Everything you would want in a ramen restaurant is right here, hip atmosphere, knowledgeable, helpful staff, and expertly executed food. We had the Charred Edamame, Shiitake Mushrooms, Chicharrón Chicken, and the Tonkotsu Ramen. Each dish had great depth of flavor and was delicious.
I was excited to see a ramen option in San Antonio and decided to check it out. The restaurant was cute and the service was efficient. The food though left a lot to desire. The karage tasted like the chicken bites from costco and the ramen broth was lacking in flavor. It was edible but I definitely would not recommend or come back of you are looking for an authentic Japanese ramen experience.
We came here with high expectations based off reviews and recommendations however, we were highly disappointed in our experience here. The kushi sampler had great texture but the sauces were a little too salty. Their ramen from the secret menu was subpar. The spicy pork shoyu had 0 spice/was very bland. Also, it had less ingredients than their normal ramens. Service was as expected and no major complaints in that regard. The outdoor space seemed very nice but was not open for service when we got there. Where we were seated indoors, there was condensation dripping on me from one of their vents. They said they do offer military discounts but only if you are in uniform which I found highly unusual as I would not expect people to come in uniform just to dine.
My friend and I were looking for nearby Ramen Restaurants and we stumbled upon Kuriya. I was intrigued by how the food was presented and had to give it a try. When we arrived we noticed the sign right away and were excited to try out the tasty food. We got to the restaurant at about the time they opened and they greeted us right away to a table. We had no problems and had the most chill server. She made me feel welcomed by giving us cooked edamame as a treat for being a new customer! The vibe was super comfortable and seemed like a place where you could do some studying as well. I ordered the Tonkotsu Ramen and can I say it was one of the most flavorful bowls of ramen I've ever tasted. I was instantly in love with the taste of flavors and well cooked vegetables and meat. This lovely place does not disappoint in the slightest when it comes to deliciousness and service. I would definitely come here again to take family & more friends!
The kimchi fried rice was good, on the spicy side but still tolerable. The Kushi platter was my favorite appetizer. Chargrilled edamames are really good too! Will revisit when in the area.
Super cool art decor. Sustainable products. Supports local and numerous charity organizations. Fun drink menu with lots of interesting options. Knowledgeable staff. Free charred edamame on your first visit. Really good happy hour specials. We will definitely be returning.
kuriya aka the cherrity bar was an amazing place to dine at. i loved every moment. the place has a distinct aesthetic, it felt i was in a video game, more specifically life is strange. anyways!! the food was outstanding. the ramen was giving, everything had so much flavor. i got the tonkatsu ramen because you can't go wrong with that. every ingredient played a significant role into the dish and i love love love. thank you!!
There is a great divide between food and ambiance. They combined Kuriya with Cherrity Bar, I was super confused, repurposed and very mismatched. Parking is available on the other side of the street and walking up to the middle reception area was interesting. Keep in mind, I kept an open mind and expected decent ramen. Soooo, walking up to the outside reception asking if we want to sit inside or outside, opting for inside, they sat as to the left and first available sitting tall table right by the entrance. I'm kind of vertically challenged and did not feel comfortable eating ramen on a high table DX So we were seated and left to fend for ourselves by the host. Looked around a bit and found so much seating areas lower to my level ~ sat down, waited for about 7 minutes and were greeted by our server/waiter. Menu, btw is digital QR. We knew we want to try ramen and went with our usual Tantan Ramen and Tonkatsu, to make sure our opinions remain unbiased. Tan tan ramen was good, better and lighter than the previous place, enjoyed the grilled broccoli, most of all. Same goes with the Tonkatsu, better broth, but the chashu didn't have a great char or color... kinda missing a bit of the umami. It's definitely a better bar/pub/dive seen are a Cherrity bar establishment. I wouldn't opt for the ramen, a little on the pricier side for ramen and it's not really a great ambiance.
First time customers, free edamame delicious service was great very quaint homemade noodles, good sliders flavor, and every bite definitely a new favor fresh sodas, love this place
This place is absolutely delicious. When I arrived at the restaurant, I thought the set up was so cute and trendy. We sat outside even though it was cold, but the heat lamps helped. I arrived late to the party and although there were not many people at the restaurant to begin with, I had to ask for a plate, silverware, and a napkin all on different occasions. If the waiter had remembered that themself and the service weren't so slow even on a slow night, I would've given a 5 star review. Food wise, I would definitely come back. We got the Belly Bao appetizer that resembled a Bao taco on a rock slab; great presentation and flavor. For my entree I got Tonkotsu Ramen and it was also great and not spicy. I couldn't finish it because I got full. I would recommend this place for a fancy night out when you're looking to spend money on an Asian meal.
The house pickles, kimchi, and charred edamame were all so excellent, but the star of the appetizer show was the kushishiitake. The mushrooms were marinated in the most delicious sweet marinade before being breaded, and then skewered paired with a spicy Mayo dipping sauce. Next time I may just order those for a meal. The double miso ramen broth was so flavorful and the ramen portion was larger than a lot of other places in town for a great price. Happy hour was amazing! It allowed us to try so many more menu items for half the price. I'll definitely be back. Service was also excellent, and the place is very cute and cozy!

Came here for a quick late dinner, was very charmed with the setting of the restaurant! The service was quick and everyone was very sweet, the food was so yummy, though the miso ramen did seem a tad too salty. We also loved the edamame and the grilled mushrooms as a starter. read more

Met up with some coworkers for dinner and to take advantage of the market at the cherrity bar was having that night. You do have to be seated by a hostess if you want to have food. We were treated to the charred edamame to start with. Everybody loved the flavor. It was definitely a great alternative to just salt. For my meal I had the vegetable tofu. It came with large chunks of mushroom. It also had half a hard-boiled egg. The broth was tasty. It was definitely a good serving size. The restaurant is located at the cherrity bar. Parking is available across the street or street parking. Our waitress was very nice and explained the concept of the cherrity bars monthly sponsored charities. read more

I came for a bowl of hot ramen in Kuriya but was sat at the bar in Cherry Bar. I was confused at first but hey, as long as I get to eat ramen, I don't care. I ordered a pickle sampler, which was so good to have with tonkotsu ramen. I highly recommend this combo together. The ramen itself was just average but together with the pickle, it was better. Also, I recommend getting the spicy sauce to add to the ramen. I was given charred edamame for free. It was the best edamame I ever had. Very flavorful. I love it! I wish I can get this charred edamame at home. read more

Rating ramen. To vegetarian/vegan interested in trying their veg ramen/tofu. Broth is heavy on clove/cinnamon I can't tell what spice but it's too strong for me personally. Mushrooms are cut into huge, thick slices. Was not a fan of the cut. It was another layer of the soup that was throwing off my senses. Theres "skin" around the tofu. Texture of skin is very unpleasant once submerged in the broth. Became gelatinous. (Pic) Wouldnt recommend at all. Different textures/flavors felt imbalanced. If you are vegan, better is ramen from piranha or noodle tree. read more
So my niece wanted ramen and the ramen here looked pretty decent in the pictures and there arent much ramen places around. Got there and was able to be seated within 5 minutes whike thry set up the table to accommodate our slightly larger party of 7. First to not that they specify that they make Japanese inspired cuisine ans they use locally source ingredients. Sounds good and they do have a choice where proceeds go to a charity of their choice. The recent one was for pitbulls. A charity near and dear to my heart. Basic food and selection. Goyza, kaarage, chicken teriyaki, pickle veggies platter, char siu don anf Most of us got the tonkatsu ramen. They also gave us complimentary edamame on the house cause it was our first time. Woohoo. The spicy sauce was extra but we got that to try. All the apps were ok nothing to write home about but the kaarage were soggy and no crunch and it was in a pulk of oil :( the gyoza had a crunch skirt but the gyoza it was ok. I got to say that the tonkatsu ramen was very flavorful but it was quite salty. The noodles were chewy and a good texture and the char siu was decent. And as I'm writing this it went from 3 stars to three stars because it was really salty. Also it should be noted that if we wanted to make the tonkatsu spicy or add spicy to it that it would be an additional 1.00 it's not much but neither was the amount that we got. The char siu don was ok according to my nephew but I think it was only ok because there was a ginger mixture to it and it just wasn't what he wanted. read more

The food was fantastic. The service was excellent. We ordered a lot of apps, and had some ramen. We ate skewered breaded shiitake mushrooms with a spicy mayo. We ate tebasaki which is twice fried whole chicken wings with a sweet and spicy glaze. We got a oyster mushroom dish with a soy sauce glaze. We snagged a side of kimchi. We both got a tonkotsu ramen. Everything was fantastic. The oyster mushroom appetizer wasn't my favorite, but that's my opinion. The cherrity bar is attached to this location. I would highly recommend reservations. We waited a half an hour. I would wait again, it was that good! read more

After five years of not seeing each other, my good friend from grade school and I decided to reconnect after graduating form our respective universities over a nice bowl of ramen. She had been wanting to try this place and I absolutely adore ramen so it was a perfect plan. We shared the yaki gyoza, I ordered the tonkotsu ramen, and we both drank painkillers. The yaki gyoza was marinated and fried perfectly. I love pork, cabbage, and green onion so this was the perfect appetizer. The broth for my ramen was hearty, delicious, and is so far my favorite ramen here because of the depth of flavor it holds. Definitely the perfect spot for a winter bowl of ramen! read more

This whole experience was fantastic! Desiree was a great waitress! My friend and I were stopping on by for a quick bite. I ordered everything she recommended; Tebasaki and Kushishiitake. I loved the Tebasaki. It was honestly soooo good. The wings were amazing. Good spice level and the meat was very fall off the bone. I'm not a mushroom fan but my waitress recommended I at least try it which I love that she did that. I'm still not a fan of mushrooms, but the breading was solid. Flavorful and all. Lastly, she gave us edamame on the house. It was super good. Thank you Desiree! Compliments to the chef! read more

We had just made it to the end of happy hour with only 15 min left, so we ordered a bunch of apps. The wings were smoky and sticky. The pork belly baos were succulent with soft buns. Although my colleague enjoyed the sliders, I felt that they were a bit soggy. The gyozas were only ok, because they used the ribs of the kimchi, which was hard and difficult to eat. They should have chopped up the kimchi before wrapping them. The menu was quite fusion with Chinese, Japanese and Korean influence. They had an assortment of craft beer and a full bar. Our server, Abbie, was nice and made some good reco's. If you have time, they have ping pong tables, an arcade in a shipping container, and a quiet place to do some yoga. read more

The service was phenomenal when I came in on a Tuesday afternoon (11:30) as I was one of the only ones there haha. The waitress was so cheery and welcoming!! It was my first time there and they offer free edamame with the order. I ordered the ground pork ramen per recommendation of the waitress. I liked the broth which was savory and the grilled corn! I also ordered an extra side of the pork shoulder, which was about 3 small pieces for $3 more. Unfortunately it was very chewy and not good. Additionally ordered the side of the spicy sauce which added another level of flavor to my soup. My total came out to $28 w/ tip!! The place is so hipster and trendy! The decor and music made the place very welcoming. Their bar is opened to the outdoors on side. The mission of this place is amazing- all profits go to charity! Which the customers get to vote on. There's a huge parking lot across the venue that you can park at too. Would definitely like to come again. read more
