I really wanted tacos. Like bad. This is probably due to my brain associating hearing the Spanish language with Mexico. And Mexico with tacos. But after a few days in Spain I just had to have a taco. But despite the good reviews. La Taqueria just wasn't very good. If I could try to pinpoint why, I'd said it was the tortillas. My best guess is that they used pre-made tortillas and then tried to fry them back into shape using some hot oil on the griddle. But the tortillas weren't very good to begin with in the first place, and the oil that they used had a weird taste that was very un-Mexican. Maybe the oil is popular in Spain, but it detracted from the taste of the food to the point where it was disappointing. If there was a bright spot, their mezcal was really good. The waiter recommended some and it was a bit herbaceous and complex. So if you're here, get some mezcal and call it a day. Leave the tacos for somewhere else. read more

Coming from California, where there are PLENTY of Authentic Mexican Restaurants, and being Mexican myself I can honestly say these tacos were really good. I did not like the salsa because I'm used to a spicier sauce but overall I would recommend for anyone craving Mexican food or just simply wanting to try it out...it's worth it! Easily the best authentic mexican food I've had in Spain. That's not saying much though, so I'll go ahead & say that their tacos al pastor are easily in my top 5 worldwide (keep in mind that I'm from California & visit Mexico often)! Since moving to Barcelona, I've been missing flavorful meat and spicy salsas & La Taqueria has filled that hole in my life. The atmosphere inside is very cool with good music, and the staff is SUPER friendly. My only gripe is that you have to order 4 of the same type of taco, no mixing & matching... & it's a bit pricey (a little less than 10€ for 4 tacos and a soda) but don't get me wrong, that's totally not going to stop me from coming back here 3-4 times per week. I'll gladly pay Spanish prices for this amazing Mexican food. EDIT: Don't try coming on a weekend night without a reservation. Some of the best Mexican food I've had in Europe! Fantastic pastor tacos, great guacamole, and really cool atmosphere! I was very lucky to walk in and get a table. It looked empty but I was told that in an hour (8:30pm) all of the tables were reserved, but I was still able to order and was served quickly and out well before then. The guacamole was smooth and delicious. I actually prefer guacamole to be chunky, but it was certainly still great, and perfect for anyone who prefers it smooth. The four 'pastor tacos' were fantastic as well. The small slice of pineapple on each taco gave it the perfect hint of sweet. They were served with two types of salsas and limes, for you to add to the tacos as you please. They also tasted great with a little guacamole added. (We stopped here for lunch after touring Sangrada Familia). It's a small, brightly decorated restaurant with friendly (and English speaking) staff. The menu is in English as well. The tacos were delicious! Food is served in smaller portion sizes (than compared to US mexican restaurants, but was a sufficient amount of food). We had the guacamole for starters (shared with 3 people) and each ordered tacos (pastor and chicken). Both tacos were excellent and the guac was tasty too! As tourists with an agenda and schedule we specifically planned to come here on the only day that we could, however, they closed earlier than advertised with no hours posted or notice of early closure. We ordered the chicken tacos for my son, the arrachera especial and the cucarito tacos for myself. My tacos were supposed to be spicy, so I was warned, but I'd say they were mild at best.
