I had an appt at 745am and checked in on my phone 2 min later. The waiting room seats only 10 ppl so half waiting area, people are standing or waiting in the hallway. After 20 min of waiting, I get called to the front desk and they tell me they don't have my lab requests from my doctor. They tell me I can keep my appt as long as my doctor's office, who already sent it back in March (2months ago), will resend it again. Also proceeds to tell me that if I came in 15-30 min prior to my appointment time, I would be seen on time. What logic is that? No where in the email or text confirmation does it state I need to come in earlier than my set appointment time. I call my doc office to resend it, they receive it at labcorp 15min later. They continue to have me wait and after a full hour since my appt, I still have not been called inside. They claim they keep all requests for a year but don't have my record from 2 months ago? When I do get called it, the tech asks if I have already given a urine sample, when I tell her I haven't, nothing happens. She finishes getting my blood samples and then says I can leave. I had to remind her about the urine sample, which is ridiculous! There should be a checking system to ensure they have everything from their patient before moving on. This office needs a better way to handle, organize and manage the patients info and wait time because this is unacceptable! 4/2/25 Took auntie for lab's after her doctor's appt, convenient & maybe the best time to go since there was hardly any patients waiting. Located inside PIH Downey, patients can get their labs drawn after visiting their health care providers (provided they don't need to be fasting for their ordered labs). You check in at one the 3 kiosks there , easy peasy! Staff were seen on their phone while we're the only ones waiting to be seen. It took awhile for them (about 5-7 minutes before closing) to inform us they're verifying the type of labs from the physician's office. One staff said they called & no one answered. My aunt said she was just at the appt & when she calls, they usually answer right away. Sure enough, my aunt called & instantly, the doctor's office picked up. From that scenario, not very convinced the professional code is observed but who knows, perhaps they already clocked out but just hanging out while seated at the front desk? In short, we waited. All right guys, FIRST AND FOREMOST... let me tell you that respect is earned, and THIS DOWNEY location at 11480 Brookshire, has AWESOME Care Associates (don't like to call them employees). Let me explain what happened to me on MY FIRST APPOINTMENT HERE: First of all, I went with the OPTION (which you all have the option to do, so no griping about the long waits) is I made an appointment! I elected for a 10:00 am appointment. (Told to arrive 15 mins early) since I had not been to this location before, I allowed myself an extra 15 mins. They also sent me a reminder the day before. On that reminder, it states clearly that you can check-in from your car, or lobby as long as you are close enough to arrive at the check-in counter with-in a FEW MINUTES. You GOTTA TRY THIS!!! When I arrived, I sat in the parking lot, opened up the text again, and clicked the button that says, "I'm here." Checked-in at 9:43. Got a response that they received my check-in and that they'd let me know when it was my turn. FIVE MINUTES LATER, not 10, not 15, not 30 mins, BUT FIVE MINUTES LATER, at 9:48, I received the text that it was my turn now. I walked right into the office. By the way, the office lobby was packed. Lots of people waiting...(my guess is they didn't make an appointment) nite: they do take walk ins, too. The charming young lady in the front, JESSICA, was amazing! You see I had made two appointments for two separate doctors who both wanted some of my blood. (Drs appointments are months apart) Jessica, saw the orders and asked if I wanted to do they all now... in which I responded, "sure, if that's an option!" It sure was. And she compiled the orders and omitted requests that were duplicated. THANK YOU, JESSICA, you made my life so much easier today. Thank you for not just being a "robot" and actually taking the time to look at my account. I went directly back to a room where CYNTHIA drew my blood. I remarked that I didn't even feel her place the needle in. She smiled. She was exceptionally nice and I appreciated that. So, THANK YOU, CYNTHIA, for a pleasant experience. OVERALL guys, I feel that you all there are running a heartfelt place where you know people have to get poke and some may be uncomfortable. Walked in the office a little after 1pm, was greeted, and checked in immediately! Got called about 3 mins after my check in and was asked to go to Room 1. The phlebotomist was nice and super gentle. I couldn't be more pleased with the care I received and the experience overall. It's barely 1:20 now and I'm already done getting my lab work completed. I did as instructed and checked in with a girl with red hair who told me to sit down. An hour passed at 250 I asked how much longer. They told me I was past my testing window. I have been trying to get a drug test per employment requirement for the last two weeks... their available appointments are far in few in between maybe like two or three weeks out minimum. On top of the employee drug testing availability hours being limited within their daily hours, it was my assumption that if a drug testing was from 12:30 to 2:30 PM if I got there around 1:30 I would be able to join the queue. This is not the case because the front desk staff told me that the queue for employee urine drug testing starts when their regular hours start. By the time I got there they have already met their maximum walk-ins for the day which was super disheartening because not only I've been trying to do this for weeks but today I had to leave work early and drive an extra 40 minutes out of my way..... That being said, I explained my situation and the wonderful staff. Vanessa had agreed to take me back if there was a cancellation. She was quick and efficient and extremely personable. Definitely a fantastic healthcare worker through and through because I know that this type of job cannot be easy... SO to Vanessa for seeing how dire my situation was and providing quality care. I went for labs after being racially discriminated against by a plus size Caucasian woman in the La Mirada clinic where she refused to even run my insurance and I waited over an hour and a half for a scheduled appointment. I have stage 4 cancer and by a miracle I m pregnant . This being extremely high risk situation I am also handicapped from my treatments and it takes me awhile to walk. My daughter was very hurt by the actions of the previous Labcorp employee so I just drove to the Downey location called into the help center and complained but they said rush to Downey and try to to get it done as my labs were a stay order from obgyn. I arrived at Downey a bundle of emotions and expecting more attitudes and disrespect but I was wrong. I arrived still hurt over my prior encounter my daughter checked me in and complained about our experience with the ladies at the reception desk. I was listed as a walk in but they still took me I was able to get my glucose test and the lady was clear be back at this time nd let us know if I don't call you at that time. I let the woman know when it was time she drew my blood and engaged in a kind and entertaining convo about tacos it was refreshing to speak to a person and be treated human. The nurse that took my blood reported my incident to her supervisor that above and beyond support was appreciated I felt valued. No they aren't a fancy place and yes the ladies talked to each other and used phones but when I asked questions I was helped promptly when I was hurt by my prior experience I was acknowledged and action taken. On top of that I didn't just get poked and released I was engaged with in conversation and look forwards to returning they have a nice team. I will also say many places like Lynwood or even la mirada deny service to folks for bogus reasons out of laziness or lack of respect either way they send them to Downey and they are already over booked yet they hustle hard to accommodate and them putting in that extra effort can have a toll as well. Be patient be understanding often you'll get the same in return in my case they could've met my reluctance with more negativity but I was treated like a patient and someone whom they value which shows they aren't bad people if you had a bad experience try letting someone know while there and allow them to work with you. The nurse that I had was small framed and had red colored hair she listened to my daughter and listened and helped me . She lowered my blood pressure God is good and she's a good person. read more

I went for lab work today. I made an appointment a week prior. When I arrived I checked in from my phone. 5 mins later I got a text that they were ready for me. I saw the negative reviews on Yelp so I wasn't sure what to expect. The lab is on the 4th floor. When I walked in it was just me and 2 other women waiting. The office was essentially empty and quiet. I have a functional MD as a dr so of course she sent me with a very long hand written request for tests. When the lady at the window saw it she was nice but told me it may take a while to sort out all the tests that my Dr ordered. It took them a while but it was due to the fact that some were tests they weren't familiar with because they are rare and some required the doctor's input. My doctor's office wasn't answering every time they called them so eventually we agreed to proceed with what they could do. Once they reach my doctor they will let know so we can reschedule for the remaining tests. When it was time for me to have my blood drawn the girl was incredibly friendly and nice to speak with. We had a fun conversation. It took both arms to get the 27 (!!!!) vials of blood that my doctor requested but eventually we finished with a urine specimen. Tip: lock the bathroom door when you use it! Some lady did not do that when I walked in on her mid stream. I'm not sure why I should have to say this but just lock the door! The entire time I was there I did not experience anyone who was rude nor did I hear personal conversations. I thought everyone was very professional. I will not have any problem coming here in the future. Parking was also plentiful. read more

This is my first time coming to this location. I only came here because it was the closest to me that had appointment availability. First off, they have you do your urine sample in a shared bathroom in the building; which is unsanitary and inconvenient. I had to carry my urine sample down the hall back into the Labcorp lobby where tons of people were waiting. There is a bathroom within the lab that they don't have patients use. Secondly, my one year old had to do his first blood draw (which I mentioned) and they handle it so poorly. The technician took way too long to find a usable vein, looking at both arms. He was already so scared and she herself was flustered calling for another technician to help her. Now both technicians are hovering trying to find a usable vein. By the time they decided to try the technician said to the other "oh, I probably should've gotten the needle ready huh?" When she finally got the needle ready she said she couldn't find the vein anymore. Then when she tried and didn't pull any blood, both technicians tried to situate the needle deeper and to the left/right to try and get blood drawn. I was doing the best I could to soothe my son who was rightfully crying. When they were debating on trying for the other arm, I told them let's not force it and I can try coming back another time. Absolutely worse experience and my poor son had to experience that without even successfully finishing the lab. read more

I had went in on a Tuesday at 12:30 on the dot once the office opened after lunch and needed a drug screening. I got in within 40 minutes! The waiting area does get packed so you may stand until you possibly get a seat. Its small also so be advised! You do need to be in the room at all times because when they call your name and you arent in the room they will not let you in for whatever you are visiting for after they called your name twice! So stay in the room. It wasnt the cleanest in regards to restrooms but i went in and out for my testing. But i would recommend you get there early to get situated early! What a joke this place is. Needed to do fasting labs and chose the earliest appointment possible because of the fact that I couldn't eat or drink anything before. It's an hour later and I have yet to be seen. I'm leaving now because A) I scheduled a babysitter for this, B) I'm very hungry, and C) they're now closing in 30 minutes. I've only been to this labcorp twice. And both times I had such a good experience! My first time going I made an appointment and the receptionist was super nice and informative. It was during the morning so it was busy but I was since on time! My second time I didn't make an appointment and was a walk in instead, again the receptionist (not the same) but was super nice! I was seen in less than 10-15 mins from when I was checked in. And the receptionist turned out to b my phlebotomist! I didn't get her name but she was wearing a bun and glasses! It is very difficult to get a prompt appointment online when the doctor needs results properly. Appointments are 4-6 weeks later. So your only option is to walk in. Walked in at opening time, 630 am. Waites 1 and a half and walked out because i had to go to work. They are overwhelmed with patient load. I feels sorry for the employees , they try to do their best! Went to the one in Lakewood but it's being remodeled (that should have been mentioned on yelp) so had to go to the next closest one. Parking is pretty bad not because the lot is small but because so many people go to this facility. Lab Corp shares w a medical clinic. That was probably my only Con. Checked in with the iPad, and they called me within 5 min to do a UA and then again within 5 min to do my blood test. I probably lucked out with the time though because there was only 2 people ahead of me. I came around 10. When I left the waiting room was packed, that quick. The phlebotomist was excellent. His name is Edgar. He assessed both arms and went with a spot he knew he can get. I already knew the veins in the antecubital are deep and would be hard to find. He clearly knew what he was doing and went with the forearm. I needed 4 tubes to fill so he picked a good vein. The poke didn't even hurt that much and no bruising afterwards either. If I need more blood work I may just drive the extra minutes to go to him. read more

The lab is very clean and organized. The staff is curteous and professional EXCEPT a woman by the name of MISHONE she one RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL human being.
