The food is delicious. It has really good flavor.. highly recommend the bacon breakfast burrito. Also the torta Cubana.. you get what you pay for an it's worth every it. I would say over all the prices are really reasonable. The Champurrado has a really good flavor, I just wish it was a little warmer.. The service was wonderful, we were treated and sat immediately.. when we got here there wasn't that many people but slowly it started to get busy still the ambiance was great.. highly recommend this place.. we will be back

Definitely recommend this authentic Mexican/ Oaxacan restaurant! This was our first time and we will definitely be returning.

Really disappointing experience. I ordered a dish that included nopales, which wasn't mentioned in the description. I politely let the staff know I didn't like it and that I wouldn't have ordered it if I had known--but I was completely ignored. The girl at the front even rolled her eyes at me, which was honestly shocking. Poor communication and even worse customer service. Definitely won't be coming back.

We ordered ahead for pickup and got the cactus and eggs torta with everything, and the torta cubana with everything. Cactus and eggs torta: It was a bit spicy from the jalapenos. It was creamy and mild overall in flavor. I do wish it was a little more strongly flavored (not just by the jalapenos) but otherwise it was decent. Torta cubana: It was also a bit spicy from jalapeno, and was definitely quite a bit saltier than the cactus and eggs one, probably because of the meat. Overall, both were good and I appreciate the amount of options on the menu.

La Tortuga is a local favorite serving Oaxacan style food. They also have some dessert items to go also. I loved the Oaxaca Flauta Plate. My friend got the beef flautas and I got the chicken flautas. Nice large portion with black bean sauce, rice and salad. Service is excellent. We also ordered 2 shrimp tacos that had grilled peppers. Everything tasted great.

Stopping by Seaside for our favorite El Molcajete Oaxaqueno dish! It is still the best although the bean gravy taste has changed slightly. I like the new version but the old version is definitely better!

Just almost perfect .. If you don't read any more, I highly recommend and we will certainly return. If you read a little more, the 1 star drop is the fact my lunch came way after my wife's of which I asked her to start and she was 3/4 way through by the time mine arrived. .......ok... I had La Tortuga on the bucket list along with a couple more Mexicans in the Seaside area. I suggested to my wife we should go out for lunch and try La Tortuga. Parking is easy, restaurant is canteen style with plenty of seating. Menu was a little overwhelming at first glance as it's split between two walls with some being text and some being pictures... the staff were super helpful and very accommodating leading us to a shrimp ceviche style dish and a chorizo sandwich. My wife's came out first (Ceviche) which is totally understandable, it tasted fresh and put a smile on her face which is all I could really ask for. My sandwich arrived a little later which was almost the size of a small planet .. a total monster ... It was really interesting, the bread was so light it was hard to discern it was actually bread with a lovely background kick from the Chorizo. I managed to get half way through before throwing in the towel and taking the 2nd half to-go. We both washed the food down with Horchata which again was on point. All in all it was a great suggestion, it might not make it to the top of my list but judging by how packed it got I suspect a couple more visits and different options and I might very well change my mind. Thank you La Tortuga... great job and you were all so so nice we want to come back !

Food is great, staff super friendly. A must-go when we are in Monterey. We order Comalito almost every time. What a treat! Their bakery is great too!

This place is so authentic. Out of all the places me and my girlfriend ate out here, this place is the best. The food has so much flavor and the dishes they offer are as real as it gets. Please do yourself a favor and give it a try. Will come back if I'm ever in town. The ladies running this place are so nice and sweet.

The service was really quick and they are definitely very generous with their portions. The inside of the restaurant is colorful and has plenty of seating options if you choose to dine-in. We got the Torta Asada and Torta Cubana. The Torta Cubana was HUGE and we only managed to eat half of one. The bread used for the tortas was soft and perfectly crunchy on the outside. The only downside was that the meat used for the asada or milanesa was a bit tough to bite through so you kind of had to tug away from it to rip it off, but the flavor and everything else was amazing. I personally wouldn't get the Cubana again but more due to its sheer size.

Great service and great food. This review is a continuation of an old review only a modern menu update. My new go-to is Ceviche de Camaron. I love it all tho. Burritos are amazingly fresh. Tortas packed to the brim. Tlayudas beyond. Amazing mole. Great beans and rice. I'll be exploring the menu more and more in the future so expect more pics and reviews. Place is A+. I love Oaxaca Mexican food!!!

This place does breakfast, and the American side of the menu which I got to taste, was executed well. I'd go back for that. For those curious about the Filipino aspect, I wouldn't have high expectations. Their lumpia wasn't super special. Compared to the thousands of lumpia I've had in the US and across the world, they were just OK. For the price they were charging per piece, I wasn't the biggest fan. They didnt blow me away in flavor. They were also a bit burnt/ over fried for my liking. I also ordered the pork belly fried rice. Definitely Filipino inspired, with the adobo inspired sauce. Both the pork itself and the sauce were sweeter than I expected. The fried rice as well was disappointing. It was neither Filipino style for breakfast (sinangag) or a typical Chinese fried rice. It was an Americanized heavy-on-the-butter style. When it comes to viewing with a Filipino lens, it was a bit boring. I dont mind twists on Filipino food. There's plenty of it and plenty I've enjoyed, including on my numerous trips to the motherland. Unfortunately, the ones here were a bit underwhelming. I'd go back here for the amazing staff and limiting myself to the American traditional breakfast. For those hoping for a Filipino breakfast that shares more authentic flavors, I'd keep very low expectations.

First walking in the room, we noticed a weird smell and the bathroom smelled like somebody had just used it . The carpet in the bedroom is old and dirty looking. The bathroom shower and bathroom share one combined floor so when you use the shower, the entire floor gets soaked. I had to use up all the towels to soak up the water on the floor so we didn't slip and fall. When you flush the toilet it sounds like a hurricane. If you plan on using the bathroom during the night, be prepared to wake up everyone. You can also hear the toilet flushing in any room near yours. Also, there's no sink countertop, it's a stand alone sink so there's no place to put your stuff and get ready. You can hear the people in the next room like they are sitting in your room. The door to get into the building did not latch close on its own so anyone could walk into the building. Also when you check in, they charge an additional $20 parking fee, a $35 recreational fee and a refundable $50 fee. This was on top of the $369 cost of the room. I almost forgot I was awakened in the middle of the night to several people in the hallway, saying there was somebody running down our hallway and had just went up the stairs. This was probably because the building doors didn't latch like I mentioned above. For this price, I suggest you shop around and a smaller, cleaner, quieter, and newer hotel. This was a big disappointment for a Hyatt hotel, and not up to their standards.

We were seated right away without reservations. The place looks smaller than it is - they have a bunch of outdoor seating. It is a typical diner style establishment. And I'm not sure how accessible it is unless you know exactly where to park - there's a lot of stairs around. But it is a really cute location with lots of nice flowers and landscaping around. I can't remember our servers name - but he was really wonderful & had a great attitude. I ended up going with a custom skillet & my partner chose the biscuits & gravy and brisket chili. My custom skillet was super yummy & I was pleasantly surprised they had vegetarian sausage! It was well seasoned & the mushrooms were thinly sliced & cooked to perfection. I actually really enjoyed this meal. My partner really enjoyed his biscuits & gravy and thought it was one of the best ones he's ever had. He also was starstruck over the brisket chili, so I would definitely say to get a cup of that if that sounds like your thing. I would definitely stop back here on my next visit to Monterey/Carmel. It was quite busy outside, but we found a nice spot in the shade. Once we started to order, a lot of the people started to leave and there was only a couple other parties outside. For once I was hungry AND actually able to order while thinking about portion sizes. Normally my eyes are more hungry than my stomach! I had one banana walnut pancake and still couldn't finish it. My partner ordered the breakfast skillet with chorizo, mushrooms, and avocado. Both were exceptionally delicious, and the skillet especially with their homemade bottled pepper sauce. It's available to purchase but they ran out when we were visiting. The pancake had bananas or walnuts in every bite, if not both. The maple syrup was also heated up so it made for a very pleasant experience. I'm normally a savory breakfast gal, but this called to me, and I'm so glad I went with it. And the skillet wasn't that spicy but packed tons of flavor. I could taste some smoke paprika, garlic powder, and a pleasant amount of salt and pepper. We enjoyed our time here, and since the business was slowing down, we were able to chat with our waiter and get some ideas for local spots to try. 10/10, we will be back again! :) Thank you so much!
