE TO YOU IN APPROX 30 MIN." Let me tell you this, If you can't guarantee me a cab when I set one up, I GUARANTEE THAT I WILL NEVER EVER ATTEMPT TO USE THIS CAB COMPANY. Thank God we had other means to get to the airport in just the nick-of-time (5 minutes before the flight took off, literally) amazing friends that were willing to pick up the car at the airport so we didn't have to pay a fortune to park for 2 weeks. Otherwise this company would be getting the bill for parking and the new airline reservations for the $2000 plane tickets. read more

Important information - this is how Laclede Cab works, as explained to me by the driver: You place an order for a cab. The order goes out to drivers in the area. They individually choose whether or not to pick up you up. Laclede Cab, as a company, does NOT guarantee that someone will pick you up. Realistically, someone will *eventually*... but there is certainly no guarantee that you will be picked up at the time you requested. It also doesn't matter how far in advance you book. One would think that, if you book the night before, your cab would be virtually guaranteed to arrive on time - or at least within a 10 minute window... not so. My experience: I booked a cab for 7:30am, using the website, the night before my 8am doctor's appointment. (The doctor's office is only an 10 minute drive away, but it's not very metro-accessible and I'm a college student without a car.) I figured 7:30am was too early for 10 minutes, and that I'd regret not requesting 7:45 once I had 20 minutes to kill in the waiting room... oh, how wrong I was. When they haven't arrived by 7:35am, I call just to make sure that someone is on the way. The woman on the phone says that my "order hadn't been picked up yet" and hangs up immediately after I say "okay" without clarifying what that meant. I decide to wait a little longer, but by 7:45, I'm starting to worry and call again. She says that the order still hasn't been "picked up". At this point I call another cab company to book (they give a 10 minute estimate), then call Laclede back to cancel. They say, "are you sure, they're almost there", and I grudgingly accept, thinking they can't be TOO far off, and call the other cab company back to cancel that order. It's now 7:50am. Laclede Cab (automated message) calls me at 8am to say that my cab has arrived. They're nowhere in sight - I'm standing outside the building. I've been standing just inside the doorway for the past half hour and have not seen a cab. I call them to ask where they are, why I got the call, and then the cab (finally) shows up at 8:05. So apparently "arrived" means "almost there" and "almost there" means "15 minutes away". Great. The driver was awesome though, and totally brightened my morning - so 2 stars overall. This is only the third time I've taken Laclede Cab, and they were super timely the first two times - one of which was also booked online the night before. I do like that they have a short phone wait and online booking. But as someone who basically only takes cabs to get to and from medical appointments, 2/3 on time (and 35 minutes late when *not* on time) isn't good enough. tl,dr; If you want your 10 minute trip to take 45 minutes, take metro/bus, it's cheaper and more reliable. read more

I found Laclede Taxi on Yelp and since it had multiple reviews, decided to try it out. I needed to get a group of 6 to another destination and called the day before to make a reservation for a van taxi. They let me know that there was a $6 surcharge on the transportation, which was fine. The driver showed up a little early, which was fine. He was VERY, VERY patient with waiting for the kids he was going to drive to get their stuff together, and then for me to get in my car (I was following him with my car and more kids). He drove them to their destination and then waited for me to park and come over to pay their fare. Very nice & patient with me, herding around 10 kids! I will definitely use them again. read more

Took a cab ride on Saturday night and accidentally left my keys inside to my brand new car. I was freaking out because to replace the FOB pad and key was going to be $100s. It was 2:30am so calling them wasn't a whole lot of help. I had decided that Monday morning I would just have to go to the main office and hope they had them. Well I didn't have to because the cab driver knocked on my door early Monday morning with my keys in his hand!!!! That was so awesome and generous of him! I wish I knew his name! Terrible! Called a cab to be picked up from my Aunt's house to catch my flight. They said the cab would arrive in 15 minutes. I called every 15 minutes for the next hour. They kept saying, the driver will be there soon. The cab NEVER showed. On my last call they said they had no way of contacting the driver because the driver was out of radio range. I scheduled a cab for my kid brother for his first day at his first job. Any other day I would have taken him myself, but my roommate and I are both working today. I used the website to get an estimate for the route and it came to $29. I gave my brother $45 for the ride, a tip, and a little extra so he could get a snack or something. By the time the ride was over has was left with no money. I get that an estimate is going to change and is almost never really accurate, but going from $29 to $45 isn't a estimate, it's a guess. It's a 50% increase! If I would have known it was going to cost $45 I would have tried Uber. No wonder why the cab business is tanking. read more

While Laclede allows you to book online it is apparently not a given that you will get a cab. Not only did my cab not show up to me to the airport, they didn't contact me to tell me my cab wasn't showing up. When I called Laclede to check on my cab as it was 5 minutes past my scheduled pick up time, the dispatcher was rude and said they schedule accounts and airport first. I indicated my trip was to the airport, which they apparently overlooked. They continued to be very rude and indicated there were no guarantees of a cab when you book. I asked to speak to a manager and was told no one was on duty. I asked that the manager call me when on duty. At that point I had to drive myself to the airport, almost missing my flight. FYI- It's been 3 weeks and I have yet to hear from a Laclede manager. No apologies. read more

Ok look, yes, St. Louis is behind the times. We're the largest market with no Uber or Lyft. Just how it is. If you want to get somewhere, you'll need a cab. Laclede is the way to go. Their app works well. The drivers are friendly, most of the time. The dispatch? Effective. Friendly? Eh. Not really. But, if you need a ride, you need a ride. Go with these guys. If you don't, their competitor St. Louis County Cab/Yellow Cab are what you want. St. Louis required prices be displayed on the door of a taxi. Laclede is the cheapest. Use them and smile. I always use Laclede when I need rides to the airport. I call a day or two in advance and they always show up at my house on time (usually early). The cab drivers are generally very nice and don't engage in chitchat. Their operators could be slightly more friendly, but I'm only on the phone for about 2 minutes so not a big deal. read more
