No frills sidewalk cafe serving typical Chilean and Latin food.
Out of the numerous restaurants in the area, it's difficult to choose one. After traveling for awhile I get tired of the obvious touristy places, as I feel the quality and integrity of the food may be compromised. On the other hand, depending on the country a more touristy spot could be a safer and more hygienic. But Santiago is a large city, so most of the food is safe to eat.
I ordered a typical Chilean dish called chorillana, which was on special and came with a drink of my choice. I chose pisco sour, as Chile makes pisco, therefore, "when in Chile"! They are strong, too. If you don't know what's in a chorillana, it's basically fries, caramelized onions, some meats (sausage, chicken, beef, pork), and an egg on top. Very simple, very filling, and delicious. In case you didn't know, a lot of the typical Chilean (and Argentina) dishes have fries. Don't ask me why, but it's a thing. Just roll with it.
Anywho, this place served its purpose and also some of the staff speaks basic English! This is a big plus because you'll realize if you ever travel South America that not many people speak English.
If you want a simple, delicious, open air kinda meal, come here! I felt like a local. read more
