Anyways, we ordered the Radish Pancake ($12), Korean Kimchi Pancake ($12), Peppered Oyster Mushroom ($18), Sesame Cold Noodles ($15) and Korean Jajamyun ($15). Ugh. So the radish was SPOILED. The Ma La Xiang Guo used to be a vibrant bright red, coated in rich, flavorful chili oil and sauce. There was always plenty of leftover sauce at the bottom that was perfect for making delicious Ma La fried rice the next day. Now it's much drier, less flavorful, and doesn't have the same spicy, numbing kick. It's really disappointing because this used to be one of my favorite spots. You get the sweetness from the meat, umami from the soup and everything just goes really well together. I always refill the side dishes at least twice whenever I come here. They taste fresh and doesn't taste overly salty or too sweet like some places. Another thing I like is their combo actually comes with a regular size tofu soup.
