The restaurant is very clean, the staff was incredibly kind and welcoming, but most importantly the food was the best Mexican food I've ever had. It's authentic, and you can tell that it was made with love. I had an off-menu item, the chicken mole, and for those of you who don't know: mole (pronounced "mo-lay") is a traditional Mexican sauce made from a blend of spices, nuts, chiles, and chocolate. It's VERY difficult to make, and usually comes out either too sweet or too spicy- but not here. The mole was PERFECT this is a hallmark of a talented chef who loves what they do. Came back with the guys for weeknight dinner. Easy parking in their private lot, sat ourselves as directed, and were quickly greeted by our waitress. Chips & salsa were good. The salsa is mild in heat and has great flavor. We tried the queso this time which is mild (great for my Mom to be able to eat) but was very thin. Like we ate nearly two baskets of chips and still had queso in the bowl thin. I would prefer it to be thicker and next time will ask for pico to add some heat. My Mom loved her sour cream chicken enchiladas again. My husband loved his chicken fajitas and my Dad enjoyed his combo fajitas. This was my first time ordering bistec con papas anywhere and was highly recommended by our waitress. It was a lot of food and overall good. The steak was very thin (described as thin on menu) but a little on the dry side for my preference. The beans were room team again this visit but have good flavor. We went for the $1Taco Tuesday. I got 4 tacos de adobada, my husband got 2 de pastor and 2 de asada. Our waitress was very nice, but the food took FOREVER to get to us. We were a little disappointed by the wait time especially since they didn't seem very busy, and it was their daily special. At least we had chips and salsa to hold us over. Although the salsa was very bland with no spice at all. It did seem fresh though. Anyways when our food finally got to us, it was good, if a little greasy. And small. I ordered the cocktail shrimp and they were not as I remembered. They were incredibly small. I used to come when I was younger and remember them being way bigger than they were. After debating back and forth my boyfriend and I decided to go to this place. We read the reviews and TRUSTED them. The raving about the carne asada was extremely overrated. He got the Plato de Pastor and at best it was just carne asada with a different seasoning. I got the Plato de Carne Asada. The meat seemed to have been only boiled in water and then cut into pieces. The rice that came with the plates was the most flavorful and that's not saying a lot. It came with peas and carrots which is really odd. The beans were a decent consistency and were not really fried. That is kind of a key point to refried beans. We were offered homemade corn tortillas which you would assume came with a plate of food in a Mexican restaurant. They came at an additional charge. The chips and salsa that came before our meal were pretty good. The salsa is not spicy but the chips had a pretty good flavor. I gave it 3 stars because the waitress was extremely nice. Classic Texican restaurant with a colossal menu. You could browse though it for hours. I always just think it's too much, when I menu has so many pages.. too many options. And when I asked if I could sub a tamale for one the three enchiladas on the dinner plate I was eyeing, it turned out to be an issue. I just had to say never mind and order an extra tamale on the side... kind of weird, but I guess when the menu is that huge they don't expect anyone to make special requests? It wasn't that special. Either way, we had an okay meal here. I really enjoyed the chips and salsa, and my fountain coca cola was ENORMOUS and delicious, which always makes me happy. I thought my enchiladas were a little greasy and the rice and beans typical, but my little lonely tamale was delicious - next time I'll just get those. And Adam really enjoyed the house made flour tortillas. When we arrived we were told we could sit anywhere, but a lot of the tables weren't clean. There was only like one other party of 2, so maybe a big crowd had just left? I don't know... but when the floors and tabletops around me are dirty, my appetite definitely dwindles. I'm giving this a 3 star because last time we were there Karina was amazing. She checked on us multiple times. Made sure our food was good, our drinks were filled. She cared. Today we went there and she wasn't our waitress and we were bummed but understood. But I regret never asking for her. We had an elder lady in a black shirt at the bar and was the worst service ever. She came to us to get our order/drink order and gave us our food that was it. (Only had 1 drink! That's it. Not an offer for another drink a water nothing!!!)I had to flag her down because our poppers were fridge cold. Not warm at all!!!! fridge cold. When I told her to touch it and fill it, she did and agreed how cold it was and she said she would get fresh ones. It took longer for those poppers to come back out than 2 meals and an appetizer to come out. All while we were sitting there with empty cups and her talking with employees and rolling silverware. When we weren't getting service to even get our drinks filled I was done. I got up and went to the register to cash out. She came and started giving excuses and tried to give me a meal for free which I gave her another $20 and said that's not what I complain about. I want good service when I go to a restaurant. She tried to explain why she didn't help us and said she didn't help us because the poppers were made again they were warm and not hot. (How did she know idk) so the kitchen making cold food is the reason she didn't refill our drinks. I told her even The beer on tap was hot. She said many people have complained about that. Soooooo why are you still serving it??????? As I paid for all of my food including the hot beer, cold poppers and bad service she tried to give me the poppers which I refused because I believe they where touched by her and probably just microwave to a serving temperature. All this being said and done ask for Karina. The food is usually good and Karina has amazing service skills. The poppers were a small portion on the complaint the service is just horrible with the elder lady in black shirt. Honestly ask for Karina and you will not be disappointed unless you get Modelo on tap or the combo which has the poppers. Tortilandia just may be it and it's close to home! Who am I kidding I would still try all 500. They are all starting to taste the same after awhile though, not Tortilandia! I love their Salsa! Their hibiscus drink is so good. I got the Plato de Barbacoa. Yum! The husband got the red snapper in a spicy red sauce. I'm not sure on the official name on the menu, but it was pretty damn good. I'd say the food is pretty solid here. Typical mexican/tex-mex fare with a few unique items, but mostly the classics. I had the plato de barbacoa and it was good; great barbacoa, standard rice and beans, and homemade flour tortillas. The tortillas were probably the tastiest thing I had. The drink and food menu are on the large side, so it was difficult to make a decision. Overall, the meal was enjoyable. I think it's a solid joint for when you're craving texican. read more

Little hole in the wall find in Fort Worth, suggested by friends who live there. Decor was simple and our party of five was the sum of the diners! Chips and salsa (aka hot sauce) were a good start. Chips were firm, crisp and crunchy. Salsa was not spicy, with a hint of cilantro. I added salt, but that's just me. Hubby started with a dozen oysters on the half shell, which were tasty and one inno time. He opted for the Caldo Mixto, which was a soup with fish, shrimp and octopus, served in this huge bowl with a side of rice. It was accompanied by two rather generous pieces of pan fried bread, similar to a really thick pita. Perfectly seasoned, with tons of seafood....relish, said Ross. My friend and I opted for the #9 dinner special, which was a hot sizzling skillet of Carne Asada, served on a bed of onions, peppers and tomatoes. A side of rice and a very generous salad with passable ranch rounded out the dinner. The price was a mere $7.95 and the only differences between the special and the regular dinner entree, which was ordered by my friend, were a side bowl of refrained beans, a scoop of guac on the salad and a slightly larger portion of meat. The entree is $12, so if you are mega-hungry, go for that - otherwise, the nightly dinner special is perfect. Our other friend ordered the Bistek con Papas, which came with rice, refrained beans, perfectly fried potato slices, a roasted jalapeño and very thinly sliced beef. It was all gone, so I am guessing it was as tasty as it looked. We ordered flour tortillas, for $1.50 ( not sure which menu item didn't include those) which were homemade, hot and fresh. Iced tea and coffee were $2.00, bottled beer (Dos XXX and Negra Modelo) were $4.50 each (not at happy hour) and hubby's top shelf margarita was $12. It was on the rocks, in a rather small looking glass, but he said it was perfectly made and had enough alcohol to justify the price! A to-go order of a bag of chips and 3 small 2-oz portion cups of salsa set us back $2.75. Service was spot on....chips and salsa kept coming, my coffee was refilled before it was empty and the orders were complete and not 'auctioned off' which you get sometimes. Overall, I think we shall return. On Friday night, I believe they have a mariachi band, so that might make conversation difficult, but perhaps we shall go back and check it out! read more
