Ambrosia is a must stop if you are in Santiago and looking for creative dishes and Michelin-quality food with a laid-back vibe and a very nice, engaging and young staff. They change their menu according to the products in season and although it's french cuisine, you will always find a chilean touch to it. I order the truffle paste. It was out of this world. They have one type of fish a day. They purchase a couple of large ones and they make the ceviche and serve the mains from the same big fish. I had the lomo vetado, and it was mediocre at best with minimal flavor. On the side, they included sweet potatoes...... In conclusion, not much imagination or festival of flavors. My wife had the pasta, and this dish deserves three stars. The best thing going for this restaurant is the rather pleasant ambiance. Let me be fair. The service was good. read more

One of the best meals I've had in a long time. We went here on a Friday evening and sat at the bar. We ordered soup (sweet potato), steak, and a pasta dish (with mushrooms). Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. We got to watch the chefs prepare all of the food. The way they plate is a work of art. Reading a NY Times article that put Ambrosia in the same league as Boraga, we had high expectations coming in. Unfortunately, our dining experience was not exceptional. The food/drinks were only average. In terms of presentation, we were perplexed to find whole grain mustard on nearly every dish?!? We had the smoked salmon, the foie gras and fillet appetizer. All of them too saucy for our liking. For our main dishes, we ordered the waygu beef (which was way over cooked - shame for such a nice cut of meat) and the "seasonal" summer duck (which was a misnomer since it was incredibly heavy). As for the pre-dinner drink cocktails, we ordered a mojito and a caipirinha. They were strong on the liquor, but way too sugary. Might be good to try if you're in the area, but don't go out of your way to check it out. read more

Everything was excellent from the greeting to the apps to the mains. We were greeted at the door by the chef's father who has much to be proud of as one of his daughters is the head chef and the other is the sommelier. The restaurant is on a residential street in a high end neighbourhood in a converted house. There are three rooms including a main dining room where we were seated, a bistro style area and a private dining room. The appetisers are for sharing and three of us were happy with the quality and quantity of the two we ordered. My wife had a pasta with duck ragu which she loved and my son and I had a pork tenderloin on a bed of black rice which was so tender it was magic. read more
