THIS IS NO LONGER A COM TAM RESTAURANT. This is now a Vietnamese food-to-go restaurant like their Garden Grove location. It sells typical Vietnamese comfort food, banh bao, and xoi la Sen (lotus sticky rice) . The menu is completely in Vietnamese and they didn't have the food out in front so I just picked what I knew (thit kho trung and canh chua). I unfortunately don't know all the names of the food I ate growing up. Buying a xoi la sen gives you a free coffee or passion fruit drink. Buying two meals gets you a plate of white rice. Haven't tried the canh chua yet but the thit kho and xoi la sen taste fine and filled me up. read more

I came on a Saturday around 12:30pm with surprisingly no wait for dine-in. We were looking for a new spot to try bo ne or the sizzling plate for brunch and stumbled across this place. I didn't come in with much expectation since it wasn't as highly rated as other trending places for bo ne or banh mi chao, but I'm glad I did! We ordered one bo ne and one crispy pork belly banh mi. The sizzle plate came out sizzling and the baguette on the side was warm, toasted, and super fluffy inside. Even after cooling, the bread was crisp outside and soft inside, not stale or hard at all. The sizzle plate itself seemed to be a bigger portion that I was used to, no complaints. I enjoyed the tender meat and multiple egg yolks to mix with the sauce and dip my bread in. Sauce is a little on the sweeter side. I must say, this dish has impressed me more than other places that charge +$8 for a similar, maybe less impressive dish. Will definitely be coming back for this! I only had a bite of the crispy pork banh mi, but wow, it was definitely crisp! A cozy little restaurant in a tight plaza with challenges with parking, but the reward will be worth the journey out on to Bolsa Ave.; the Bo ne here did not disappoint! Upon entering the girls at the counter make you feel very welcomed and greet you right away. They come over quickly with a bottle of iced tea to share and menus to order. Coming here in the AM post work out, I really needed some protein. I was displeased with the several other spots I stopped in for bo ne the ENTIRE WEEK, cause really?! I think all my millennial counterparts understand; all our favorites are gone :( ahem. But onto newer and better things... :) I was surprised to say the least the bo ne plate was fabulous! And the bread was so good I ate the whole thing! I was trying to stay away from carbs but it was soo well worth it. The bread was warm, fresh, has the right amount of crunchy outside and soft, pillowy inside. It went well with the sizzling plate and soaked up all the extra yummy sauce with my steak bites. This spot is on my list of go to places in Orange county. It's a small area so there's always going to be a little bit of a wait, but it's always worth it. They only have a few things on the menu but they do it very well. Me and my girl went here at the end of our visit and I wish I found it earlier because I would come here at least once a day. The good: I got mi xao kho, pork belly banh mi, banh cuon and they gave us free goi cuon (spring rolls), jasmine milk tea with crystal boba, and Vietnamese coffee. The value was unbeatable. The to-go boxes and packaging were trendy and fun. It looked tribal and was very well packaged (even the stickers were branded). The portion sizes were good. The banh cuon was thin, fine (translucent) and soft. I liked the fried shallots they gave and the spicy paste. The pork patty was yummy too. The bread for the banh mi was very fluffy and light. When toasted, it crumbled like dust. The bad: The drinks are definitely on the sweet side so you need that ice to melt a lot before you drink it. I think I like the pork belly in Carrot and Daikon's sandwiches better but I liked the bread here better. No matter what time of day or which day I come , it is always packed. When we ordered the Bo Ne, meat version only, they keep bringing out the version with shrimp included. My husband and I waited almost 30 minutes from when we ordered to receive our food. His coffee came out super quick, but I had to remind the waitress to bring out tea and utensils for us. Service is pretty inconsistent here. Sometimes it's average, sometimes below average. When they first opened, they were great, but ever since they stopped using the fancy to-go packaging, things have slowly gone downhill overall. That said, their bánh mì kẹp (SUPER reasonably priced) is still my favorite thing on the menu. You can't go wrong with toasted bread, juicy meat, and perfectly pickled veggies. If you're ordering bánh mì to go, ask for the veggies on the side so they don't get warm and mushy inside the crispy bread. Wanted to gate keep this place but figured this business needs more love than it's received. Lac Viet Concepts has such flavorful, affordable eats with quality ingredients. It is a small restaurant with a small parking lot but is very cozy and the service is great. Customers are provided with free tea when sitting in. They offer a different price for sit in versus to go. It seems most people order to go but I liked dining in. I ordered the Bó Nè and enjoyed how fresh it was. This has been one of my favorite new finds! We've been here twice but both times were memorable. Very simple menu but everything is good. Both the Com Ne and the Bo Ne are tasty but I find I like the Com Ne more. The rice they serve is delicious and with the sauce it's more satisfying than the bread. We also always get the banh mi so it's nice to have the variety of rice and bread. The flavor is on point and everything is cooked well. Lac Viet has won my heart with their small menu and cute/modern hole in the wall vibes. Located in a tiny strip mall somewhat near Lee's and SC2, I almost missed this place when driving. Their specialties are Vietnamese skillet dishes and banh mi, and I can tell that keeping the menu small has helped them deliver on flavor! Service was pretty good. You can order to-go (which is cheaper than dining in) at the counter, but if you're eating at the restaurant you'll need to take a seat. This was a little confusing at first to be honest because I didn't see any signs that tell you to do that, but it's not a big deal. Servers are quick to take your order and it's a straightforward, no nonsense experience. Bo ne: 5/5 - this classic Vietnamese skillet dish consisting of beef steak, eggs, onions, and tomatoes in a rich savory sauce truly delivered exactly what I wanted. The beef wasn't overcooked and the sauce was so flavorful I didn't need to add any of the sauces they have at the tables; perfect sauce to soak up with the baguettes that come with your meal. LOVE this place. Everything is always good, fresh, and clean. My friend and I came here and were immediately greeted with cold tea in a take-out cup (with a free refill station!). I ordered the Bò né and she ordered the Cơm tấm. My dish came with hearty, yet balanced servings of beef, tomato, egg, mushrooms, shrimp cake, and French bread for dipping. Was craving bo ne so I went to this place that I found on Yelp. Parking lot was a bit small but I was able to find parking easy probably since I came here close to 2pm on a Saturday. There was limited seating but since I was a party of one, I was seated pretty quick. There wasn't much on the menu, but that's ok because I only came there for one thing. The beef sizzling plate was pretty good and I would definitely be back, but I think the only thing missing was pate? Other than that, the customer service was great, they provide free ice green tea, and the restaurant was clean. Checked out Lac Viet Concept after spotting it on the way to lunch. We were early, so we decided to stop by and see what they had. It seems like they're in a soft opening phase (or at least I hope so) because things felt a bit disorganized--there wasn't even a menu to look at. We ended up just grabbing what we saw in front: sweet sticky rice and spring rolls. The sticky rice was solid--coconut shreds, mung bean, sesame seeds, and a creamy coconut sauce all came together nicely. For the spring rolls, we got one of each type, and the bi (pork skin) spring roll was definitely my favorite. The others were decent, and I liked the peanut dipping sauce. Overall, the food was tasty for what it was, but they definitely need to get things more organized. Hopefully, they'll smooth things out soon! read more

Only went here to pick up some Banh Mi for the drive home for my family. I don't eat beef or pork so I couldn't try any of the options that they had. Difficult to get into the parking lot and out of it because the Main Street is packed. The space inside was modern. On the right side is the register and ordering food to go. On the left side is for dine in. It seemed like everyone was going fast paced and in a rush? Sometimes I wonder if the person was trying to rush me and get things done? Or that's just how they operate because of a long line? But I looked behind me and there was no one. I felt that they were a touch impatient when I was trying to figure out what to get. But you definitely get your food and drinks pretty fast! But I was only like third in line and it wasn't popping like other days that I have heard from other people. My Vietnamese coffee (cafe sua da) you can tell by the color that it was going to be some strong coffee! The cup had a bunch of ice but it was the nice small crunchy ice. Makes it easier to melt for you to casually sip on your coffee. It was strong coffee flavor, not acidic but dark and roasty and smooth. And then you get hints of creamy sweetness from the condensed milk. Depending on my mood is when I want more condensed milk or not. But that day I needed the fuel for the drive back to San Diego. The color was a bit on the darker side (less milk) than the lighter side (too much milk). Will I come here again? Maybe? Was the drink that memorable for me? It was all right. Worth the wait. We waited about 30 minutes during Sunday lunch, but once you step inside, the atmosphere feels completely different. Even though it was busy, you can tell the team is doing their best to stay calm and provide good service. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. It also felt very family-friendly. They even offered free ice cream for the kids, which was a really nice touch. The iced tea with fresh mint leaves was also refreshing and made the experience even better. The liquid to ice ratio should be higher. - They placed the sizzling steak skillet on the table but away from me and then walked away. The handle was still hot, but I didn't burn myself too badly. - When prompted for a receipt, entering my phone number for a text receipt didn't work.
