First off- I am a REGULAR. My order is Garlic Tonkotsu with a side Chicharrón (when they have it) and I like to add bok choy and I'll add their spicy paste. It's delicious. They make their spicy paste in house so sometimes it's a little spicier than usual but I'm just careful how much I add. I like that they make it though. The chicharron comes and goes. They had it for a long time, then got rid of it, then brought it back for a month-ish. The chicharron is my favorite part of the meal. I'll put some in the soup spoon, add a little broth...man it's good. The noodles are always perfect. Never too soft or undercooked. Everything about the ramen is great. Madison is our usual waitress and she's always got my order down. I like the staff consistency. Any staff members that take care of us usually does a great job. The vibe of the shop is very cool too. Lots of Asian culture decorating the walls, ceilings, and columns. My only wish is that they'd just make the seasoned Chicharrón a permanent item on the menu. read more

Last time I will ever dine here. Went in for dinner, it wasn't busy but we waited a long time to be greeted and place a drink order. Tables and chairs were sticky and dirty. While waiting I went to the bathroom and on the way there I was afraid to touch anything especially the curtain leading to the bathroom. While in the bathroom I noticed pee on the toilet and trash everywhere. I was afraid to eat my meal after that. Disgusting and dirty for a place that serves food and drinks. Do better for goodness sake, you serve food to people! read more

This is my third visit to this location for happy hour. It's not too busy, the air conditioning is cold, and the staff is friendly. The service can be quick, so if you're taking a late lunch, you can grab some extra snacks for later. The ramen is enjoyable, featuring a salty broth and al dente noodles, and it's consistently good. My favorite dishes include the ahi tuna salad, which has fruit like apples and strawberries, the karaage, and the honey sriracha wings. The salad is topped with a generous amount of crispy noodles, which I really like. The karaage is served hot and crispy. The wings are also crispy when you get them. I took a lot home and reheated them the next day; they were delicious, although not as crispy as fresh, which is to be expected. However, I do not recommend the bibimbap. It lacks the right sauce, resulting in a sweet and somewhat bland flavor. read more

It's our first time trying this place. We were looking for some ramen place in San Antonio. And found this. Love the interior design, made you feel relaxed. The food was delicious too. We were surprised by the sashimi taco (I don't remember the dish name), but it was amazing! I enjoyed this dish the best!! Other dishes were delicious too! read more

The ramen was delicious. The broth was flavorful and a very hearty portion. We tried the Cilantro Lime Ramen with Pork Belly and a Chicken Ramen. I was happy to see a whole egg :). The service was fast and our server was knowledgeable. They have great Happy Hour specials and it gets really crowded, especially on a weekend. There is also music on the louder side, so if you are looking for quiet, this is not it. read more

I have seen this spot for years and always wanted to come check it out. Finally did this past weekend. So many different ramen bowls to choose from. Racy sitting, fast service. The ramen bowl I got was the garlic one that was the most popular. I loved it. Loved every bite. Reasonably priced too! Definitely coming back here read more

The lineup: Bakudan Edamame, Tempura Ramen, Garlic Tonkotsu, The scoop: Nice ramen spot that would be good for families, get togethers and dates. They have an outdoor patio with a few tables that would be perfect for larger parties. Noodles are made fresh daily and you can tell! Came on a busy night but service was still stellar. The Yays: Plenty of choices for pescatarians and vegetarians! Tempura Ramen was delicious. Tasty broth, tempura was crispy, and the thin noodles were fresh and cooked to perfection. Garlic Tonkotsu was a hit. Broth was delicious, pork was on point, and the thick noodles were perfect. Bakudan Edamame was a good light appetizer. The edamame was made more delectable with the garlic and chili they sprinkled in. If you like spicy, you'll like their chili sauce. There's a 50 cent charge per ramen bowl but I recommend asking for it on the side so you can modify it to your liking. One order is plenty for two people. Not listed on their menu but they had fresh Asahi on draft! The Nays: No notes! read more

Love the vegetarian ramen and edamame with spicy sauce, always hits the spot. Served hot, tastes fresh, delicious and satisfying.

This is our default go-to for Ramen in the area. We've tried most every Raman dish and they ALL are fantastic. My favorite is the garlic tan tan which is very heady and savory with the right amount to garlic. (It's easy to overdo) The noodles in their dishes are always tender but not overcooked to the point of falling apart. We always have an appetizer of edeamame whose salt in a nice precursor to your ramen. Service has always been tops and the interior has a nice Asian vibe going on without being a a cliche. This is a chain but they really to Ramen well. Recommend you give one a try. read more

4.5 Stars Casual spot in a trendy atmosphere featuring yummy Ra and Non-traditional Asian dishes. I had the BibimBap ($10.99) with steak ($5) -- it wasn't a super traditional Bibimbap, but it included chunks of KBBQ seasoned steak, steamed veggies, and an egg on rice served in a hot stone pot, which made the rice on the edges crispy. Others tried the Spicy Umami Miso Ramen ($14.75) and Curry Chicken Katsu ($14.99), both of which were enjoyed! The only issue with the Katsu was that the breading had puffed away and separated from the meat. The restaurant is located in a mall plaza with a modern interior and attentive staff. read more

Food, service and ambiance were all perfect! We enjoyed our experience and will definitely be back.

While not the best ramen I've had, it's still good enough that I'll be back to try more. I had the spicy umami miso ramen which was probably the best of the three we ordered at the table. I found it to be a mild spicy. My only real complaint is that the noodles weren't very flavorful. Other than that, I thought everything else was on point. Service was great. And thank goodness they keep the place cool enough to enjoy a hot soup on a hot Texas summer afternoon! read more

Great Raman. Great drinks. Great service. Clean. Quiet. Not overly loud or crowded. I'll definitely be going back.

It used to be great but seems the quality is going down. When it first opened we went but regular ramen noodles were not vegan and they up charged $3 for veggie noodles. Vegan broth is sub par. Used to love the San Antonio flavor bomb but it somehow changed and no longer tastes the same. They recently changed their noodles so all the ramen noodles are vegan is what I was told. We haven't been back since quality went down. Prices are outta gea for what you get. One time I ordered a hot pot and when it arrived the form was in the pot and when I picked up fork it burned my hand because fork had heated up from pot. And I'm not talking just hot, it left a blister on my finger. I couldn't eat food for a out 20 minutes because fork was too hot. Server ignored me when I mentioned it and said it's a hot pot so everything is hot. Not acceptable. Atmosphere is good. Decor is cute. Usually busy but lately I've noticed it's always empty. Happy hour is good so we get edamame and a few cocktails. read more

Oh my god. Okay, I'll keep it simple- it's incredible. Service? Efficient, kind, and quick. Food? Incredible, rich, flavorful, and filling. Ambiance?, pretty normal, when it's full it's pretty loud and they have anime playing on the screen to grab your attention, very cozy!, I got the tempura ramen, I was a little nervous that the broth would be too "fishy/shrimpy" but it was sooo good. Rich and warm and umami. 10/10 recommend! For 5 people/5 ramens my total came to about $121(including a 15$ tip so 106) which for the food? Completely fair and worth it! I also got one of their cocktails DELICIOUS! (And oh my gosh those eggs. To die for.) read more

Bakudan Ramen in Stone Oak never disappoints! We have come here quite a bit, and it's always a great experience. I have brought family, friends, coworkers to this joint lol This time we decided to try a few new things and really enjoyed the takoyaki fries... super tasty and fun to share. I was craving some heat, so I went with the Cajun ramen. I was warned about the spice level (fair enough!), and it definitely delivered! It hit that spicy craving perfectly, though I did have to stop sipping the broth... it triggered a little coughing fit (IYKYK), but that's on me. Might be a skill issue lol. My daughter had the curry katsu, which she absolutely loved, and my BFF ordered the spicy shoyu, which was also a hit. The food always comes out fast, the staff is super friendly, and the whole place just has great vibes. Didn't get a drink this time, but I've had them before and they're so good. Plus, happy hour is daily from 3-6 PM! Huge win! Big shout out to the chefs, we seriously love your food and can't wait to come back! read more

We're regulars at Bakudan Ramen, and when it comes to crave-worthy comfort food, their Spicy Tuna Nachos and Bakudan Chicken Ramen (with extra chicken and sautéed shrimp, of course) are our go-to combo. The nachos are a spicy, crunchy delight--layered with bold flavor and just the right kick. And the ramen? Rich broth, generous toppings, and a satisfying depth that keeps us coming back. Here's the catch: when we order through Yelp, everything arrives exactly as requested. But when we use the Favor app, it's a gamble. Missing extras, swapped ingredients, or just plain confusion. It seems like Favor doesn't relay customizations clearly, which is frustrating when you know how good the dish should be. read more

Really disappointed with this place, I figured since they had 2 locations in SA they were good. I was very wrong. We ordered chicken karaage, that was so nasty I didn't even take a picture of it. It's been a while since I have been here but since this Valentines I had a 'date' with my daughters High School soccer game and we were all a bit cold from sitting on the sidelines - a warm bowl of ramen sounded just perfect. This place is just so great ! It was busy with both inside and outside full but service was still fast, friendly and did not miss a beat - this accompanied by a fantastic playlist of largely 90s rap made for a great night! Began with a cocktail that they had curated for Valentines called Love Potion which was a combination of Empress Gin, rose lemonade and rose petals - which were fabulous and had the Poke Tacos as an appetizer which were also great! I has the Vegetarian Ramen bowl, my husband had the Umami Miso ramen my daughter had the Udon Chicken Ramen - they were all fantastic though so big, we could not get through it all - but it was so, so good! This is a great spot - great drinks, food and service! Got to go back more often!! read more

It's been a cold couple of days, and ramen is what I had in mind. Daddy-Daughter dinner was @bakudanramenstoneoak. We did miss happy hour, which ended at 6pm. Pretty good business with many people wanting the same thing for dinner. Dad had Lemonade, and I had the Lychee Lemongrass. We started off with the Pork Bun, and Shrimp Tempura. Pork was very tender. The shrimp wasn't what we had expected, and was heavy on the batter. Dad still enjoyed, and ate several pieces. We then shared the Garlic Tonkotsu. Yum! Great flavor with the soup, and chashu was tender. Lauren was our server and did a great job. read more

I dropped my dog off at Petco for a New Year's Eve grooming. While I was waiting, I decided to check out this restaurant. I got to the restaurant a little after 11 Am. There was no wait to be seated. The waiter came and greeted me shortly after I was seated. He was very polite and attentive. I started off by ordering a Kirin Ichiban to drink. When he got back with my drink, I ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry Rice. The dish was devious. The chicken was nicely fried. Just a note, the curry is just a topping for the chicken on this dish. Don't expect a bowl of curry on this dish. The place has a casual feel to it. There was a TV towards the back that was playing Avatar the Last Airbender. There are some out there who will be relieved to know that they were showing the series and not the movie. They have what looks like a nice outdoor area. I suggest people try this place if they are in the area. read more

First time visiting any ramen restaurant in San Antonio! It was a pleasant experience; the ambiance was upbeat and felt positive--music was diverse and pretty good sound system. Anyways back to the food, asked our waitress her recommendations and decided to get the cilantro lime with everything in it. The broth was yummy and hot, noodles were cooked perfectly. Overall, it was just enjoyable experience and would be back to try other menu items. read more

Great food! The ramen had great flavors. The garlic tonkotsu was spicy but sooo good. The chicken ramen is on the non spicy side and was perfect for me. We also got starters of the Takayuki and the chicken bun. The Takayuki is a little too fishy for my taste but my family loved them. The chicken bun was delicious. The chicken was fried pecans the sauce they used was yummy. This place is set off of TPC parkway, in a great easy to get to location. Parking is a little issue but in all I would come back. Our server was sweet and was great ate the recommendations. She was constantly filling our drink glasses. She was amazing! The restaurant itself is cute. It looks like a little dinner off of the road in Japan. It's has 2 big TVS for you to watch and funky music. I would recommend this place and I will be coming back. read more

Been there twice now, had great service both times and had the garlic tonkotsu, definitely recommended.

Location/Parking: This ramen restaurant is located in Stone Oak off the 281. There are lots of parking at this restaurant. Food: They offer a variety of ramen like Garlic Tonkatsu. They have Japanese appetizers and entrees like shrimp tempura, curry rice, chicken karaage and chicken katsu. Drinks: They have a full bar and offer a variety of specialty drinks. Price: A ramen bowl cost around $15. A kid's ramen is $8.50. Ambiance: The ambiance is an Asian bar feel with Asian decor. I love how they play anime on one of the tvs. Overall, we will be back again! Our favorite was the Tonkatsu Ramen. I love the egg, pork and all the goodies inside of the ramen. The broth was very flavorful! read more

I'm a huge ramen conesuer. I lived in Japan for 3 years and needed a ramen fix. I ordered the Ichiran ramen as it's named after one of my favorite ramen chains in Japan. I ordered mine without kikurage (wood ear aka mushroom) and green onions. If you don't mind those items you will definitely enjoy Bakudan's rendition of Ichiran Ramen which was very similar in flavor to the one I would eat in Japan. I also ordered a plate of gyoza (fried dumplings). Everything was flavorful and definitely hit the spot! Great place for a quick lunch or dinner with friends or family. Kid friendly. Great service!
