As it was late, some items were not available so I've opted for an Argentinian steak with a side of fries and avocado salad. The steak itself was delicious, tender and cooked as requested. Fries were undercooked but once returned they were great. As for the avocado salad ... they sent me a sliced avocado. I had to argue with the waiter that an avocado salad and sliced avocado are two very different things. I finally got a salad that tasted nice.

And for my main course, I had asked if they served any chilean seabass and I was pointed to the Merluza. It came as a thicker cut than what I was expecting so was very hearty and could have used more flavor / sauce. I paid a bit more than I would have liked to for the meal I got, but still a nice meal in Lastarria thanks to the patio!

Tip: They don't only serve tapas but also main dishes which include their menu del dia. It starts at 12:30pm and for 13 mil you get a 3 course meal plus either a glass of wine, pisco sour or beer and a coffee or tea! After traveling for awhile I get tired of the obvious touristy places, as I feel the quality and integrity of the food may be compromised. On the other hand, depending on the country a more touristy spot could be a safer and more hygienic. But Santiago is a large city, so most of the food is safe to eat. I ordered a typical Chilean dish called chorillana, which was on special and came with a drink of my choice. I chose pisco sour, as Chile makes pisco, therefore, "when in Chile"! They are strong, too. If you don't know what's in a chorillana, it's basically fries, caramelized onions, some meats (sausage, chicken, beef, pork), and an egg on top. Very simple, very filling, and delicious. In case you didn't know, a lot of the typical Chilean (and Argentina) dishes have fries. Don't ask me why, but it's a thing. Just roll with it. Anywho, this place served its purpose and also some of the staff speaks basic English! This is a big plus because you'll realize if you ever travel South America that not many people speak English. If you want a simple, delicious, open air kinda meal, come here! I felt like a local.
