Grilled octopus - soft and tasty!
Eileen R.

A lovely find in the Bellavista sector of Santiago. I Ubered from my hotel to this great little place. The Uber drive dropped me off in front of an entryway and told me to walk through the doorway and there I would find my restaurant. Once you walk in, you'll find a courtyard with various restaurants and establishments. Barrica 94 is located on the right side, immediately behind the Starbucks. I got there very early - around 4pm - and the place was deserted. Too late for lunch and too early for dinner. I chose a table just outside the glass wall since the weather was temperate, and it afforded me shade. My server was very responsive. A wine flight seemed to be the way to start. I ordered the Ensamblaje Tinto which consisted of 4 full reds: 1. Capricho, Viña La Prometida, a 2016 Merlo from Caucquenes. This was a very light red, but tasty nonetheless. The server put them in order from light to fullest, so it was a good start. 2. Andes Plateau, Cota 500, a 2016 Cab Sav from Maipo. Medium body with a hint of spice. I'd definitely order this again. 3. Undurraga, T.H., a 2015 Carmenere from Chachapoal. Full body red and very delicious. 4. Vik, Mila Cala, a 2013 Cab Sav/Carmenere/Cab Franc/Merlot/Syrah. Rich red with fantastic legs. Definitely the best of the bunch! With the first two wines, I ate grilled octopus (Pulpo Grillado), which was soft and sweet on the inside with just a hint of crunch on the outside. Served with a balsamic drizzle and a herb sauce. Had I ordered it for my main meal with a few sides, I would have been very satisfied. But I needed to try at least one other thing on the menu. I ordered the Tuna steak Tartar (Tartare de Atún) which was perfectly cooked; just slightly seared on the outside. Encrusted with ground pistachios, it has a sweet flavor thanks to the passion fruit and avocado dressing. The portion was very generous. It comes with a side, and I ordered French fries which were homemade and yummy. I'm sure it's a busy place at night considering the great food and the wine selections. Be sure to include Barrica 94 on your tour of Santiago. You won't regret it!

Este lugar no ofrecía vuelos de vino, pero el mesero me ayudó a crear uno de su selección. La comida y los servicios eran geniales.

Good food, good wine, and service. Barrica 94 offers multiple flights of 4 wines; each around $15. I ordered the Tinto flight and tasted 4 Chilean red wines; all were great, but my favorite was the merlot. I also had the ensalada Color which was a huge salad with grains, beet chips, avocado, chia seeds, artichoke hearts, and avocado lemon dressing. Yum! I rounded it off with a chocolate ice cream cake like dessert called semifreddo. This restaurant is a bit more expensive than my budget for the day, but I enjoyed it.

We honestly only came here for the wine but ended up getting some appetizers as well. They suggested we sit downstairs bc upstairs was busy with one server and we would receive quicker service downstairs but our service was still slow. We had to ask about our order a couple times. It was three of us and we each decided to get a flight of four wines, both reds and whites, and shared them. My sister ordered seafood empanadas which were deliciously saucy but a little salty. My cousin ordered French fries which are always good. I ordered fried octopus and fried shrimp. It didn't have much flavor. It tasted like they battered the coating but didn't season it. If you're looking to sample some wines come here and get a flight.

Another must-stop wine bar in Bellavista (a seemingly common occurrence). Tuesday night, not too packed inside, so we were able to get nice seats next to the window on the second floor. Dimly lit interior and perfect for conversation. When I see wine flights, I take it. Ordered the "Expresion de Tintos..." ($10.000pesos) - a flight of strong reds from the area with varying flavors. Thankfully we got free bread to start, which allowed some soaking time before receiving our main course. The main meal was the Salmon Cancato ($10.700pesos); a baked filet of salmon with cheese, tomato, and sausage on top. Tasted similar to a casserole with the broth on the bottom allowing for no dryness in the meat. A free side is accompanied with the dish, so ordered the Wheatberry & Mushroom risotto - sauteed well and added a different texture to the salmon. Service here started off well - later on however, they changed waiters and it took a while to get a dessert menu and the bill. If a little overwhelmed by the options in this plaza, this is the best bet from what we've seen.

Awesome restaurant in Patio Bellavista! We came here for lunch after wandering around Bellavista. The server spoke English pretty well and recommended me a really good carmenere wine. We ordered razor clams, shrimp pil pil, cognac chicken w/ seafood polenta and a beef dish (that I cann't remember either the English or Spanish name of) w/ mushroom risotto. The razor clams were a little bit of a disappointment. It came in 2 flavors - pesto and parmesan. The pesto flavor was very overwhelming, so I preferred the parmesan ones but not by much. The clams honestly didn't taste the freshest. However, the shrimp pil pil was very good so I would definitely recommend that as an appetizer over the razor clams. The sauce that the shrimp came in was the bombbb and full of garlic (I'm a garlic lover). The cognac chicken was delicious. The chicken was tender and the broth tasted like a saltier/stronger version of a chicken soup. I would not recommend that you drink the broth by itself because it's pretty intense, but it goes great with the chicken. The seafood polenta that we ordered to accompany the chicken dish was also very flavorful. The beef dish was average. The broth that it came in was way too salty, but the beef chunks itself were not bad. I honestly thought the mushroom risotto that I got as a side dish was better than the dish itself.

We came here two days in a row for some wine, tapas, and "vacation" fries! The vibes of this restaurant were amazing. It has two floors including awesome interiors with a floor to ceiling wine wall and outdoor patio on both floors overlooking the popular Bella Vista arts district. This place, as well as all the patio restaurant and shops in this district are great for people watching, drinking and wondering around! They have a pretty extensive selection of wines, flights and other alcohol besides wine. The food menu looked fabulous if we hadn't JUST eaten at Bocanariz. I would definitely come back here. I am updating my review because we came back the next day and had good. We had te tartar, papas fritas and the BEST beef, shitaki/cheese empanadas I've EVER had. This was a fabulous place to day drink/snack and people watch. We had Juliana as our waitress and she was amazing! I 100% recommend going here in Barrio BellaVista.

Excellent wine selection. Try a flight to select the right wine. Mine was the Chilean Red Flight. Tapas are great, as is the main dishes. Outdoor seating is wonderful and service great.

Barrica Barrica Barrica! We came to Chile for wine tasting at vineyards but who knew that you could even do them at restaurants as well! We stopped here just for lunch and ended up do a full tasting! There were a few wines I wasn't particularly fond of but that happens when you do tastings. My favorite was a Pinot Grigio, a Cabernet Sauvignon, and a Rose. The Rose was high on my list because it's spring back home. Overall it was a great restaurant. We just stopped for calamari and fries and drank wine! We even forgot the pics of the food

Vegan Corn Pie

Chilean specialties and an impressive selection of wine, in an unpretentious yet elegant ambiance. Located within a shopping center, Barrica occupies two floors and has indoor and outdoor seating on both levels. The menu is varied, with plenty of vegetarian and vegan options. We sat on the outdoor patio on the second floor and were forced to endure some really horrible live music for about 30 minutes (two ladies doing acoustic covers of 90's hits), but after they left, the ambiance was pleasant. Every day since arriving in Chile, I have enviously watched people enjoying Corn Pies, a traditional dish of baked corn pudding, reminiscent of shepherds pie. They are traditionally made with beef, so I was thrilled to find a fully vegan version here made with mushroom and quinoa. It was everything I hoped for and more-sweet, savory, salty and creamy. Every bite was an explosion of flavor and a truly special treat. My boyfriend and I shared a wine flight, which is a good option if you want to try a variety of Chilean wines without drinking a lot. I also got a side salad, which was huge and very fresh, with plenty of avocado. My boyfriend got ceviche and said it was just okay. Service was fast and friendly. Definitely a solid choice for a casual meal in Santiago.

Shrimp in Pil Pil sauce
Diana R.

Loved this casual, hip restaurant in Bellavista Patio. I made a meal of three appetizers, all of them first/rate. Oysters were cold and fresh, with a spicy cucumber vinaigrette. Shrimp Pil Pil, one of my new favorite Chilean dishes, was spicy, with sauce begging for bread dipping -- sort of like Soanish escargot. Still hungry, I ordered grilled octopus, which could have been more tender but was nevertheless delicious in a mild green sauce. They have an enormous wine list, with over 30 offerings by the glass. I had Sauvignon Gris with the oysters and shrimp -- perfect -- and Gewurtztraminer with the octopus, also a winner. Since it was my last night in Santiago I sprang for dessert-- dark chocolate semifreddo, rich and delicioso.

This place is very much like Bocanariz - my favorite restaurant in Santiago. It is a wine bar with an extensive wine collection and helpful English speaking waiters to explain things to you and help with food pairing suggestions. We ordered a bottle of cab, and they seasoned the decanter, and used a decanter instead of just leaving the bottle, as other restaurants often do. We ordered an appetizer set with empanadas (amazing. three types: one with an almost goat-y tasting gouda, one with a soft brie-type of cheese with nuts, one with mixed veggies. Each comes with a special sauce. The first one was paired with a caramelized onion sauce. absolutely perfect) and montaditos (bites of heaven, amazing tapas). We also ordered the seafood pasta and the lamp lasagna with the mushroom risotto as a side. All of them were just OK to good. The seafood pasta could have more flavor, the lasagna was a bit dry and the cheese was overwhelming, and the risotto was also dry and not creamy. But the appetizer was so good that I didn't even mind.

Tuna Tartare

Service, food, wine, atmosphere, was all on point. Probably the best service we've had in Santiago. Definitely coming back for more! The tuna tartare and chicken breast were done to perfection!

No longer exists. What more needs to be said? The requirement for 85 characters is stupid.

Beautiful restaurant in Santiago, the service was top notch. The empeñadas and osso buco were amazing! A great end to our trip.

Les Dix Vins - Charcuterie y vino

As the scorching summer sun sets over Santiago, most local dwellers start to search for a patio and…read morewell, a place to get some beverages that can soothe the long day and cool down the body. After a recommendation from Camilo at the Ritz, decided to pay a visit here. The spot is actually owned by one of the former employees from the Ritz and it's been fortunate to meet the owner here. Aside from the wonderful patio with mountain views , what I loved here is the level of knowledge in the staff. Our waiter not only knew the wines, but also had a story for each of the cheeses served. It was such a neat conversation. They do have a selection of wines by glass, so for tasting purposes, this is a good spot to come. I do wish there were more wines by the glass to try, particularly on the higher end of Chilean and Argentinian wines. Bottles are much more plentiful of course. All around, a perfect spot to spend an evening.

Where to even begin with Dix Vins...it is such a gem for so many reasons. Pre-pandemic, every day…read morewas something fun--oysters and bubbly, cheese tastings, live music. Nowadays, we're not so lucky, but the service, wines, and cheese are still amazing (fingers crossed all those regular things return soon!). The great somms here have worked all over the world, from France to Napa Valley. They speak every language and they are actually nice people, not snobby at all. (They might jokingly roll their eyes at you if you go from a big bold cab to a pinot noir, though!) Admittedly, I have only come for cheese, charcuterie plates, or dinner--never lunch, but I've heard good things. The cheese plates are terrific and always different (it's like the TJ Maxx of cheese boards!). The apps are also nice. There's not a huge selection for dinner plates (duck, beef, or chicken are pretty much it), but the chef is consistent. If you've lived in Chile longer than a year and still love Chilean wine but want to mix it up now and then with nice French wines, THIS is the spot for you. After spending a wonderful weekend trip in Medoc running the famed marathon, I'm now a huge fan (who isn't?) and occasionally want to enjoy those European flavors. In addition to the incredible French-wine selection, LDV also carries some of the best Chilean wines, including those from Vik vineyard. But the real reason I keep coming back is that delicious French cheese! Do you know there are cheese smugglers in Canada? Yeah, people risking their lives and freedom to smuggle in every kind of expensive French cheese imaginable. Well, good news cheese lovers of Chile, you need not risk jail time here. Truthfully, there is not a bad cheese behind the counter, and more often than not, they are on sale. What's not to love? You just walk in, straight back to the counter and ask for your favorite cheese in whatever size you like. They'll wrap it carefully and with a smile. Oh, and did I mention they deliver? Same day! Before 2020, the hubs and I came to LDV one afternoon just as the sun was setting in front of our indoor window seat. It was so incredibly hot, it was like a greenhouse. My first thought was, They are cooking all this wine! Well, fast forward to 2021, and there are now wine crates in those windows and only outdoor seating (I can also confirm they are dog friendly!). I still am not brave enough to sample the wines closest to the window, but I'll admit, I've never had a bad wine here. One thing I will note: On more than one occasion, my foreign credit card has not worked immediately (works fine with the online shop). Not sure if it's a wifi or machine issue or what, but I've come to expect hiccups when paying my bill. A minor inconvenience for great service and a happy belly.
