Had my first date with my now husband here 7 years ago.Coming back it has a lot of nostalgia. I just wish the broth was a little more flavorful. The noodles are great. It is a small place. The Takoyaki was great!
This was a bit of hard review for us. The owners(I assume) cooking were great, the small space was nicely decorated, and the smells coming out of the kitchen were great. All the anime and figures on the wall were cool. It was just me and the midget, if momma would've come she may have had a problem with the girls on walls in bathroom! The food, well it was underwhelming. Not bad, but not great either. I will just get to the gripe. It was a tad bland. Ok I'm being nice, it lacked flavor. If you do pretty much just one thing, I want to be blown away, and I want to feel the kick of the spice. We ordered spicy for me, and regular spicy for the little one. Bland and no kick. I mean the bowls were pretty to look at. If you say spicy, make it spicy. Our fav was the ika geso (calamari). Man it was good. The takoyaki was also great. I would definitely order it again. We will come back as a full clan, and try other dishes. Maybe if we tell them, please make it spicy.
I tried both the Hakata Ramen Chicken (mild) and the Hell Ramen, opting for Hot N Spicy Level 3, which was perfect. Note, the sweet corn was a great balance to the spicy level. Since I don't eat pork, I ordered the Hell Ramen with add-on chicken and removed the flanks of pork myself. I also got a side of add-on noodles, which was a nice addition to share between two people One standout aspect of my visit was the welcoming and inclusive atmosphere. I noticed four LGBTQ couples come in at different times during my meal, and they all seemed welcomed and comfortable. It's great to see such a friendly environment. Overall, a satisfying meal and a positive experience!
My favorite ramen place in USA so far. Cute cozy small restaurant. Ramen broth is delectable. Love their spicy edamame & gyoza, add a soda and it's the perfect meal. Service is quick and easy. It seems like they get busy on certain days/times and seating is scarce but I've always been able to sit when visiting. I will always come here when in SATX.
Saw someone talking about the ramen here so I had to try for myself. I've tried a couple of places and the broth was never that good. Ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and the broth was yummy! Gave them 4 stars because it was so hot inside (not sure if the AC was broken) and eating hot ramen just made it so uncomfortable. I was sweating the whole time! Service was good and they were busy the day we came.
When we walked in to this restaurant m, it was like walking into a ramen place in Japan. It has a great atmosphere and the music playing overhead is awesome. There wasn't someone at the register but they came quickly from the back. They were very nice and helpful with helping up with our selection. My daughter and I ordered the Hakkata Ramen. It was chicken broth with chicken, corn, green onion, and half an egg. The flavor was great! The serving was big! We also orders the fried dumplings. They were prepared perfectly! We will definitely be coming back!
Very cool laid back place. First time going to a ramen place and having the option to order Kim chi, so I thought that was pretty cool. Food for me did lack some flavor overall. There was nothing that really stood out to me flavor wise compared to other noodle spots! But just my opinion, always come try it for yourself and support local.
Darn good Ramen right here! Great broth, super flavorful. Food is always on point. Highly recommend!
I'd have to say, I enjoyed this cute little ramen shop. The inside is decorated with all different anime, including one of my favorites, Dragonball Z. I had the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and my wife had the Tonkotsu, we also ordered the spicy edamame, kimchee, and the fried rolls. All the items we tried for the first time were delicious, so good in fact I wish there were more noodles in the bowl. The only thing I would change is maybe the sauce that is drizzled on top of the egg rolls. The service was very impressionable, friendly and polite. It was really nice and made the dinner more enjoyable in an authentic manner. Glad we tried it and I'm sure we'll make our way back.
One of my favorite ramen places to come to! Tried the tonkotsu this time and it was so nice and creamy! The spicy ramen is SPICY especially at a level 4. The edamame was seasoned very well and of course the shrimp were nice and crispy. Perfect spot to go when the weather is cold outside, inside very small but your able to eat with friends and family. Service was super quick and very helpful in helping you pick out new things to try! read more

We ordered the topoyaki octopus balls, Tokyo Spicy Ramen Pork, kimchi, and karaage chicken (tasted like chicken strips). Everything was really good. Loved all the flavors, especially the kimchi. It's not too spicy, well seasoned. The place is really tiny inside and doesn't have a variety of drinks. No soft drinks, only to 2 different types of iced teas and water. No alcoholic beverages. Service is poor, when we arrived we waited a few minutes and no one came to the counter to help or take our orders. Finally, the door opens, and a guy takes our orders, very quiet and without a greeting. read more

We've ordered from Ito Raman many times for delivery, but this was the first time we went in person. It's a small little place with high and low top seating. You order at the register first and then take your seat. Again, it's a small place, so there's no seating hostess. The ramen from here is very tasty and I'm pretty sure they put butter in it which makes it tastier. This location offers a hellfire Ramen that you can get on a level from 1 to 5 in spiciness. That's not my thing, but my fiancé loves it. I got the regular Tonkotsu ramen and it was delicious. This location does not sell alcohol, but they have several options for non-alcoholic drinks. They have cute decorations drawn on the wall and the lighting is dim and relaxing. read more
Was craving ramen really badly while in town and decided to give it a try (though, coming from Austin, nothing beats Ramen Tatsuya for me). I had low expectations for any of the ramen places around SA, but this one wasn't terrible. The place is extremely small, so best to do takeout unless you get there at a good time and can get yourself a spot at one of the few tables. It's cozy and has relaxing vibes, though, and the service was good. You order at the counter and they call your name or bring it over to your table. We tried the honey cheese puffs (3/5) and both got the traditional/original Tonkatsu ramen (3/5). The cheese puffs were straight forward, but a bit small. The Tonkatsu broth was pretty good - a bit too salty if we're being nit-picky, but overall decent. The bowl just lacked depth in terms of what else was in it, and the egg was certainly disappointing in flavor. Overall, it was okay. It fulfilled my ramen craving and was a good experience! read more
Small kitchen does not, in my opinion, validate as an excuse to get away with offering overpriced ($5.25) Canned options that aren't clearly listed on the menu as such. My previous visit the Thai tea tasted Terrible. I informed the counter person and she said they'd been receiving lots of complaints. I suggested the batch might be bad. She said they'd check the cans expiration date. Not a great way to promote yourself as authentic but can be overlooked. What can Not be excited is the experience from today's visit. I ordered a spicy pork (#3) for my daughter and a spicy veggie (#5) for myself. I didn't check, as I so obviously should have learned by now to do Every Restaurant Every Time, to verify they rang the correct items. I was given a total and paid. Turns out they rang me for #4 Ito spicy ramen which is listed as literally a non spicy veggie ramen. No biggie. My order name was called, I picked up to see 2 pork dishes on the tray. I called back the staff to inform them one was meant to be veggie. They promptly took the #4 ramen dish I was rang up, and just as promptly returned it to me, minus the pork slices they fished out. ...Just No. Not acceptable. I was informed the broth is the same. Not anywhere near the point. The bowl was taken back to the back again, to have a person speaking with managerial like authority (no introduction was made so I cannot verify this) pop out seconds later to ask the issue. I explained I wanted veggie, I didn't get veggie, and I wasn't ok with reading a bowl of ramen that didn't start full veggie. I was told ok. Sat down, few minutes later the (manager?) Brought a bowl to the table that was hurriedly placed in such a manner as to come off as slamming. Mumbled something to which I responded thank you as they just as hurriedly left. Replacement dish as pictured. Overall, how do you trust a place that puts meat in a veggie based entree, fishes it out and considered it acceptable fix, and bills you for Thai tea like they make it? Sadly I no longer can. Goodbye Ito. There's plenty of other ramen houses in the area that I'm sure will appreciate my business enough to not insult me with fished out pork product from my vegetarian meal. read more
Found this place on a Yelp search and are we glad we did...this was some of the most authentic tasting ramen we've had since we left Misawa Japan...even the decor of the restaurant brings you back to the tiny ramen shops around the villages...great food and experience...Will definitely be back... read more
Such an awesome find!! I stopped by here with a couple of friends and I'm so glad we did. After reading the reviews, I just had to the Tonkatsu ramen bowl and I also got a side of the karaage chicken, both were incredible. The only critique I had for this place was that the seating can get a bit crowded with the large ramen bowls at the table. Other wise it's a super cute shop with kind workers that made us feel welcome! read more

Ramen on a rainy day? Duh! But in reality I love ramen any day! Still exploring San Antonio since my hubby and I just moved here! We both love ramen and stumbled upon this gem on Yelp, of course! They import their noodles from Japan (according to another yelper) and they were cooked to perfection. The broth is silky and full of taste! I felt transported to a tiny authentic ramen house in Japan! Ito ramen is a tiny yet thriving ramen shop! The decor/ambiance is very animé and I love it! Service is very easy and quick! You order at the counter, pay, then sit and wait for your order. The seating is mostly communal which is great and I personally don't mind! Price point is pretty average for ramen! Portion is a decent size bowl! We also ordered spicy edamame, egg rolls and the best kimchi I've had in a while! Which is ironic because kimchi is Korean but even my hubby who is Korean, approved of the kimchi! Overall a delightful experience! Lots of options on the menu! Enjoy! Syoy! Aloha! read more
This was our first visit and will be going back. I really enjoyed the gyoza and the atmosphere in the restaurant. We had friends visiting from out of town (who enjoy watching anime) and this was a treat for us. We enjoyed seeing all the art/shows represented on their walls. I don't usually order ramen but I was a fan of the Tonkatsu. I ordered it without green onions and mushrooms. One of the Tokyo Spicy Ramen Pork had an add of chicken, another added bamboo, and I believe the last one was a regular. I will say it was pretty small inside and had a total of about four tables. They have plenty of seating though if you want to sit close to people and make friends. I believe there was outdoor seating and of course there's a take out option. read more

Huge fan of this restaurant! I love the lowkey vibe that is Ito Ramen, from the appetizers to the ramen and adding the guava juice you cannot go wrong with this place. Whenever I have the opportunity to go I always start with the takoyaki balls and then order my tonkotsu ramen paired with my fav guava drink and I'm satisfied every single time. So thankful for this place! read more

I was so let down :( i really wanted to love this place. the atmosphere is cute. the anime on the walls was... different. but the vibe was there. music was on theme. lighting was intimate and it wasn't too busy. also the service was awesome. Fast & friendly. but the food was such a let down. i ordered the spicy edamame and as soon as that first bite hit it tasted like ash. it was chalky and after the first bite i decided not to even finish the rest of it. i also ordered the karaage chicken and it tasted like it had been fried in old oil. yucky. lastly, the mochi ice cream is just the regular old mochi ice cream you buy from the grocery store. still loved it but i was hoping for more. also somewhat let down they didn't have a mural in the women's bathroom but had one in the men's bathroom. That's beside the point. Even though i didn't have the ramen, i won't be returning. Going to have to find another go to Ramen spot in town. but just know, Ito Ramen... i REALLY wanted to like this place. Hope you can improve on these points. All love. read more

Ever since this place opened, my husband and my friends always come in to dine when we have the chance. The food speaks for itself. The tonkatsu ramen is rich and savory. The meat is so tender that it practically melts in your mouth with amazing flavor. The ramen is cooked perfectly for the best texture. You have the option to remove certain ingredients so if you have any allergies or preference, good news for you! Also this place serves the crispiest and juiciest takoyaki you'll eat. No other place does takoyaki justice, and I best believe the cooks know how to make it best in San Antonio. My husband and I have ordered the Ito Veggie Ramen and it is delicious in every aspect! Also, they do have the Hell Ramen where if you want to challenge yourself on eating something really spicy, Ito Ramen is the place. As for the drinks, just try it. They're all amazing to drink especially the guava drink. It pairs perfectly with whatever you're eating. The place is small, but there multiple spots and tables you can eat at! The place is also dimly lit, which is perfect if you want to escape the summer heat. You can also hear some great Japanese hits in the background that enhances the dining experience even more! The staff is friendly and don't mind giving great recommendations on what to eat or drink! read more

Do they not make the spicy miso ramen anymore?
Sadly no, I asked the same question some time ago. They said it wasn't very popular. You can,…
I hope to God this place is good. Is this place really that good?
It is! The food quality is excellent. The flavor is amazing. My family was in Hawaii recently where there are several Authentic Ramen restaurants and the paled in comparison to Ito.
Can anyone tell me if the owners/cook are Japanese? Thanks in advance!
I cannot tell you if they are from Japanese decent exactly but they are definitely from Pan-Asian decent.
