Upon advice from my boyfriend, I called Laclede Cab the night before to make a reservation to go to the airport for the next morning. The phone kept ringing, & I finally reached a operator. The operator was nice & said that I would need a cab at 3 AM since my flight was departing at 6 AM. I called the next morning to tell them that I was going to be at the pick-up point at 3 AM to make sure that a cab would be there to pick me up. Sure enough, when I got there the cab was already there. Early! Needless to say, this cab company is the greatest! I am an extremely satisfied customer! Courteous & great staff! read more

I was in STL this week and needed a cab to the airport during rush hour. My flight was at 6pm, and I had someone from my office call them to pick me up at 4:20. At 4:15 I looked outside from the restaurant where we were in session and saw one of their cabs. I left the meeting quickly and went out in front. I am still not sure if the cab driver was looking for me, or just saw someone with a roller bag but when I told him we had called ahead he just nodded and asked what airline. I liked the driver because he drove very well and aggressively when he needed to. I wasn't able to check into my flight for whatever reason so was happy to get there in about 20 minutes right up to the front door. Bottom line is I understand people criticizing cab companies. I have done so as well, but this company executed very well. We called, they answered, the cab was on time, and got me to the airport quickly. A very pleasant experience. read more

I use this company at my job to order cabs for other people pretty often and every single time we call them for any reason, the people is always extremely rude. Horrible horrible service!!!!! Dispatch called me and yelled at me because their driver went to the wrong address. Will never use again.

I have never written a review for anything, but I specifically made an account just because of this company. I called in and the employee told me a cab was currently dispatched. About 25 minutes later, still nothing. I called back in and they sent another cab. Another 20 minutes went by. Still nothing after 45 minutes. I called back in and the same employee informed me that a new cab would be sent. Another 15 minutes went by. I walked back and found a new taxi to take. 1 hour and absolutely nothing. We took a cab to the oyster bAr IN A VAN with 5 people and it cost us $8, we called laclede cab company because that is the company the oyster bar gave us. We had the same amount of people in a van for the same distance back and it cost us $15. We called the company about it and asked for clarification and they gave excuse after excuse after excuse as to why the price was so much more. None of which made and sense or was legit. They told me what the charges were and stated that the prices and fares were the same all over the U.S., but couldn't give us why it cost almost double for the same ride. read more

The "text for a taxi" used to work really well. I often didn't even make it outside before the taxi arrived. Yesterday and today, though, it was a big fail, I waited and waited and got no "taxi dispatched" response. I finally had to call, but still ended up waiting 45 minutes. read more

My husband and I called for a cab (visiting from out of town) and the dispatcher was very ride and abrupt. We waited over 20 minutes, no cab. We called back and they told us someone was 5 minutes away. Waited and waited ... No cab. Finally we spotted a cab from another company and jumped in. As a former resident of Chicago, I expect a taxi company to be capable of coordinating a driver to arrive when their customer requests (i.e. in 20 minutes, the next day at 5am.) This company is not able to so, actually telling me to call back when I'm ready, and then expecting me to wait 10-15 mins for the taxi to show. Most times I've used Laclede, no problems. I call, they show up, I get home fast, and they don't cost much. When they're bad, they're very, very bad. Last night is a case in point. It took an hour + six phone calls, including the last one where I was texted that the cab had been dispatched, then after no-show I was lied to that the cab had been there. Since I was on the street waiting the entire time (in subfreezing temperatures) this could not have been true. I needed a ride to Washington ave, in downtown st.louis. The cab driver drove me to washington park, ill. I told him he was going the wrong way. He told me, "I'm the cab driver, I know what I'm doing!" I was late getting to my destination! I have used this company for 17 years! Truly disappointed. read more

Absolutely horrible-I wish I could give them a negative score! The dispatchers are ALWAYS incredibly rude and even hang up on you! They're useless bc they'll never give you even the slightest idea of when a cab can pick you up. If you ask them for a rough estimate of when you can expect a cab, they respond with a crazy attitude. Please avoid Laclede and try a company who shows some basic respect and can actually give you an idea of when they'll pick you up. read more

On multiple occasions I have ordered a 6:30am cab the day before to find out that the cab isn't assigned until after 6:30am!! The whole point of ordering a cab is that it will be ready at the time I need it. That's the whole point of ordering a cab. From now on, I'm using Uber. read more

DO NOT trust the iPhone app. Made arrangements using the app several hours before pickup. 10 miinutes after - no car, the app says it was identifying a driver or something. Called - no car. Called again, no car. When I needed a car to get home after a long day's meeting - Laclede Cab disappoints. read more

The cab driver yanked my suitcase out of the trunk and broke the handle. The manager, Bill Dinsmore, gave me the run around for two months before telling me that Laclede Cab wasn't responsible for the damage. He never asked to see the suitcase, asked me repeatedly for my version of events as if to find some discrepancy in my story, didn't return phone calls or emails and blamed his supervisor ( with whom I was never allowed to speak) for how slowly and unprofessionally things were being handled. I never asked to have my suitcase replaced but only to have the handle fixed which seemed entirely reasonable. This was a horrible way to treat a long time customer. Took a taxi left my phone in the cab. When I called the Cab co they said theyd call the cab driver (sooo rude..theres an awful mean lady works in lost and found) I gave her the last 4 digits of the credit card I used to pay with so they can locate my cab. The next day she said they called the driver and he didn't have it. I located my phone using an app and it tracked to the driver's house. Needless to say I will NEVER take these cabs. County cab/yellow cab have great customer service! No THanks to this driver for stealing my phone!! read more

I will never use this company, I highly recommend that you don't either. I called for a cab last night around 1am and was told that the driver would contact me shortly. I waited until 2:20 after not hearing anything, I called the company and the gal told me that I'm on the list and that she has no idea when they will be their. It's now 10:30 in the morning and still no phone call. Obviously after calling family members at 3 o'clock in the morning I found someone to pick my wife and I up. I got into a Leclede cab yesterday and the driver screamed at me when I closed the door saying she was supposed to do it and I hope you didn't break the door. Then she fussed around for several minutes being upset about leaving something in the bank before she started driving. When she finally started driving she opened the window and it was freezing and I said could she please close the window and she said I'm hot. Then I asked her if she could take the freeway and she got severely agitated saying no even when I told her the other drivers always takes the freeway. Then she got really furious. I didn't say anything more except toward the end of the ride I wanted to calm her down so I apologized for asking her take the freeway and told her she was right. That didn't calm her down and she was nasty till I got out of the cab. Two other drivers at the same company were also very angry people driving poorly and constantly blaming all the other driver which I didn't need to hear. They really should train their drivers in customer relations. I'll never use them again. read more

I just moved to St. Louis not far from the amtrak station and decided taking a cab would be easiest and cheapest for my weekend trip. Laclede cab seemed to have the fairest rate and the operator was very friendly in pre-scheduling a cab to pick me up from my home and take me to the station. However I am now on my way back and tried to do the same thing, and this operator was a very b*tchy woman who said I can not preschedule a cab I have to wait until I am already there. I said are you serious? I literally just did this Thursday and she says "well, whoever was the operator that day should not have taken your call." I could not believe I was being spoken to like that. I hung up the phone and needless to say I will just wait until I get back to the station and hope there is an available cab there and hope for a good rate. I will not be doing business with Laclede cab ever again. read more

I used the Laclede app to order a cab for a 6:45AM pickup to the airport Wed. Feb 10. At 6:55 there was no cab, I called and was told "no one had picked up the call and the airport was a priority". I thought the "order" the evening before meant I'd have a cab at that a call would be put out. And the airport wad a 'priority'. I waited another 10 minutes and no cab. I drove myself. If you want reliability this is not the outfit. Don't use them! By the way they called later, I didn't bother to answer. read more

Absolutely terrible. Rude. Never showed up. Had to call again. Sent a text saying they'd already been there. By the time they came back ( a half hour after my 2nd call) I'd left and the guy yelled at me. Don't waste your time - they'll find endless ways to do that, themselves. read more

We have now experienced 3 episodes of calling a Laclede cab for the airport and not have a car show up. The most time was on a Friday morning when I booked a cab online for 10:30 am and called at 10am to confirm one was coming. The operator assured me one would be at my house. I went back to my app at 10:40 and it said "waiting for driver assignment." We had to rush and drive and park at the airport and barely made our flight. This has happened twice before. Their app seems to have some neat features that don't work because I can't actually get a cab with it. Calling them will work if they pick up the phone. It tends to just ring and ring. When I do get someone on the phone, they tend to be unpleasant. I'm surprised they have been in the business this long and are this unreliable. Cabs are supposed to be a convenience, not a pain in the butt. Call a different company. read more

I was getting a cab back from Mardi Gras with some friends and the cab ride was a DISASTER. He went through as much traffic as possible to get instead of getting onto highway 40 like we asked him to since we had somewhere to be. The fare ended up being around $13 and when I handed him a $20 at the end of the ride and then he REFUSED to give any change. I was planning to give a normal tip but the fact that he refused and yelled at us to get out was APPALLING. read more

I attempted to reserve online the night before, but they weren't there to pick me up in the morning. Called the dispatcher and, just as everyone else said, she definitely was NOT the friendliest person in the world, but you know what? I don't even care, because she had a cab out to me in 15 minutes (after sending me a txt confirmation). Screw it, I'll take efficient over friendly ANY day of the week. The cab driver was a nice enough guy...just friendly enough without trying to go crazy with the small talk (I hate when cab drivers feel the need to fill every second of silence with conversation). The back of the front passenger seat had this nifty little device that allowed me to swipe/process my credit card payment myself. Maybe I don't get out enough, but I thought this was the coolest thing I'd seen in weeks. They even calculate the tip at 15%, 20%, and 25% so that you just have to select one option and it's done! If I was able to enter No Stars at all I would! I called up this taxi service requesting for a 45min pickup--which I was then told if I wanted a specific time I should have called 1 hr in advance. I found this foolish seeing how I used this company once before and I did not have to go through that trouble not only that usually one would call a taxi service because they need the service for the time they need it, not to be put on hold. (though I am a patient person I tried to be understanding, however this was around 7am in the morning--not a busy time for taxi service!) I told the speaker okay and just decided to call 10 minutes later seeing how my friend was not ready to leave my apartment (the cab was for her). We called and requested a cab then and there, the speaker notified me they would place an order. Since calling we waited outside in the cold for nearly 1hr and a half the cab was no where in sight and I knew my friend would not make it to her destination in time to catch her greyhound trip back to our hometown. I was appalled and this had led to an inconvenience for our day! I just had to go and purchase another greyhound ticket to ensure she would make it back to our city safely later today. It's my boyfriends birthday this weekend and we decided we'd like to go out to River City Casino. We took a cab both ways. The distance was 5 miles. The cab drive there was very pleasant. The cab driver was prompt, used his GPS and the ride totaled $15.12. About an hour before we were ready to leave, we booked another cab for midnight. We were out front on time and waited about 6 minutes before I called the cab company. I spoke with Cindy and she was pleasant letting me know my cab was 4 minutes out. I said okay and we waited...the cab didn't arrive until 20 minutes after we had scheduled it and we sat in 37 degree weather waiting for it to arrive. As soon as we saw it we ran over to it I asked if they were there to pick us up and then said, "You're a little late." The cab driver asked us for directions on how to get home and the ride ended up being $5 more than it was the first time. (I should mention I just moved to St. Louis from California 4 months ago) While my first cab driver was pleasant my second experience was enough to never use this cab company again. read more
