I had a five-star experience with Laclede Cab last night! FANTASTIC driver (cautious, safe driving and EXTREMELY courteous, friendly and helpful, wore a mask [as did I]), super-clean vehicle, and on-the-dot arrival time at my pickup location. I ask, what more could you want? The only reason I engaged Laclede rather than Uber or Lyft was that my credit card was malfunctioning, and Laclede was willing to accept cash. What a lucky break for me! I mean, otherwise, I wouldn't have "discovered" this hidden gem. From now on, Laclede, not Uber or Lyft, will be my go-to choice for rides in the STL. I gave them 5 stars; I would have given them 50 stars if I could have! P.S. Did I say their rate was 25% cheaper than Uber or Lyft? But even if it weren't, I still would go with Laclede. I spoke with the Director of Communications who wasn't the friendliest and their driver was worse. I learned that it is up to the driver how they charge you; packages and additional passengers, it's up to them to charge you or not...fine. But be consistent in your info. Each cab says different things, so I was surprised when I got in the cab and was at 8.00 already. Their rates went up, which was not stated in the car, it is now 5.25 but the car says 4.25. Also, posting in the cab said first 4 bags are free, I was charged for each bag, at least .50. The driver was rude and so was the director, he was not interested in trying to keep a customer. Set up a pick up the day before so I could make the flight. At scheduled pick up time still didn't have a driver assigned to me. Lucky for me Uber had a driver close or might have missed my flight. My husband was worried about my safety and we were both worried about me missing my early morning flight. The other flights were sold out, so I couldn't miss this one. Tried to schedule Lyft and Uber the night before, but neither could find me a driver. My husband was concerned and wanted to have peace of mind that I'd be safe and wouldn't miss my flight. Found Laclede Taxi Service on Google and called. Laclede promised to have a driver at my place in the morning. I got a call from LaClede as the driver arrived, on-time. The ride to the airport was quick and pleasant. Car was clean, safe driver, no complaints. I paid the same price that I would've paid for a ride share compony this morning! Super grateful! I had an awful experience with Laclede Cab company yesterday. I understand that the drivers are contracted and can pick and choose their fares. But I had a 12-year-old child stranded at school for 2.5 hours because she was forgotten. The dispatcher was tired of me calling and asking how much longer and where is the cab and what was taking them so long that he finally told me to look out my window and hung up on me (I am sure he may have thought that was funny). He didn't realize that If I were at home to look out my window I would have been in my car already on my way to pick up this child. What happened to empathy and compassion for a child that is stranded, had anything happened to her, Charles would not have gotten the last laugh. The employees are a reflection of it company. If I could give a zero I would. I was at work. Usually my daily pay hits for me to take a Lyft home. Since it did not upload I had to call a cab. I haven't even thought about cabs since Lyft so I was under the impression I pay when I get to the destination. I get in the man says he needs his money upfront. So I'm like since when. So I tell him I have half my cash the other half is at home. He starts talking in another language gets out and basically opens my door to throw me out like I'm trash on the street. I do not miss this service at all and I'm sorry I had to use them. The driver called me about my pickup but didn't ask at all about being paid upfront. I've had a lot of early morning airport trips as of late, and they've picked me up every time (on time and with great attitudes.) The scene: just after 6am on a Monday morning, and my brother is driving me to the Amtrak. We hear a pop, and then the familiar feel of a blown tire dragging. Argh! I need to get to the Amtrak within 20 minutes or I'll miss my train. The solution: I call 411, and when the operator mentions Laclede Cab dispatch is located on Vandeventer, I know they're the one! My brother's car is on the shoulder of 40 heading east just shy of Vandeventer. They say they'll be there as soon as they can, and 5 minutes later, my carriage arrives. The outcome: I explain my situation and the cab driver says, "don't worry, we'll be there in 5 minutes!" Color me surprised and use the color orange. It has been eons since I used a taxi in the city of Saint Louis. I normally only use cabs when I am in Chicago or some other major city. So I needed a ride earlier this week and called Laclede and they impressed me with an A-Game. It was a simple ride from the Lindenwood neighborhood to The Gateway Station downtown. The dispatcher who answered the phone was pleasant and cheerful. She assured me the wait time would not be long and it was under 15 minuets. When the cab arrived at my home, it looked as if it had been freshly detailed. Not only was the car clean on the outside, but the inside was pristine. My driver was articulate, making small talk on the short trip pleasant. We shared a chuckle when I got in and stated "Gateway Station" as my location. He responded, "bus station?" and I in turn said, "train station, it is all the same." Nobody calls it by the correct name, typical Saint Louis. However, being a good driver, he knew where I wanted to go. So many times when in a Chicago cab, it is like riding an amusement park ride and you exit with white knuckles. Not on this trip, my driver would get the safe driver discount from All State. Also, he was as clean as his cab. His white shirt was pressed and starched for going to church. In my hometown I normally do not have a need for a cab, but when I do my new assisant Siri will be calling Laclede. read more

I had a wonderful experience today in frigid weather when I needed a cab to retrieve my car at the shop two towns over. The dispatcher was courteous and a driver texted me within minutes even though I was warned they were very busy. I was impressed that the cab came even faster than predicted and was obviously heavily sanitized and protected. I am putting this number in my phone to use from now on. 1/5/19- I had called for a cab at 9:30pm and was told one was on the way. At 10:15 still no cab. Called again, spoke to Brian and was told one was in route. At 10:30pm still no cab. An hour since I had initially called has passed and still no cab. It is by far the worst cab company. Stay away from Laclede Cab 1/27/19- Again had an issue with Laclede. Called for a cab at 12:44am to go from JJ's Clubhouse back to my home. Spoke to Brian once again. He said a cab would be on it's way. 1:15 comes and goes, no cab. 1:25 no cab, 1:35 no cab, 1:45 no cab still and this is an hour after my call. So I called and spoke to Kay and she informed me she saw where I called at 12:44am but the cab order was not put in by Brian. Now this is unacceptable. Kay was able to get a cab to me within 20 minutes of my call to her. Now in regards to Brian, he needs to be fired or something. He is not qualified to do dispatch in my opinion. Rude CSR'S and if you place a reservation early they should have someone available. Why offer reservations if you aren't going to follow them? You can take the reservation but can't hold the reservation. A big fat 0. Customer Service here is a joke. Obviously they don't care about their customers or they would do something. DON'T RELY ON THEIR APP. Called last night to schedule a 5:30 am pickup today. Phone message said to schedule pickups on their app, so I did. Called Laclede at 5:35 when the cab still hadn't shown up. They were nice but did not seem to care very much about the lateness. One man told me I would be fine getting there later. How the hell would he know? He didn't know what I needed to take care of before boarding. They said my request via the app never came through, and they kept putting me on hold. I've used this cab 5 times since I've been in St. Louis. Only one time have thhey ever been on time if I use the app or call to set an appointment for pick up a day early they are still late. How are you the featured company for fox live? I had to get a drivers personal number to get a cab on time. I used the taxi service in the late afternoon when it wasn't busy and I picked it up in a shopping area that is 5 miles from downtown. I wish I could rate the service before the taxi picked me up and after the taxi picked me up. I don't like or trust their call back service. They ask you for your name which is customary. However, they call back two -three minutes later and say we didn't get your name. That is a lie. They're just calling back to make sure it wasn't a hoax call. I also did not like the fact that they could not give me an estimated time of arrival. When the taxi arrived, it was clean, spacious and the driver was incredibly nice. She also knew the area very well. Approximately 3 miles cost $10 before the tip. Without my pleasant experience in the taxi itself, this rating would be much lower. read more

I have called Laclede three times to come pick me up at my apartment for various things and they failed all three times. This morning I called them to come get me, and asked if they would call when they are here. She said, "Oh yes, we always call or text when we are there." I further explained that that has not been the case for me - this is an apartment complex, but our unit is off to the side, and we don't have a good view of the front street. I told her that the last couple times I've called them, they parked far down the street and we never saw them and they left without telling us. She reassured us that they'd definitely call. 25 minutes later I call her back to check and make sure. She said, "Let me see....yep, you missed your cab!" WHY IS IT SO FREAKING DIFFICULT TO PICK UP YOUR PHONE AND CALL ME TO TELL ME YOU'RE OUT FRONT?! It takes two seconds! It astounds me how illogical it is because they just missed a guaranteed fare. They're never around when you need them, even after you call for a pick up! I give them 2 stars because I've used them out of sheer necessity before and because they have competitive rates, but I wouldn't rely on them for much. If you must use them, keep in mind: 1. They refuse to recognize a street corner as a valid pick up location; you have to hunt around until you find an actual address. 2. According to a driver who works for them, they engage in blacklisting. Taxi blacklisting is the act of ignoring pick up requests if anyone using your phone number has previous requested a cab and then not been at the arranged pickup location when the cab gets there. My fellow fares and I determined that your phone number gets blacklisted after 1-3 such no-shows. I know it's rude to not wait for a cab that you summon, but Laclede just takes so long to arrive that naturally you jump in the first cab you can hail, creating a catch 22 of either waiting around outside or getting blacklisted. read more

The Worst! When it's time to go out and enjoy myself, I find that it's essential to do it the right way. In other words, if I'm going to drink a few, I don't drive, and I really on public transit or a taxi service to get me around. One option that keeps disappointing me is Laclede Cab. I've had it with their lousy service. More times than not I'm pretty frustrated with the wait and overall service. And last night might have sealed the deal with Laclede. After a little late night snack at Eat-Rite, I decided that it was in my best interest to take a cab home instead of walking back. I called Laclede and waited outside the diner for about twenty minutes, watching two different empty Laclede Cabs drive by while I stood alone on the corner. Ten minutes later, after I had called some friends to pick me up, my cab strolls into the parking lot and rings my cellphone. I don't answer, since I had somebody already coming. He doesn't even stop by the corner to ask me if I was his customer. Laclede likes to push its taxi phone app. I've used it once, and things didn't work out well. You can track your taxi, and the car assigned actually picked somebody up ten miles down the road. The app told us that we were picked up, and we had to call anyway. If you live in the city, you're almost better off hailing a cab or walking to an area where cabs are usually waiting, like Ballpark Village. Don't wait on a Laclede Cab. read more

So , I had been using lacledes for awhile but no more unless I'm going somewhere other then work.. they had made me late for work two times and never let you know they are short of taxis! They made me late the second time and I guess they thought I was going to keep calling them and begging them to send me a cab bit nope! I find myself repeatedly disappointed with cab services in St. Louis, and Laclede Cab is no different. They advertise your ability to book online, using their app, or Curb (Taxi Magic), but they really seem to be using those apps to create the illusion of service, and to give them a convenient excuse for why your cab hasn't arrived after 45 minutes. In fact, my last cab was a no-show for nearly 2 hours!! You can call, which seems to work better when it comes to actually getting a cab, but their tone on the phone is so gruff that they act like you're bothering them. I had an emergency and needed to get to the airport. I called and requested a cab and moved my bags and myself to the curb in the freezing cold. 30 minutes later, nothing, so I call again. I'm assured a cab will now come. 30 minutes later, nothing. Third call results in a cab 20 minutes later. Driver could have been a carnie but she missed her perfect career. Car stunk. She was friendly though... if you know what I mean. I don't need cabs often. Next time I do, I'm going to try Uber instead. read more

I felt not satisfied with the way you charged me. I took the cab from 777 South New Ballas to South Grand. The fare is about $34.40 and I asked for pay by card, but the driver didn't let me to do it, he asked for cash, and told me it's better. Fortunately, I had cash If I didn't, I don't know how to pay. Beside that, he told me the fare is $35 and I gave him $100, he just gave me $60 back. I know I should give him some dollars for tip but you know what, I called them to book a cab and they told me they will be with me soon but I took me an hour to wait. He gave me $60 back without any word. I wonder that's is a law of your service, the driver can take a tip from customers without their permission? $5 not too much but it makes me feel like i was stolen, not a tip for a good service. I ordered a taxi at 11:15 am. They said 15-20 minutes even though I live 5 minutes from there location. Which is fine I wait. 30 minutes passes by I give them a call back. The same lady says it should be there shortly. So I wait some more. 12:15 arrives no taxi. I call again. Laclede Cab gets the job done, but it isn't always pretty. I've been car-less for nearly two weeks, so I've been taking the bus to work and social functions. Sometimes, though, the bus doesn't cut it and you can't always hitch with friends. In a few of those situations, I've dialed Laclede Cab because of their easy phone number, their prominence and their claim of being cheaper than other cab companies. My first two rides were great. I dialed around 6 p.m for a ride "as soon as you can," and the dispatcher promised a cab within 15 minutes. Sweet! Sure enough, the cabs were on time. One even arrived early and waited at no charge. My third time, I tried to schedule a pickup 30 minutes in advance for a morning. The dispatcher got huffy and said that they only schedule an hour or more out. I asked why, if that were the case, did the previous dispatchers promise and deliver a cab's arrival in fewer minutes? The dispatcher got growly again, said she didn't know whom I'd been talking to, and that *maybe* I'd get lucky and get one soon. I asked how long it would actually be before the cab came, and she gave me a long story about only dispatching cab orders every 15 minutes. "Soooo ... it might come in 15 minutes or it might come in an hour?" "Yep." Sigh. I ordered it, but she said again that it likely would only be 15 minutes. 30 minutes later, I was still cabless, so I flagged down a different cab company so I could make it to my meeting on time. Fail. However, when I called tonight, I got the super nice, super speedy service again. What the hell? These cabs do take credit cards, but it takes a while to process. They don't just swipe your card and send yoy on your way. They make a carbon copy of your card, write down your card numbers, fiddle with...something else, and then make you sign it. GREAT Service!! This is the only cab company I used while I've been in St. Louis this week. I think it's has the cheapest fare for airport to downtown...$25 (compare to $40-$50 if you catch one from the airport cab stand). Just give them a call when you arrive at the airport, they will meet you at the baggage claim level. read more

Used them 3 times during a business trip to St. Louis. Phone reps were nice but took a little while to find addresses and locations. 2/3 of the drivers were friendly, helpful and talkative. The first time I used Laclede Cab, I was disappointed. I had an emergency and needed to go somewhere at 4AM, and I waited almost half an hour for a cab. When you're writhing in pain and need to get to the ER, that's kinda not cool. But when I needed a ride to the airport at the crack of dawn and called them the night before, I had exceptional service. They texted me 10 minutes before my cab arrived, letting me know it had been dispatched. My driver was early, his cab was impeccably clean, he consulted me on my preferred route to Lambert and he didn't bother me with inappropriate questions (uh yes, I've had cabbies do that before). All in all, if you give them advance notice, this is a great cab company. If you need a spur of the moment ride though, you'll probably have to wait. read more

Worst service ever! The dispatcher was incredibly sarcastic and condescending. We called for a taxi ride from South County to Dog Town.. After asking about an ETA, she said that she wasn't able to give me one, but I would get an automated message when the cab was "close". After getting that notice, my partner and I went outside to look for this cab, only to NEVER SEE IT. I called back shortly before quarter til 10, dispatcher told me that the driver would give my number a call when he got here. No call. I called back after 75 minutes and canceled. After a condescending talk from dispatcher, she nonchalantly told me that the cab HAD been IN FRONT of my apartment building at 9:30... Laclede cab is USUALLY tolerable.. never very good service, but tolerable. After this, I wouldn't recommend this company to my in-laws or enemies. AVOID AT ALL COST! read more
