We absolutely love this place. We go couple times a month. I always get the same thing, the carne asada wet burrito add rice. There is something magical about that sauce. I could drink a whole bottle of it. The servers are the best! They are super sweet and quick! Shockingly quick. I'm drooling thinking about a burrito right now. Gonna go tomorrow! read more

I don't even know where to start. I've been going to this place since it opened its doors. I would ride my bike to eat there. It seems catastrophic anytime I get something to go from there. I don't live in the area but I like to stop and get food from there. I ordered a chicken burrito no rice beans only, in a container with no tortilla. Obviously I can't eat rice or tortillas because they turn into sugar, and I have to control my blood sugar. Get home, open the container, and it's rice with a little bit of chicken. Did not live up to it's "hype". We've lived in San Dimas for over 20 years and this restaurant is always getting rave reviews and recommendations on a local Facebook page. I was in the mood for Mexican but didn't want to drive all the way to Monrovia for my favorite - Max's. Anyway, La Villa Kitchen is small but not every table was full. Maybe 2/3 full when we arrived around 6pm. There were only two servers working and the main gal, was largely ignoring us. We waited around 5 minutes to be seated (after being told twice by the main server "we'll be right with you) as she walked past us to refill waters/lemonades at a table at the very front of the restaurant. Oh, she did say that they had to clean off a table before they could seat us but no one asked if we wanted a booth or a table and I think she just assumed we wanted a booth because those did need bussing - we wanted a table. Another 10 minutes before we were given menus. In the meantime, same server walks back to the front table with more water for those customers. SO, I quickly figured out that this is a "locals" favorite and that's who the servers are catering to - I get it, they want the big tips and the loyals expect good service and looks like they get it. Anyway, we finally got the other server to take our orders and she was VERY nice. I didn't catch her name but she's a KC Chiefs fan. There were 3 of us; my husband ordered a carnitas burrito, our son ordered a chicken quesadilla and I ordered one chicken enchilada and a side of rice. Their chips and salsa were actually very good! We didn't have to wait long for our food but mine was disappointing. It was warm but not hot. Rice was very dry and the enchilada itself - just very mediocre. The red sauce was just not authentic. The presentation was like a cafeteria plate - no garnish; lettuce or tomatoes like in better mexican restaurants. I found that odd. My husband enjoyed his burrito and it's pretty hard to mess up a quesadilla. They did just slop the sour cream on top of the quesadilla. Seriously, NO presentation of any of these dishes but, again, it is clearly a locals favorite and I'm sure those are the people always giving them great reviews. It's a small family owned business that does well because of their loyal customers but I really don't see where they could get any new loyal ones because of the things I mentioned. Needless to say, I continue to look for a decent mexican restaurant that's closer than Monrovia. read more

I ordered the taquito lunch, big disappointment, the taquitos were very small, they were long but had very little meat, I added cheese if you could find it and there was about a tablespoon of guacamole. I love this restaurant, me and my wife have been coming here for a few months now. Today I had huevos rancheros and a chicken burrito it was a magnificent meal. The salsa is fabulous too, and they are super friendly there. I will be moving to San Dimas soon, and I'll be coming here more often. I have been eating here since 1982 when it first opened. It is a Via Verde institution. Coco and Liz have been here since their parents bought the place around 1986? It's a place where you always run into people you know. Its permanence is comforting. The rest of the shopping center is now a ghost town due to the landlord charging sky high rents. :( Everything is very good and priced very fair for the quality of the food. I believe their dad was a meat broker so it was and is top shelf. Everybody gets their chips and salsa when they have parties at home so you know they are incredible. All the basics are there and executed perfectly. Fun fact: one of the first places that served cherry Coke in the 80's. read more

The decor was fantastic, we could eat inside but picked up food to go. Small place a out 10 tables great decor on the walls. Portions were decent and the prices were a very good value. The food wasnt bad but it lacked any heat at all. Its was what I call "white" Mexican food. Had no heat and little flavor. Its good for the customer base they serve in Via Verde. I'm a picky about Mexican restaurants, but this place never fails to hit the spot!! We have tried the wet shredded beef burrito, bean and cheese burrito, and enchiladas. All of our food has come out quick, hot, and yummy! The michelada was really good too. The service is exceptional, the waitresses are always friendly, and attentive. We ordered take out from La Villa Kitchen for the first time on Friday, August 6th. We were not disappointed in the food and we will return. My family ordered the 4 taquitos combo plate (chicken), carne asada dinner, carnitas dinner, chicken verde enchiladas, and chips. We ended up getting two carne asada dinners instead of the carnita and carne asada dinners we ordered. The taquitos were crunchy as you expect for taquitos. The chicken verde enchiladas would be ordered again. The carne asada was good but not as good as we have had at other restaurants. Why not five stars? The mix up with the order. The dinner portions could include a larger portion of beans. The pick up time for order took a little longer than expected. They did seem overwhelmed because there was a car show in the parking lot that night. Does not have margaritas with tequila - no full bar. Not a leisure dinner type place. The food here is INSANE! It's so good. They make their own tortilla chips and they chicken and beef flautas are out of this world good. This little family owned restaurant has been in Via Verde for over 30 years and it's no wonder they are still going strong with food this good. Oh! And their mole is off the hook! 3.5 stars Monday, January 7, 2019 (11:30 AM). Dropped off someone across the street to a Dr. appointment today and saw La Villa Kitchen in the Vons center. Never been here before so decided to try it for lunch. I'm fanatical when it comes to Mexican food and I like discovering small, off the beaten path, hole in the wall type restaurants that usually attract mostly locals. I liked the vibe of La Villa Kitchen. Nothing fancy, clean, simple, cozy little mexican food kitchen with very reasonable prices. Excellent parking (lots of it). Service was good and my server (Coco) was friendly and attentive. My food today wasn't exactly amazing cuisine bursting with authentic flavors of Mexico but it was very acceptable. Yes, it's americanized mexican food on the bland side (more like coffee shop style mexican food) but I enjoyed it for what it is. No can do with their house salsa though. Disappointing. It looked and tasted like store bought picante sauce (from a jar) and poured into a bowl typically used for chips. No thanks. I ordered a lunch special (chicken taco w/rice and beans) $7. Hard to beat that price for the quality of the food. It also came out quick. Four or five minutes after ordering, I had my food. Nice. They also have bottled beer available. I didn't have beer today but good to know they have it for future visits here. For seating, they have 11 comfy booths and 5 or 6 regular tables. They also accept all major credit cards including American Express. Great! My overall experience at La Villa Kitchen today was pleasant. Not being from this area, I wouldn't necessarily get in my car and drive with this place as my destination, but I would come back if hungry and already in this part of San Dimas. Staff there will leave their business phone off the hook after 630 to avoid taking more calls. 3 times prior they just said they didn't realize or where not aware u til you arrive to place order. Week ago the same thing, 630 Rory and Mory are clueless, contradict themselves and placed my phone order call on hold for 19 minutes then hung call up. Finally an hour after, so call owner claims they don't pick up calls after 8, even after clearly advising it was at 630. Obviously he has zero business knowledge and had excuse after excuse. Maybe the additional family owner members should reconsider the kids running this establishment. Regardless, not a worry any longer, no more business from my side moving forward. read more

I could give a place zero stars this would be the big winner. We ordered the steak picado, shrimp cocktail, enchiladas, and chicken soup. The horror we received, the most dry, rubbery, burnt barely edible food that can only be compared to the Sahara desert. The chicken soup was a glorified chicken in water with two random pieces of bell pepper? When we politely informed the waitress about our food she just said sorry and didn't come back or say anything. I then spoke to her a second time and she was then rude and ignored us after our conversation. The "food" made my cousin physically ill. Love coming here for a quick lunch. Staff is friendly, food is good. I'm usually in and out of restaurant just picking up.

When you walk in there is a sign to seat yourself so we did just that. Within a few minutes a waitress arrived with chips and salsa. Chips were tiny scraps, looked the the last of the chips at the bottom of a bag that someone steps on before they were served. I threw them in the salsa and had to use a spoon to eat them, the next chips were bigger. We ordered and food was at our table within 10 minutes. I ordered the lunch special 1 chicken flauta beans and rice and my husband got one beef taco, chili rellano beans and rice. My flauta was AMAZING but my husband was less the impressed with his taco and chili rellano and said he would not go out of his way to eat there again. read more

La villa Kitchen by far San Dimas'slittle Gem. It sets humbly in the Via Verde shopping Plaza and if your not careful you will miss it. It is hard to find good authentic Mexican food in the area this place takes Me back to my grandma's kitchen as a child. The quaint 15 table restaurant care about is inviting and warm it's beautifully decorated and soft music please do that song added to the perfect ambience. The chips and salsa are by far the best I have ever had I ordered ceviche as a starter and it was made to order very fresh delicious. For my entree I ordered the shrimp mojo shrimp and garlic sauce it comes with salad and tortillas and I'm by the time I was done with my margarita I had to take most of it home. This place is a beautiful place you want to pick every time somebody asks you where you want to go to eat The service was wonderful I went during lunch time at two girls who look like twins were the waitresses in the restaurant and they're so kind and polite and getting excellent service I went back to dinner time then wouldn't you know it you have another pair of sisters there at night time and they were just as p polite and kind This place has my vote try it you won't be disappointed. After waiting over an hour for a to go order, they lost the order. Then when we were given our order it was missing one of the meals, and the meal we did receive was incorrect.
