-- Extremely disappointing experience from a longtime customer…read more My wife and I have been going to Ola Boba since they opened, and we've always enjoyed their boba and the friendly service. Unfortunately, our most recent visit was extremely disappointing, both in terms of quality and customer service. Both boba drinks were very flat, excessively icy, and lacked their usual flavor and creamy consistency. Something was noticeably off with the balance of ingredients, whether it was the milk, sweetness, or preparation. Even the tapioca pearls tasted unusually plain, without the sweetness we've consistently experienced here over the years. We brought this to the employee's attention and asked whether the drinks could be remade or corrected. The original drinks were taken back, but what we received afterward was hardly an improvement. I'm not sure exactly what was done, but the drinks now tasted excessively sweet rather than having their usual balanced flavor. The presentation was equally disappointing. The cups were messy, liquid was dripping down the sides, whipped cream was smeared around, and the plastic dome lids were dented and pushed inward. The drinks looked crushed and carelessly handled, especially considering they had already been returned once because of quality concerns. Unfortunately, the customer service made the experience even worse. The employee assisting us came across as rude and dismissive, which was particularly disappointing because the staff here have typically been welcoming and friendly. While my wife and I were seated inside the restaurant, facing toward the parking lot, apparently the employee called our name to let us know our drinks were ready, but we didn't hear her. Rather than approaching our table to notify us, she walked away and left the drinks sitting there. It wasn't until another server, who appeared to work for the adjoining restaurant rather than Ola Boba, came over and informed us that our drinks were ready. At that point, after already having the drinks returned for correction once, we weren't going to ask for a third attempt. We simply took them and left. What makes this especially unacceptable is that we paid almost $15 for just two boba drinks. That's not an insignificant amount of money, especially in this economy, when people are being more mindful of how they spend their hard-earned money. At that price, expecting drinks that are properly prepared, taste the way they're supposed to, and are presented professionally is not asking too much. Instead, we paid nearly $15 for two disappointing drinks, an unsuccessful attempt to fix them, and an unpleasant customer service experience. That's simply not acceptable. We understand that Ola Boba is temporarily serving its drinks out of the neighboring restaurant, and we have no issue with that arrangement. However, operating from a different location shouldn't result in such a noticeable decline in the quality, preparation, presentation, and service that longtime customers have come to expect. This was a one-star experience across the board: disappointing drink quality, an unsuccessful attempt to correct the problem, unacceptable presentation, poor value for nearly $15, and customer service that fell far below what we've experienced here over the years. It's especially frustrating because we know how good their boba normally is. I hope management takes this feedback seriously and restores the quality and welcoming service that made us regular customers in the first place. I'm open to updating this review based on future experiences and genuine improvements.

I liked Fruitealicious in Dallas so we were glad SA had a location. The menu is a bit different…read moreand is more catered towards mixed, sugary concoctions rather than just tea and coffee. Their coffee is usually good. Although my daughter loves lemonade, she didn't like it here. We've tried ordering it twice--both times she didn't like it. I usually get fruit teas or milk teas. It's a hit and miss with their milk teas (sometimes it just tastes like milk). Drinks are customizable: base (teas/coffee) + flavors (fruit or classic flavors: matcha, almond, taro, black sugar) + mixers (or toppers). They do have grass jelly and chia seeds. Drinks here are inconsistent. I feel that it's that way all over SA (regardless of how big/popular the chains are). They really do need to do better w/ training. When we attempt to customize anything the employees just look at us like a deer in the headlights. It's pretty amusing sometimes. I feel like it's a gamble every time I go into a boba shop in this city.

I ordered: - Fat Cat Purrfect Latte Large - Original Waffle I honestly don't know the difference between the Fat Cat Purrfect Latte and something like a regular Brown Sugar Milk Tea, but I loved the name and the drink was pretty good. Not overwhelmingly sweet and you can taste the tea flavor. I didn't get boba with it so I can't speak for the quality of the boba. I also ordered the Original Waffle with no topics because I'm an extremely basic person. They do take a while to make understandably so, but not gonna lie I finished my drink and went back to my car. Then started the enginge only to realize I still have a bubble waffle being made. I came back and the team member updated me on how much time was left until it's completed which is appreciated. It was worth the wait though. It was a really good bubble waffle with a fluffy interior and crispy outside. I'd be happy coming back here again.

I looked at the menu online & saw they have a Matcha Levitea with Green Jelly and it's only $4 so I stopped by after the gym. There was a construction truck with a crane in front so I parked on the side by the drive-thru. I walked in and it was quiet, no piped in music but a young male employee came to the counter. I showed him my phone with the BOGOF reward & told him that I wanted the Matcha Latte. I paid for what was listed as 1 order on the kiosk & figured he'd make 2 of the same? I asked if I could use the restroom & he said it was around the corner. While he was making my drink, I went to the co-ed bathroom. I looked in the toilet & it was disgustingly dirty so I left & didn't bother using it. I waited & saw him prep only one drink but figured he was doing it one at a time. A gentleman came in with 2 little kids and said to me "Are they open?" And I said "Yeah, there's someone here." The clerk came out & the man said "Where's the menu?" The clerk pointed to the laminated menu on the counter. They used to have a lit menu board above the counter but it's gone or maybe broken? Afterwards, the clerk gave me my drink & I said "Isn't it BOGOF?" and he said "I wasn't sure what you wanted for the other one??" I think he's not very assertive working the front counter because he didn't even bother to ask me when he took my order?? Maybe he's new and/or wasn't trained? Plus, I was the only customer in the store when he took my order. I told him I wanted the same thing. He proceeded to make me another one & I thanked him. While waiting, I took photos of games, events & promos they have. Maybe it's busier in the evening when young kids hang out after school or for those events? As far as the Matcha Levitea, it was really refreshing, not cloyingly sweet & perfect for the mid-day. I'd go back for that!

The setup made the space feel strangely empty and crowded at the same time, and the vibe was a little awkward. I ordered the chrysanthemum honey ginger tea at 50% sweetness. The sweetness level was good--just barely sweet, perfection for me. Every so often I'd get a concentrated glob of honey that was much sweeter. I'm not sure if this was an order of operations issue, honey and iced tea vs hot honey tea with ice. Unfortunately, the chrysanthemum flavor was nonexistent. I'm not sure if the tea hadn't been steeped long enough or if the flowers weren't very fresh, but I was hoping for that distinctive floral chrysanthemum flavor and really couldn't taste it. Not a bad experience, but definitely not as enjoyable as I was hoping for on my second visit.

Our middle kid ordered their food, "medium," and they can eat pretty spicy food. The food came, and I was enjoying the two dishes my husband and I were sharing. They were just the right heat, for "hot." But the middle kid was complaining that theirs was too hot. I tasted what was supposed to be "medium" and it was hotter than our "hot" dishes. My husband tried it, agreed, and said, "that's too hot for me." The middle kid said" I can't eat this. It's too hot." I told the waitress about it, and she said "the medium is made with actual Thai chilies, whereas the hot is made with chili flakes." I asked, "so, it's normal for the medium to be hotter than hot?" She replied, "it depends on the dish." And then she asked if my kid wanted a different dish and wanted that one taken away. Our kid said yes and ordered another dish, with no spice but asked for it to go because we were almost done and they were sharing our "hot" food with no problem. After my husband paid, I found out they charged for the overly hot dish. I know "hot" and "medium" are somewhat subjective, but we had all agreed the "medium" dish was way hotter than the "hot." The waitress should have not charged us for the uneaten dish, or at least made it clear she would have to charge us for it. Though my food was decent, it was definitely not special, and the lobster in the pad Thai was so overcooked that it was tough. The situation put a bad taste in my mouth, and we will never eat here again.
