We had the pleasure of being taken care of by Angelita and she made our delight her mission!! We began our meal with a bottle of The Fableist Cabernet Sauvignon, a beautiful full-bodied, but seemingly light, wine with vibrant, fruity notes of black currant and a hint of smoky oak. We then ordered the Crab Cassava Cake and the Vegan Ceviche appetizers The Vegan Ceviche was a refreshing medley of bright and fresh vegetables in a light lemon broth with a super tasty Breadfruit Fritter. The Crab Cassava Cake was an absolute SHOW STOPPER!!! The crab stew was bursting with true Puerto Rican "Criolla" flavor and was exquisitely complimented by a luscious and light cassava cake infused with tart, creamy goat cheese As a person who has never had a traditional crab cake due to a serious aversion to mayo, I was so stoked to try this version and it was absolutely worth the wait!! For our entrees, we selected the Grilled Salmon and the Chulekan. The salmon was perfectly cooked and served with asparagus and a hearty and delicious mashed Malanga (taro). The Chulekan is a traditional grilled pork chop preparation and Costa Azul has it perfected!!! The generous portion was incredibly flavorful and moist and topped amazing "mamposteo" style rice and beans. Both of our delectable meals were devoured with gusto! I love this restaurant. The ambience is beautiful and the food is good. However, the seafood burrito is what I asked for. I wanted all the seafood that they had listed shrimp, octopus, etc. but I honestly opened my burrito and I don't know what I was eating the pieces of seafood were chopped really tiny. It was in little squares. I don't even know if it was seafood. I thought I was gonna actually see large shrimp, large pieces of octopus, etc. the burrito is so big. I don't understand why I wasn't able to enjoy the pieces of whole seafood. It was strange. It was like I was eating chopped chicken all in all the service was excellent and I love their tequila bar area read more

The friendly and welcoming staff was first thing I noticed about this restaurant. I didn't catch my servers name but she was so sweet and so attentive to me. I ordered the vegan ceviche, it was so good! For my entree I got the Caribbean mofongo and was not disappointed. The portions are huge! I could have easily shared this dish. Mixed Experience - Great Staff Effort, But Poor Planning Affected Our Night We visited last night with high hopes, but unfortunately, the evening didn't go as expected. A couple of large groups (12 and 8 people) overwhelmed the restaurant, and it really impacted service for everyone else. Our drinks took about 45 minutes to arrive, and our food came out after 2.5 to 3 hours. We understand and appreciate the relaxed pace of "island time," but better communication up front would've made all the difference. If we had been told there'd be such a long delay, we would've just opted for appetizers and drinks. To the staff's credit, they tried to make things right--comping us an additional bottle of wine alongside our Prosecco order. It was a generous gesture, but after a full beach day with no food, that ended up backfiring a bit. My wife and daughter were over-served and ended up passing out in the Uber home. It threw off the rest of our night and even caused us to miss a planned excursion the next morning. We love a good night out and are definitely not shy about drinks, but the lack of food and communication really impacted our experience. With a bit more transparency from the front-of-house team, it could have been a very different evening. Once the food was here, I will say it was worth the wait! Food: 3/5 Service: 1/5 We had a confirmed reservation for 11 people and, overall, it was a negative experience. There was live music, and the saxophonist was amazing. The appetizers were delicious and came out in a timely manner. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the entrées. It took over 90 minutes for them to arrive, and they were brought out three at a time in 10-15 minute increments. Some people finished their meals before others had even received theirs. The last person to receive their entrée was still eating while we were signing and paying the bill. Additionally, the entrées were either cold or overcooked. While we were waiting, staff continued to bring bottles of water, which we later had to pay for. We were not given a clear explanation for the delay, and the only compensation offered was shots of alcohol or champagne, which we politely declined. Overall, I would give this a 2/5 rating, solely because of the delicious appetizers and the live music. read more

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance, and I'm so glad we did! Now, I can't help but recommend it to anyone visiting Puerto Rico. Our server was fantastic! They took the time to explain the menu and suggested a few delicious dishes. We went with the Mofongo de Pollo, and let me tell you it was the best dish we had during our trip! They even gave us some extra cheese béchamel sauce to try, which was a delightful touch. The flavors were just incredible! Angelica and Aileen took excellent care of us. The atmosphere was swanky and trendy and although not busy at all (sadly!) the ambiance was amazing because it felt like we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. We had been looking for good seafood our entire stay in Puerto Rico and we finally found it at Costa Azul. The mixed seafood ceviche was to die for! So incredibly fresh and flavorful. This is our third time visiting costa azul. We were guests of a very generous uncle who worked all day with patients at 86 but wanted to treat us to dinner. It all started very nice. We ordered appetizers and wine. We also ordered dinner which included the house specials. Dinner took over an hour. People came and went. My uncle complained. The waitress said about an hour later that she placed the order 3 minutes earlier. Absolutely ridiculous. Our order included ceviche, churrasco, pork chop, fish and veal chop, which was the house special. The food was not hot, we weren't served for 1.5 hours and there was no apology, no explanation or free dessert. That's not how you treat your customers. My uncle is a regular customer so it hurts even more to say, they owe us a better experience. The food was great, which makes this review even harder to write. If they want to stay in business they need to do better. read more

Small and cozy restaurant. Definitely a hidden gem. Amazing food, drinks, service, and live music. Food was very tasty. We are from Boston and love their seafood. That's to show how tasty and fresh it is. It was a long wait for the entrees for our group of 11 but it was worth it when food was amazing. It probably would help to make reservations so the restaurant can ensure sufficient staff and fresh seafood like they did with us. During the long wait for entrees, the staff only had two other tables. So they had time to teach us how to do the salsa. The saxophonist also came to our table to play the happy birthday song and later he played a special request of a Vietnamese song. We ate at Costa Azul on Friday, March 29th a party of 6. The wait for our food was Super long and when our food had finally arrived it was so salty. My husband and I ordered the seafood mofongo, mind you we ordered this dish at many restaurants in Isabela, PR and it was superb at the other locations but super, super salty here. Another one ordered the churrasco steak which was not only super chewy but extremely salty. When the waitress came over so see if everything was ok we told her about the salty food and she never told the chef, she just shrugged it off.
