The staff were very bad at communicating, gave me glow-in-the-dark nail polish ( I had selected a nude color, NOT glow-in-the-dark) and when they took it off a few weeks later they completely, destroyed my nails. My boyfriend and I used to be regulars at this nail salon before he was stationed out of the state in the military. We just moved back to the area two weeks ago and wanted to come back for pedicures like we used to... Unfortunately I will never be taking my business here again. I requested a deluxe spa pedicure ($38) with gel polish (additional $20). My boyfriend also asked for the deluxe spa pedicure ($38). I previously had gel on my toes from my last pedicure out of state. With moving, one of my toenails broke pretty bad. My service was from a gentlemen. He barely let the acetone soak my gel polish off and instead used a sanding bit with the e-file (sure- ok) but my issue was he was taking that same sanding bit over my cuticles and took some gashes out of my skin. He put some sort of cuticle gel on and it instantly started to burn. I very promptly asked him if he could please wipe it off and that it was burning. He didn't seem to understand me. A woman from across the salon came over to ask what was happening (still with my cuticles feeling like they were on fire) I explained whatever was just applied is burning and I'd like it off. I just wanted a towel to use. They talked back and forth before telling me to put my foot in the tub. I then let them both know I did not want gel anymore and just regular polish. They asked if I was sure and I said yes. I really tried being pleasant about it and felt bad to "make a scene" but it was extremely painful. A different girl painted my toes and she did a good job- however, whatever nail color or possibly top coat she used was garbage. I waited 5 minutes in the salon to allow them to dry a bit then left my feet in the pedicure flip flops for the drive back to Sycamore (about 25 mins) and it slid off like Vaseline. All in all, I'm extremely disappointed. Not only in the quality but the fact I wasn't offered some sort of financial compensation ($ off, certificate for another time, something??) and as much as I'd like to go somewhere else, my cuticles are very sore with even hot water so I need to let them heal. read more

Unfortunately due to language barrier I ended up paying $50 for a basic $30 pedicure. I was asked if I wanted what I thought was quick drying. I paid but there was no charge listed on the receipt or card terminal. I tipped 20% on $30. Got home & saw in my bank account I was charged $50. Pleasantly surprised...I'm new to the area so have been trying places around. This one is a tad further for me than the others but it wins. The prices are comparable but the work they put into my feet...trimming, filing, sloughing, and the very nice un-rushed foot massage was the best. The shape and polish was very clean. Manicure got the exact sharp I always ask for but never seem to get. Staff very friendly and professional. I'll def be back here. My no-chip has lasted 2.5 wks so far, but it's not looking great. They went wider with the undercoat, so I have a clear polish separating from the edges of the color and raising away from my nail... Shame because the tips haven't cracked at all. Also, color change polish was not as shown on the bottle, which they acknowledged, but did not offer to discount or redo. My no chip lasted me a good 3 weeks and they worked wonders on my overgrown cuticles! Only cash is accepted for tips. Free wifi with password. Ownership has changed within last few weeks and it is awful. I showed up and no one I knew was there but I got my nails done anyway because I needed them done/ I wish I hadn't. Glue pre-coat for no-chip manicures is no longer done. The manicurist cut my cuticle so much that it began bleeding and whatever she did to trim them caused the skin to peel off in sheets on six of my fingers. The polish chipping and cracking almost immediately. There are not as many polish choices either.'Would not go back again. I'm so sad because I used to love La Venice. read more

I came in yesterday to get my nails done for the first time. Showed the picture, got different results. I know they can't match perfectly, but it really wasn't what I wanted, I was just excited to be there. I called the next morning asking to come back in because I was growing more unhappy with the color and 15/20 gems fell off already. I showed them an easier picture. They promised they could do that. Again, it was not close to what I wanted. I stopped the tech halfway through to explain that this isn't what I asked for and I would rather not finish. I felt so guilty I was tearing up. By her body language I could tell she was fed up with me while she removed the powder. She told me to wash my hands and leave. I asked if there was any way I could get my money back. The tech raised her voice at me and told me I was a waste of everyone's time and continued to yell at me in front of other customers until I ran out crying. Love going here for pedicures! The staff is friendly and fun to chat with. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that they are a bit pricey for certain services, and when they are busy they don't really tell you how long the wait will be. But again, love the pedicures because they take their time and never rush through the package you are paying for. read more

if there was an option for 0 stars i would have rated this nail salon 0 stars. i walked in this salon as a walk in, i requested a full set /gel and eyebrow wax. worst t nail salon i have ever gone too. first reason: the manager was very rude, mean, and had no respect for any paying customer. she made me wait for 25 mins and kept insisting she was almost done. the only reason i stayed was because i had called/ and went to other nail salons near the area and there were no open spots. so i stayed since i was in a time crunch. i proceeded to allow her to do my nails when she clearly knew she was in the middle of doing another customers pedicure. i was desperate and overlooked it. the entire time she did my nails it felt like she was rushing and had a strong nasty atttidue, which made me uncomfortable... second reason: when i reminded her about my eyebrows she was bothered and fucked up my eyebrows. she just waxed them but didnt cleaned them up afterwards. as i looked in the mirror i noticed a huge chunk of my eyebrows was missing . she then left the room to the register to charge me???? i told her i hated my eyebrows and that she fucked them up. then she faked smile and had the audacity to tell me she fixed them for me ???????? i told her no she ruined my eyebrows and she did and awful job. she did not once admit she ruined them or apologized and still wanted to charge me for them. i never seen someone so money hungry until i crossed paths with her... third reason: the nails only lasted less then 2 weeks before falling off/breaking. to top it off her nail prices were ridicously expensive. i could have gotten the full set w/gel for 45$ elsewhere, but she overcharges. they costed me 61$. !!!!! worst nail salon and experience i have ever encountered!!!!!!!! please dont waste your time or money here!!!! im warning you guys!! read more

I came to get dip nails and the color I chose looked extremely different on my nails, with dip it's hard to tell what it will look like until it's completely on with the final coat. I was so disappointed, for $45 too. I then came in 2 days later after being told they could change the color for free, was greeted by a woman who was wanting to charge me $30 to change the color?! My two daughters and I scheduled an appointment for 3 pedicures @ 11:30 am on a Saturday. We were on a little bit of a tight schedule so we made sure we had the time slot that we needed. They called all three of us back to the pedicure chairs. Were they immediately started pedicures on my TWO daughters. I kept waiting for someone to come over and start my pedicure and they didn't for 40 minutes. My two daughters were finished with their pedicure when they started mine as a matter of fact, the girl that was doing my daughters pedicure when she finished her came over to start doing mine. I understand. Everybody runs a little bit late but they knew they did not have enough employees there to do the three of us at the same time. When I said something about all of this to the owner they said they were busy due to the holiday weekend and walked away. Ok, then tell us upfront that it's an issue. Very nice place, decor is above average. Everything seems clean. Even better is that the staff is very nice. Honestly the BEST nail salon I have ever been to. It sort of looks like a hole in the wall from the outside, but on the inside, the decor is lovely, all aspects are clean, and the music is relaxing. The service is amazing - best I've gotten in a long time. I couldn't decide between two shades of pastel pink so the girl helping me painted them both on her nails so I could have a better visual. She then asked if I wanted the same shade for shellac mani/ pedi, and found the right shade for me. The pedicure was amazing - I got the classic pedi. The massage was WOW, so great. Don't think I've gotten a pedicure massages that long or relaxing in ages, if ever. Manicure was great too. Kasie did it and she was awesome. About a week ago i went in for a dip and tip. The nails were okay, but not up to par for how much i paid. Normally dip and tip is 40-50 anywhere else, but here was 60! Not only was i overcharged, my nail tech scolded me for not having cash to tip her in. After a week, my nails turned a brownish yellow and started chipping. Since it had only been a week, i found this unacceptable. I went back in to get the nails taken off, and i was charged 10$ plus tip for it. At any other nail place there is no charge for take offs. This salon is not only overpriced, but the overall quality is poor. There are many excellent nails places in Geneva, and this is sadly not up to standards. I moved to this area from downtown and I was in desperate need for an exceptional replacement and I am so glad that I found this place! I have been coming to this salon since April and I LOVE Lynn and Kaly. I get the gel (no-chip) mani and deluxe spa pedicure. Lynn takes her time because she wants to make sure that you are completely satisfied before you leave and I always leave with a smile on my face; I just love her and how personable she is! I think Kaly is either the owner or manager and she is just lovely. I love her high pitched voice because it's so sweet and she is really a very nice lady. I had gone to another salon because they carried CND Salmon Rush. Kaly complimented me on my color and when I told her that I had gone to another salon because they had that specific color, Kaly offered to get it so that I do not have to look no further than their salon. That, ladies and gentlemen is customer service! I cannot speak for any of the other nail techs in the salon as I only prefer to use Lynn who has also been mentioned in other Yelp reviews. read more

Please don't give your money to someone who would yell at a cancer patient to "GET OUT!" and have her leave in tears. There are lots of other people who deserve your money. La Venice does not. In July, I got a regular manicure and deluxe pedicure for $40. The technician was fine, but the polish didn't dry. I sat under their lamp for 40 minutes, but my nails were smudged by the time I drove home. The polish still wasn't dry TWO HOURS later. I returned, and the guy wrote "credit" on my receipt since I didn't have time that day for a re-do. I asked him to sign his name, but he assured I wouldn't need it.... Today, I returned with the receipt. A hot stone pedicure is $40, so I thought that would be even. Upon presenting the credit, though, the man at the service desk started questioning me suspiciously why I had this and who gave it to me, why it took so long, etc. He then said he needed to call someone, so I stood there patiently while he called two different people. When he was done, he said that he would only polish my nails since "we did the cuticles before. Just the polish was no good. We'll only do the polish." I explained I can do that myself, but I'm recovering from surgery and was just interested in the pampering. He rudely repeated that since they did massage and cuticles in July, they were only replacing the polish. When I explained I AM RECOVERING FROM CANCER SURGERY, for Christ's sake, and I just wanted to honor the $40 value...HE YELLED AT ME to "GET OUT!" I'm neither a crook or a liar, and I have never heard of any business owner treating anyone so rudely. It was rude before I shared my personal life with him--but the way he treated me after is inexcusable. I left embarrassed and in tears. There are many places to get your nails done in Geneva. I went in to La Venice and I got a no-chip done and everything was fine until I went to pay. I gave the lady my discover card and she told me that they do not take discover, which is fine and I paid with my visa but when I walked outside, their window showed all the cards they take and discover was on the list. If you do not take discover I would recommend you to take it off the window. read more

Hands down best nail salon I've been to! I've recently moved back to the Chicago area after spending a decade in South Florida so I am definitely used to nice places. First off, they have a fantastic color selection- mostly full of the standards, your OPI, Essie and China Glaze but then also as a pleasant surprise they had some Orly and a few other less common professional brands. I'd say in all they had well over 200 colors to choose from. My sister and I treated my mother to pedicures this past weekend and they also both agree its the best place they've ever been to. While we were waiting, we were asked if we wanted anything to drink (seems like nail salons offer drinks less and less these days even water). Once we sat down, there was a full menu of specialty pedicures to chose from- from standard to hot stone with paraffin. In addition, they gave THE BEST foot massages EVER. Don't you just hate when you get cheated on the massage? Well, not here! Phat did my pedicure and I would highly recommend him to anyone who loves a deep foot massage. Bottom line- if you are looking for a new place, try this place out. I live in Winfield and plan on making the trip out here for my nails because it was that worth it! read more

Today, I realized that it's been three full weeks since I had my nails done at La Venice and there is not one single chip. I have been mountain biking, I've built a set for a musical, I've showered every day and I am actually worried that it will never come off. La Venice, what is the secret to your freak manicures?
