We loved the small town, local feel to La Strada. You sit down and can tell a lot of locals were regulars and knew the servers well. As nice as the service was, we were not impressed with the food. This restaurant was recommended to us, so we had high hopes. We ordered the fried calamari, some sort of scallop appetizer special, manicotti, bolognese, and tiramisu, all with little to no taste to them. Everything looked fine presentation-wise, but had zero seasoning or flavor to them. The portion sizes were generous and fair, but that doesn't really matter when you're not enjoying the food. The staff is friendly and attentive, the management (owner Janni, his son Nikko, and Sarah) likewise, and the food is consistently delicious. We have eaten at the restaurant many times - always good. This review is for a catering job. They were amazing! We ordered four different trays and the process was so easy. The owner and his son worked with us to select the right meals that serve well from a tray. They provided the tray racks and the sterno cans to keep them warm without charge. The food was delicious, the food was ready on time (hot), and all our worries about catering our party were for nothing. Very professional wait staff, owner, bartender, etc. Not the best environment for babies or young toddlers who may like to roam around, as it is charming, but rather small inside. This is a lovely little neighborhood Italian restaurant. We loved all the people that worked here. They had wonderful service which to me is one of the hardest things to find in a restaurant! They excel at quite a few different things. Unfortunately, the wife and I just didn't really like the food we tried. We got a couple of appetizers including stuffed mushrooms, calamari, and one other I can't even recall and then both got an entree. I am sure what I am about to say is in no way how the restaurant operates, but it's just a comparison and what my wife and I thought. For the food, we just thought it was on the same level of the types of items you get in the grocery store freezer section and heat up in your microwave. It's not that the food is bad because people wouldn't buy those meals if they were. It's just that they are of a very low standard, a standard which we want exceeded when we go to a restaurant. We didn't think we found that here. Usually, I give a restaurant multiple tries to make a determination, especially when nothing about the experience is "bad", but this one just fell so far below what we wanted that we don't have plans to return. read more

My wife and I thought we would try this place out. I ordered a Grilled chicken salad for $16.95 and my wife ordered Shrimp and Scallops for 21.95. Prices are too high. The wine pour is a 5oz pour and $10....not a positive in my book. BUT....the big negative with us was that the place is like a fan factory showroom. A friend invited us to La Strada for dinner because she loves it. I'm so glad she did! Unfortunately a place like La Strada wouldn't probably show up on a general search for restaurants. It doesn't have many reviews or pictures, and the pictures that are available don't showcase much at all, so I probably would have skipped over it anyway if it did come up. My judgement of these factors has changed. La Strada was wonderful! You walk in and are instantly greeted by people who genuinely look happy to have you there. The restaurant is older and charming looking. All the staff is so friendly and professional. The food is wonderful! The chicken Marsala is the best chicken Marsala I've ever had. My wife even liked it and she doesn't like mushrooms at all. The chicken parmigiano is great. The bruschetta is non traditional, but still good. At first I felt the prices were a bit high, but the dishes come with a salad and are just prepared with so much pride and love and are worth it! You could tell the staff remembers people and their orders and treats them like family. It's very impressive. We would certainly come back! read more

After a full day we ordered a late dinner around 8pm. So impressed! Our order was ready in 20 min. The staff was super friendly and made several suggestions. We order eggplant parmigiana and the chef specialty pasta trio. The eggplant was amazing, generous portion and a full bodied sauce. I love the pasta trio. The lasagna was my favorite, so meaty and perfect thick layers. Just like grandma used to make. The manicotti was cheesy and so yummy. The Alfredo tortellini was delicious. We ordered a Caesar and house salad. The house salad we both loved, with a great tangy dressing. We will be back again. read more

We hadn't been back since I praised La Strada in my initial review. As with most things, the problem with high expectations is that they're often not met. Last night's dinner was okay, but nothing so knock-your-socks-off wonderful that I'd hurry back. Chicken saltimbocca -- a dish I get in most northern Italian restaurants -- was lacking. The others at my table ate their meals, but nobody oohed and ahed over their selections. Though, to the chef's credit, all the lasagna and marsala was wiped clean from their plates! With their big following, management might consider expansion. On Saturday night the place was packed. And when I say packed, I mean one table on top of another, with a noise level higher than what I prefer when I go out with friends. One can still get a nice bottle of wine for $26 -- this time chianti -- and the garlic bread and tapenade is tasty. I do like when one gets unlimited salad with more interesting components than romaine, but okay -- I can live with the plated portion, and the blue cheese crumbles are a nice touch. Again, not a bad meal -- just wouldn't win a cook-off if pitted against other Italian eateries. read more

We had a great meal here on a Friday night. I heard the place was small so I made reservations. It's small inside with a bar. We had a booth and it was very comfortable. I love these small family Italian restaurants. Very cozy. Good wine list. Everything was very delicious. I had chicken piccata it was a generous portion and cooked perfectly. I had the white bean soup and that also was very good. Others at my table had chicken Alfredo and pasta with the bolognaise sauce. You have a choice of soup, or two kinds of salad. My wife and I just got takeout from here and I really have to compliment them on the order accuracy along with the quality of the food. There were a number of modifications to each dish and every one was perfect. It seems so hard today for places to get delivery orders correct even without modifications that when there are multiple modifications it would normally be a lost cause. On to the food. I had the pasta with shrimp and portobello mushrooms with a vodka cream sauce. The dish was wonderful. I wish I counted the shrimp because there were so much more than the normal 6 shrimp you get on most entrees. The shrimp were large , had the tails removed and were cooked perfectly. I would order this again gladly. The sauce was wonderful to dip your bread into. My wife had the pasta with shrimp and scallops. This had a white wine and garlic sauce. She had at least 6 each of the shrimp and 6 of the scallops. Those were all cooked perfectly. The sauce is also great for dipping your bread into. For dessert we had the zuppa inglese which is there rif on an English trifle. Bottom line is it's a really good light chocolate mouse with a little chunk of cake. It's really good if you like mousse. This is one of our favorite places and has been for years. The quality has remained consistent and the managers and servers have been friendly and accommodating to special requests. read more

For New Years Eve, we decided to have a dinner at a nice Italian restaurant. We needed to pick a place that was convenient for all of us (3 other couples), and that place turned out to be La Strada in Marietta. Well what a delicious meal we all had! I had the "Shrimp & Portobello" (fresh shrimp and portobello mushrooms in a vodka tomato cream sauce, with tortiglioni, I think the pasta was) which was just delicious. The pasta was absolutely perfect (how do they do that?) The vodka tomato cream sauce was just thick enough. The shrimp were large and very tasty and the portobello (pieces) were simply superb. My wife had the "Zoupa di Pesce Marinara" which she enjoyed immensely. Delicious and plentiful garlic bread was supplied to us by Gracie, our attentive and very pleasant waitress. The restaurant is on the small side but laid out in such a way that one does not feel crowded or packed in. I need to train myself to be more attentive to décor and such for these reviews, but I remember feeling very at home among tasteful furnishings. Cheap? No, but I would say reasonable, even now that restaurant prices seem to have risen by at least a third from the pre-pandemic numbers. We will definitely return to La Strada. read more

Wish I could say that this old favorite has held its charm, but unfortunately its appeal has faded. We used to be regulars here, but moved on to restaurants closer to home. Decided to visit again for old times sake recently and were disappointed. The lasagna was poorly constructed, my shrimp and scallop linguine special was over-dressed and unappealing and my niece's veal Marsala was inedible . . . All who tried it pronounced it heavily tasting of maple syrup. When our server was apprised of this, she expressed surprise but did not comp anything, even the dessert my niece ordered in an attempt to find something to fill her up. So sad to report this since this was a family favorite for years but we won't be making any more sentimental visits. read more

Meh... I've experienced better. Yeah. That sums it up. Looking for a restaurant in East Cobb near the intersection of Johnson Ferry and Shallowford we found Lastrada. The billboard outside proclaimed, "Kids Night" and lucky us... we had kids. This means you get free stuff for the kids however, when you look at the menu for 'bambinos' the fare range from some gratuitous spaghetti dishes to a hot dog to chicken fingers for 4 bucks apiece. Moving on to the adult fare I order the stuffed chicken which consisted of two chicken breasts with a piece of mozzarella melted over the top. What was it stuffed with? I cannot be sure except I suspect that it wasn't stuffed at all. Below expectations. The other dish we ordered was cheese ravioli which was a little al dente. Not cooked all the way through. The other dish we ordered was one of the specials of the night and was a scallop and salmon pasta dish that did have a good flavor except that it was overloaded with oil. The wait staff was professional although as the night became busier, we felt more ignored. I do not cast any blame for this except for we did have that experience where we ordered before two other tables only to watch them get served before us. A bummer especially when you have kids. Gotta hate that... Lastly, the bill for this place was way more than I was happy to pay given the quality of the food I was served. It just seemed to me that the skill level for the dishes we ordered was way too little for what we were charged. For good Italian, try someplace else. read more

The stuffed veal is a must if you are hungry! My favorite "special" has been the grey sole piccata or the pan-seared skate wing... My youngest daughter (14) has loved the place all of her life and requests it for EVERY special occasion. Her go-to is the lamb Osso Buco ... shes called it Awsome Bucco her whole life. We stopped in last Tuesday for a regular priced meal, which many places didn't have the day before Valentine's Day. My wife ordered Stuffed Chicken Parmesan and I had Salmon La Strada. We both had the house salad and mixed vegetables. Complimentary warm garlic bread was served promptly, along with an olive spread. Everything was prepared well, therefore was tasty.
