Locations like these illustrate the frustrating effect of a lab test duopoly (Labcorp and Quest) and the lack of oversight that comes with it. This location is awful in every way. The front desk is frequently vacant. The receptionists are rude. The wait times - with or without appointment - are often very long. It's just that there are basically few alternatives in the area and they take full advantage of it. Don't come here unless you have no functional alternative. It's terrible. read more

The gentleman who took my Urine was great! I wasn't there long I would say 10 minutes or less. But I wouldn't recommend this location only if you're in need. The young lady that helped me was good too. But the other young lady who set behind the desk with her I'm not sure if she was aware that I heard her conversation. And I want her to be mindful of customers and personal conversations while at work. Cursing and having inappropriate conversations aren't for the front desk or an area where customers can hear you. I don't want to come to a work place to take care of business and hear that! It's just a turn off. read more

I arrived at 9:55AM. Drug testing starts at 10. They had me wait 45min to be seen for drug testing. My urine was 0.25ml short and was told I had to wait another hour to test again. I could not wait another hour, so it was marked as refusal to test and I lost my job. DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE! They are VERY rude and unprofessional. read more

I've gone to Labcorp at 1145 19th St, NW since Covid closed the one in my PCP's office. I just had to leave a review because the phlebotomist here gave me the LEAST painful blood draw I have ever had. Literally 0 pain or discomfort, from the annoying part where they tie your arm, to the needle I DID NOT FEEL, to the bandage that comes off with absolutely no irritation. What. I wish I remembered her name but today she was the only person drawing blood. Also, the wait time for me (as a walk-in) was completely reasonable - I was in and out of there in 20-30 minutes. Based on the reviews on here I was very nervous to go, but since my insurance takes them I sucked it up and went. This isn't a fancy place but it's definitely better than most self check-in, in-and-out places I've been to. I got there about 15 min before my 11am appointment on a Thursdays and was out by 10:53 -- they are FAST. I also have in the past had a lot of trouble getting blood work done because of my veins but my technician was a miracle worker and had zero issues finding a vein. I am knocking one star because I do think they could have been a bit more patient-focused. But I think most places do a kind of bad job of explaining the check out process. I just walked out so assuming I'll get my results at some point...will update this review if I have any billing issues, which could be a deal breaker. read more

I would not have thought to write a review for lab services, but when I did a web search for the location I found these Yelp reviews, so here's mine. I had to get a pre-employment drug test for my new job - a new experience! - and this is the location closest to me. The experience was pretty much as expected: the service is curt. I would not call it rude, but they certainly aren't warm and fuzzy. It's a little like going through TSA at the airport. The woman taking my sample was very particular: put your bags on this chair, use this pen. When you provide the urine sample, you have 3 minutes in the bathroom, and you may not wash your hands or flush the toilet. (You wash your hands before and after with the staff member in the room.) I guess they have a lot of folks trying to put one over on them, so they are no-nonsense. You don't need an appointment, although you may make one. Be aware that the last drug tests have to be done one hour before the office closes. read more

I went the express check-in kiosk. It gave me a something went wrong message and directed me to front desk. I go to front desk and tell the receptionist what happened and that I need to check in and she replies that I'm already checked in and to have a seat. 30 minutes later I go back to front desk to confirm that I'm checked in and different receptionist informed me that I was not. Meaning I would be being about 7 other people now. I had to leave. read more

If there was a zero star option, I would choose that one. When I arrived for my appointment I was told their system was down; which I understand is not their fault. They asked to sign-in on a paper, as opposed to using their e-checkin machine, and I did. Soon after their system was back-up and the whole staff was stepping over each other and taking people to the back who had arrived after me and weren't signed in, and then they began to sign in people but overlooked the sign-in paper - it was a hot mess. The technician who drew my blood was kind and patient -- she really worked with me even though I was feeling uneasy throughout the process (I tend to get lightheaded and I hate seeing blood!). This lab is very convenient if you work downtown. For a summertime, mid-day Tuesday appointment, I was in and out in about 30 minutes. The people working there did a good job, and they kindly and efficiently accommodated my request to have my legs elevated to get blood drawn. This is more like 2.5 stars. I know the wait could be ridiculously long and I always make an appointment to avoid the long wait. I arrived 3 mins before my appointment and 2 patients walked in right before me. We all signed in. Neither of them had an appointment but I did. Well, automatically I assume I would get called first as the appointment time was right there. NOOOO! They go in the order of signups! I didn't get into the collection room until 15 mins after my appointment time. I noticed the same practice on another patient who had an appointment and arrived on time for it but had to wait in the signup order. My technician was very pleasant and polite. Don't come here you will be waiting more than an hour. I checked in at 8:50 am. I gave them 45 minutes grace before my patience wore out. When I asked how many people were ahead of me the clerk laughed and said a lot. When I asked how many was "a lot" she pointed to everybody in the room. After I asked for my ID back the number quickly decreased to "two people ahead of you". I told them they move too slow, got my ID back and left. I shouldn't have had to wait that long to begin with. Another gentleman in the room who had been there longer than me was about to mess his pants waiting on them. Go to the Arlington location. Terrible. 1. Stood in an empty waiting room and was ignored. 2. Same tech took my info and drew my blood without washing her hands between the credit card transaction and putting on her gloves. 3. Tech printed up info for the WRONG person and gave me forms to sign that had someone else's name all over them. She clearly had not checked anything. 4. Tech could not draw blood properly. My skin is see-through and my veins are prominent. After inserting the needle, she realized it was not yielding blood and started moving it around in my arm. When I flinched she scolded me and told me that she was just moving because I kept moving. Bullshit. She didn't hit the vein properly. 5. Went there again (mistake) and was turned away for not fasting prior to a test. Stupidly, I didn't protest... only to call my doctor and find out that she was wrong. I had an appointment, showed up early, and still ended up waiting a half hour (while only one person went in ahead of me). When I asked the woman how much longer it would be - since it was already 25 minutes after my appointment, she emanated attitude, "well, look around" (sweeping gesture) "there isn't anyone else but you so I guess you're next." Helpful. Seriously. In the end, they couldn't even do the test I needed and told me I had to go outside the District to do so. It's a standard work drug test people! For the government! I'm typically in and out in less than 5 minutes, even without an appointment. Also, all the phlebotomists are the best I've ever worked with - minimal pain at the needle site. I've never seen a more aggressively apathetic group of people in my life. They were taking on average 30 minutes to do pre-employment drug screens (which yes, involves simply peeing in a cup). Drug usage makes not a phlebotomist (Translation: Dude, just 'cause you look like you just shot up does not mean that I want you taking my blood!) Slave to the health care company, I had to go back to this lab to take a drug test. Please don't take blood from me... not because I'm squeamish but because I was worried that I'd contract some disease while at this lab. It all seems harmless enough, as this lab is housed in one of those nondescript office buildings near K street. Do not be fooled by the elevator ride or the hallways (sometimes, the guys lined up in the hallway are paying for 15 minutes of lunchtime delivery). But I digress. The labcorp office is boring white and not so scary. I continually have to go "back" to find a water fountain and drink drink like a fiend. Usually I have the bladder of a fly but, perhaps because of performance angst, today I'm a camel. It takes me two hours of drinking plastic cups of water to get enough for the sample. Two hours is way more than enough time to recall my last experience at this lab. That time, I had to have blood drawn. No, it doesn't make me scared. Or rather it hadn't until that time. I sat in the school desk chair and let the guy get his stuff together. I usually try to watch. (He seemed a little distracted. He didn't wear gloves. His nails look grimy. But I trust him. He's wearing a lab coat.) He tapped at my arm. I told him that it was usually hard to find my vein (I have thick, but smooth, skin and plenty of subcutaneous fat). He grunted. He tapped again. He plunged the needle in. OOOW. I'm not a wuss. I gritted my teeth. He tapped the container. Strange. No blood was going in. He grabbed the needle and yanked it around in a 360 motion. IN MY ARM. Ohn mein gudt!!! That much pain seems abnormal. I try to tell him but I can't. My jaw is locked. My teeth are grinding. I can hear the air hissing as I suck it in through my teeth. The last time I felt pain like that was when I got stabbed. But this is slow grinding. Finally it's over. Normally, my skin heals up before the bandage goes on. Not only did my arm feel like I'd put it in the blender... the bruise was the size of an eggplant slice. It also took two weeks to heal. I showed my booboo to my medically inclined bonus-Mom and she was horrified! She recoiled! This last time (the fly-camel bladder time), I did not see that phlebotomist.
