At the door a young girl with attitude tells us that the only place they can sit us is upstairs and if it rains we have to take our food to go... and it looks like rain. Julie I must have driven by this place hundreds of times when I'm in dorado. So I finally decided to drop by and what a fantastic place it is. Maybe it was because the weather was just perfect for a nice dinner outdoors on the patio. It was probably around 70 degrees and I was just at the gym watching news of the impending snowstorm that's about to hit the east coast again and thinking.... Suckas, I escaped to paradise. So we started with the app sampler ($16). Enormous portions enough for 4 peeps of fried fish, calamari, chicken,wings, mozzarella and these little mofongo like cups filled with shrimps or fish. It was hit or miss. Love the fish, calamari and those lil cups of shrimp. But I wanted to save my appetite for the entree. We went with a seafood combo pilones which is mofongo and lots of fish, shrimp, crabs mashed in a wooden bowl. Delish and seafood was fresh and plentiful. Also had the chicken and rice dish and wow..... 5 stars for that. The chicken in PR just has more flavor. I've noticed that at other spots as well. It was a yellow saffron rice with peas and peppers and the dish was just singing in my mouth. This place was the perfect stop on the way back to San Juan from Cueva Del Indio. Our appetite was high and this place did not disappoint. We all had seafood dishes that were incredibly fresh and tasty. A great combo of unique and traditional flavors prepared with skill and presented beautifully. Desserts also did not disappoint though they didn't shine as much as the main dishes. Our friends who have a second home in San Juan come here on almost every visit to the island and especially recommend the Plantain Encrusted Grouper with Coconut Rum Sauce with a side of mash. Definitely make sure to stop if you are staying nearby or coming through the area. read more

We visited La Terraza to have a family reunion. We had a large party and were able to sit in the outdoor terrace. The staff is very patient and provides an excellent dining experience. The food is delicious and definitely highlights the authenticity and richness of Puerto Rican cuisine. Since there were over 20 of us, we probably tried every item on the menu. We had dinner here on New Years Eve, and even with Covid, it made for one of the best New Years yet because of the delicious food, fantastic drinks, and wonderful waiter and bartender, Luis. The atmosphere was so delightful and romantic in the evening sitting on the first floor outside (which is covered.) We ended up ordering so much food because after the appetizer and first drinks, we knew everything was going to be superb. We had the pork belly tacos for appetizer. Then we ordered 3 entrees!!! All were delicious. We had the Meat Volcano, Plantain Encrusted Grouper, and the Mahi Mahi. All were so well prepared and delicious. We had the cheese flan for dessert and it did not disappoint. Our waiter Luis has won many Mohito competitions and made us several different versions of Mohitos and they were the best I've had. The Coco Mohito was phenomenal. This is a fun little outdoor terrace, hence the name... But it's full of great food, and really good music! When I came here with my friends, there was a live band playing. We ordered some fire shots, and I can't remember what they're called... But they literally set them on fire. I would say this is a fun little spot to visit if you're hanging out in Dorado, however Dorado Puerto Rico is not really a destination point for Puerto Rico. The highlight of our foodie excursions while in the Dorado Del Mar area of Puerto Rico. My guess is the owner is there every night, and that was another highlight of the evening. Not going go through all of the 5 dishes my family had as each was unique. We shared the Crab Cakes for an appetizer. I'll say this, amazing!!! My main course was the Ahi Tuna. I loved it. My only criticism is related to the starch side, of which I can't remember the name. Regardless, the vegetable garnish on top was a bit heavy on the onion, but the carrot was superb. Had dinner here for the second time. We ate here about 3 years ago. We met our brother for dinner because he had just arrived today. We decided on la terraza. From the beginning we noticed the waiter wasn't friendly but we brushed it off. Second we ordered our food. We ordered at about 7 pm. Our food did not arrive till about 8:15. Now because of COVID I'm definitely sympathetic. But when you don't have one person that comes and checks on you or advises you kitchen is backed up. I personally get very annoyed. I'm all about customer service and that I was not given today. There was no customer service today. While we waited for our food we weren't even offered refills. When my husband asked the waiter for a time left on food he walked away with no response and went into kitchen never to Return. 15 min later we asked another servicer about our food and she came back with its being plated which we then waited 15 more minutes. Even when I asked for manager she came out so I could chat with her and I wasn't even given a sincere apology from her. I was given the excuse of being understaffed. Let me add that we ordered the 35.00 ribeye med rare and that came out rare. At this point my children had it and wanted to leave. Meanwhile a party of 6 across my table Asked for the manager and was denied to speak to him that they left. With no food in there belly's! It was 8:15! During pandemic everything closes early so god knows of these people will be going to bed hungry. But I guess I'm the only one that cares. It saddens me that during these times you have a business that truly could care less about your business. And I quote from the waiter! "Let them go! Que eso lo paga el Diablo!" Referring to the drinks. End quote from the exact same waiter that was assigned to our table. Tonight I break that streak because I just had my worst restaurant experience in at least 10 years. La Terraza is a decent outdoor restaurant in Dorado. tonight was my 4th time there over the past few years so the first three experiences were obviously ok. I will never go back to that restaurant and you should not either. Tonight I took three friends to dinner and was enraged by the service. We were sat at such a small table there was not room to put the appetizers on the table. We ordered appetizers and entrees as soon as we sat down. The appetizers came out pretty quickly and we started right in. A few minutes later the entrees came out even though we were only 1/3 through the appetizers. The wait staff took the entrees back to the kitchen and a much more aggressive staff - Jiro was his name - came out, made a scene and insisted on taking the appetizers away and setting the entrees down (on this tiny table). OMG, he was rude. It ruined our meal. We were in and out in 45 minutes while other tables seemed to have a relaxing evening. a complete waste of $200 without drinks. read more

I have a soy allergy, which is difficult to accommodate, but the owner of the restaurant went above and beyond to make sure I could eat an absolutely delicious meal. She even went to the grocery and purchase ingredients specifically for me! Talk about customer service!! The food was incredibly delicious and the atmosphere was so chill and relaxing. They also have the fresh catches of the day on display in an ice cooler, which is an amazing thing to be able to choose your own fish. I've been here several times with guests visiting the island. They have great seafood. The fish nuggets appetizer is fantastic and originally ordered because the waiter recommended it. The mofongo in pilons is very good and it is fun to see it come out in that way compared to a scoop on your plate. It is a little expensive, however the food has always been good. Service is good. Wow! What a great, truly fine dining experience in a casual laid back setting. Excellent service too. We started with taro soup, delicious; I added a breadfruit tostones octopus salad app also, yummy! My wife had the mahi mahi dinner and I went for the whole fried red snapper, one of the best meals of fish I have ever had, ever! We finished with a caramel crepe and coconut ice cream and a Nutella cheesecake with a hazelnut crust, again, wonderful. I recently took a trip to Dorado (my first time) just to relax. I didn't leave my resort much but the one time I did I went to La Terraza for dinner. The outdoor seating was exactly what I wanted! The weather was so beautiful and the patio was the perfect comfortable setting. The service was very nice and not overbearing. For an apetizer I ordered the plantains stuffed with shrimp. So delicious - the plaintains fried well and the shrimp was so tasty with just a little bit of spiciness. For my entree, I ordered the fried pork. The pork was crispy and had good flavor, yet was not too oily or dried out. It was also accompanied by some fried plantains (I can never eat too many) and a mash that I'm not sure what it was, but it was tasty as well. The prices were good, especially since the portions were pretty large. If I make it back to Dorado again I'd definitely go back. read more

While on vacation in PR last week my girlfrend and I decieded on this place above several others recommended because it looked like a great place. We went in and prices were high, but this was expected by the look and location of the building. They had seafood paella for two on the menu for $45. We decided on that. We got our plates, each of us had (not joking here) 1 shrimp, 4 mussels, and about 4 pieces of fish. ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? $45 FOR GLORIFIED RICE!!?? We asked the server to do something and they just said they were sorry. This place sucked and for that kind of $$ in PR you can eat a hell of a lot better. Even the mofongo was overpriced to other places I saw around the same area. If money has no value to you then by all means go to La Terraza, especially if you like rice paella! read more

YES!!! Yes, yes, yes. I was staying at one of the resorts in the neighborhood and the concierge kindly recommended that I take myself to dinner at La Terraza. So I took myself out, got a glass of red cabernet, and the fish tacos appetizer. FISH TACOS. Mahi Mahi, lightly fried, with a pineapple salsa and some delicious creme sauce, absolutely unreal. It is considered an appetizer, but they give you 4 big tacos, easily enough for a meal. Only $10. Perk- They also have an upstairs rooftop seating and bar area which is a MUST. read more
