I've been to La Taqueria 3 times now and I will not be returning. I really enjoyed the food but learned some upsetting news about the management recently. The manager had always been unfriendly when I attended the restaurant but my friends and I assumed he was just a quieter person. My friend and I ran into a waiter that had served us a couple of times before and told us that he had been fired. We were shocked because he had been a great waiter and were appalled to learn that management had fired him because he served an African American man when the manager told him to deny the man service. My friends and I simply cannot support an institution that treats human beings in this way. Extremely disappointing and I highly recommend the management be replaced as soon as possible. read more

Drink was very sweet and premade as I watched the guy pour it from a premade tank. I literally only had two sips and I asked if I could get something else instead. The guy told me no but he could try and give me more tequila or more lemon to fix it. It may not be the custom here to swap put a drink so I understand this and he did offer to fix it which I declined because of the amount of sugar in this drink nothing would have fixed it. Huge disappointment!... My friend kept telling me how good this place is, and after La Coronela closed about two years ago we have not had decent Mexican food in Barcelona. So this place is small and you need a reservation. The place was so obnoxiously loud that I had to go outside and wait for my food. I could not bare to be inside with the loud chatter, and I measured the decibels on my iPhone. It got up to 101, which causes damage to the ears after 15 minutes of exposure... I will let you (the reader) look at a common decibel chart. The food took FOOOREVER to arrive! Tacos al pastor took 35 minutes to get to my table after I ordered. The tortillas were dried out and crumbled a bit, yes crumbled (yuck). The nopales were okay. Honestly, I thought it was just mediocre at best. But hey, I lived in Mexico City so I am picky. I prefer the place next door called "La Cantinita" (or something like that). But I really wish La Coronela would make a come back :-( read more

Was nearly empty when we arrived at 6. The tacos (chicken and beef) were good, although they leaned more in the direction of authentic and simple, and the beef taco was a tad underseasoned for my palate. One of the only places that prices Coke reasonably, which I appreciated. It's down an alley, but don't expect budget prices. They'll charge an extra euro per 4 taco plate for cheese which seems high. Our order was €19 for 2 taco orders and 1 Coke. If you're used to tapas prices, that's steep. Still a good option if you're in the Sagrada Familia neighborhood, though. read more

Went here during the off season in Barcelona so we were able to get a table without a reservation, but this tiny place was very cramped. The food was amazing, with little wait time, and real authentic Mexican flavor and preparation, just like at home in Southern CA. We had - margaritas and mojitos that were very good, the mojito with real mescal instead of tequila like Cuban mojitos. The mescal adds a smoky aftertaste that set the drink apart from anything I've had before. tacos, beef and chicken, with cheese - come with cilantro and onions, salsas on the side. both were equally amazing. tortilla soup - much more interesting flavor than most tortilla soups, simple but delicious The waiters were chatty and the atmosphere, again, very authentic to Mexico. It did take us a while to find though, it's tucked into one of the alleys a block down from the Sagrada Familia and we walked past it a few times. The portions are small but the prices are fair. If you are a tourist, don't go here even if you're really excited about tacos unless you know Spanish quite well. It took about 25 minutes before the server initiated any interaction with me, took about 20 minutes to bring me my drink, food came out at a decent time, but it sucks being somewhere, where the server asks what you want then asks people after you and they get their drinks right away. I was excited about going to this place and although the pastor tacos were good, the service wasn't redeeming enough for me to want to recommend this place. My margarita tasted like there was absolutely no tequila. It tasted like sugary limeaid. After I ate my food, I went to the restroom to find out my drink had been cleared and people had been sat down at my table. Overall, just a bad experience. Will never return to this place. read more

My wife and I went here two nights during our honeymoon trip to Barcelona, and we absolutely loved it. We live in California, so we have our fair share of Mexican food, but La Taqueria is one of the best we've ever had! The guacamole was delicious, salsa selection was superb, and the tacos were amazing. My personal favorite was the beef taco, which was extremely well seasoned and cooked to perfection. The restaurant is very close to the Sagrada Famelia, so it's definitely a must see when you're in Barcelona. We miss it already! read more

We closed off the night here after a visit to La Sagrada Familia. Excellent drinks which were well needed after my friend took the bowl of super hot salsa as a personal challenge. Great hole in the wall. Took our two small kids here and while it's quite small, it was perfect for them and the parents. Amazingly authentic Mexican food if you're looking to escape the traditional Spanish tapas. They made cheese quesadillas for the kids, and I'll say the beef tacos were simple yet awesome. Parents had Margs (the wife liked guava the best) and I had a Pacifico to top things off. It was the coldest beer I've had in weeks.
