I had never heard of this spot but I'm glad my friend put it as a location on our food tour! Located closer to the top of Greenwich Avenue, the inside is pretty spacious and has an ample amount of seating. It gave me a vibe similar to The Taco Project where you order at the counter. I am always down for some tacos! I did decline a margarita but since I was driving, though the frozen watermelon one my friend ordered looked refreshing. What use to be my favorite Sunday burrito spot with my mom has plummeted. 3$ price hikes on burritos, food quality and quantity reduction, and now they're just neglecting to give me the food I've paid for (not the first time either). Ordered the taco Tuesday special, they didn't put the chips and guac in the order and didnt put the 4$ jarritos in too, but the completely dry carne and pollo asado tacos made it in the bag. The only thing I can complement were the rice & beans. I ordered delivery as I'm fresh out of the hospital and can't drive. I spoke to an employee who offered store credit, which doesn't solve my current missing food and drink. Bright, yellow walls with pink flowers decorate this place in Greenwich. There's happy music in Spanish playing (maybe a little loud) and you order at the counter then they bring you your food. I tried the fish tacos and they were very good. Batter wasn't greasy, the fish was flaky and light and the red cabbage was a wonderful complement to the fish and sauce. A laid back neighbor taqueria on Greenwich Ave. You order, pay, get your number, and they bring you your food. It's that easy. The Margarita with a Tajin rim was refreshing. We ordered the chips and salsa - the chips were freshly fried and the salsa had a slight smokiness to it. I really liked the food here! Took a quick day trip to Connecticut and found this place walking up Greenwich avenue. The chicken burrito was flavorful. You can taste the grill of the chicken which gives the burrito a really great flavor! The shrimps from the shrimp tacos were similarly grilled to perfection. Chicken quesadilla looked like mini tacos but had good flavor as well! The tortilla are half moon shaped tortilla so they are larger than your typical triangle chip. I got them warm and lightly salted. Great flavor on the chips too!! The food took around 7-10 minutes to make but everything is made fresh! We came here in a group after doing some holiday gift returns (two days after Christmas). We needed a break. I'm so glad we did! We ordered a few guacamole and chips (the chips deeply fried and heavily salted and delicious), tortilla soup (light and filled with chicken), enchiladas, and lots of tacos. Everything was great. And no one left feeling overly stuffed. The food was light and pretty. It's casual, you order and pay at the counter and take a number to your table. What's more is that the tacos are generously filled so you don't have to order a tray of 9 tacos to feel satiated like you do at bodega or bar taco. Flavor profile was very good. Chicken enchiladas were good, generous amount. I think the 4 stars is just the order process and then finding a table which can be stressful. Clean bathroom and friendly service. The restaurant is located on the Greenwich Avenue strip with street parking. The restaurant was small but very clean and had a bar. The lady at the register was very nice and the service was great. We ordered the pork belly taco, the steak taco, and the short rib taco. The steak was super tender and perfectly seasoned. The short rib was super tender and dripping with flavor. I notice at other taco joints the tortilla falls apart, but the tortillas at La Taqueria were very durable. Each taco was very generously topped with meat and toppings. The salsa that accompanied the tacos was spicy, zesty, and overall perfectly balanced. To be honest, these tacos were probably the best I have ever had. The tacos were $5+ dollars a pop, but hey it's Greenwich. 2 tacos is more than enough to satisfy you given the generous portions, also the quality of the meat was outstanding. First of all, let me begin by saying I would come here for the street corn alone. Even when ordered for takeout, the corn isn't over-cooked and still crisp and sweet which is not an easy feat. The tacos are also a class act, our favorites being the crispy fish with a delicious slaw and the shredded chicken with avocado. The guacamole was also on point with fresh chips. Otherwise, you're looking at blue corn tortillas for your tacos. As far as service -- you order, pay, pick up your drink at the bar, take your number to the table and await a server with your food. There are also a few stools by the bar. You might want to come early or at an off hour, the place was full by 1230 Election Day Tuesday. Some small criticisms -- the cashier didn't catch my order of chips and salsa, but I had enough to eat without as thr posole was so generous. This place reminds me of the Greenwich version of Chipotle. The positive news is they look like they make everything fresh and put a lot of effort into it. Always nice to see. The tacos were pretty good especially the veggie one. Sometimes the vegetarian options are an afterthought but not here. The tortilla's tasted homemade and came in a blue corn version as well. I made the mistake of going healthy and ordering the salad. It wasn't the best and had a funky dressing to it. We also had the guacamole and it was pretty solid. Looks like they make it in advance and not to order but I guess with their volume that would be tough. The chips also tasted homemade and had a great crunch to them. Visiting Connecticut from Miami and stumbled upon this place. At first, we were hesitant because we wanted something a little less casual and instead wanted a nice sit down experience. However, after deciding we wanted Tacos we stayed and were very impressed. The menu is small, just a variety of tacos (around the $3.50-$5 each range) A few traditional appetizers like chips and salsa, street corn, etc. and a salad bowl option and a chefs bowl option. I ended up ordering chips and guacamole, chicken tacos, crispy fish tacos, carnitas tacos, and a chefs salad plate. The tacos are well prepared and very simple in flavor, nothing too fancy or crazy. Just good fresh meat with a few seasonings and onions that create a very simple but delicious taco. The guacamole was fresh and the chips were crispy. The chefs plate (with chicken, rice, beans, salad, and guac) was a good but a little small spread of flavors that was well plated. Overall the food and presentation was not what I expected when I first walked into such a casual (but still pretty) establishment. But the food was well above average for the price and the service was great. Very pleased we found this gem to make our trip even more memorable. Ps. MEH. I grabbed a carnitas taco for lunch today. It came with a floppy lime wedge which was cut too skinny to squeeze. The taco itself was a tad too thick and chewy. Good amount of filling, but it didn't really taste like much. As others have said, I agree the flavors here are toned down.
