Doughy and charred
Michelle D.

On the plus side, the toppings were plentiful and fresh and the price point was solid for a gluten-free. I'm not sure how a crust can be undercooked & mushy while also being charred on the bottom. It was doughy and pastey to the point that I ate just the toppings but the kids ate the crust. It heated a tad better in a pan the next day to get the consistency desired, but not one that I will go back for. The lettuce in the salad was not chopped, just had slits in it where the attempt was made, so there was a little reconstructing that was needed before serving. Again, the pizza review is only for the gluten-free pizza, so keep that in mind with the criticality of the review.

Half pepperoni, half pineapple pizza

We ordered a pizza and it was very tasty and was made fresh. We been back many times since. Great local spot and staff is very nice. Great spot to watch a game.

Covid-19 Update Happy to report that staff wear masks, seating is available outside, and indoor tables are off limits for the time being. As far as the pizza ..... three stars. People tend to like what they grew up with. My husband who's from Smyrna, GA would consider this NY pizza. I would disagree. The crust is thicker than what I know from Brooklyn. This lacks the telltale floppy fold when held, and let's not forget the grease -- yeah! that's a good thing -- which'll slide off when you hold the pointed end down. Cheese? Our pizza could've used a bit more. With our $2 coupon, we paid $16.27 for a large pie. My three star designation connotes decent pizza, but not the best.

Calzone ($6.50) add Mushrooms and Pepperoni ($1.25 each)

I'm our search for a pizza place near our home, Rosa's is becoming a front runner. We have ordered here twice already - once for takeout and once through Uber eats. We ordered the exact same thing both times and were equally pleased both times. The prices were slightly higher through Uber Eats which happens - below are the takeout prices. We had the following: Calzone ($6.50) add Mushrooms & Pepperoni ($1.25 each) Large Hawaiian Pizza ($18.75) This is really solid pizza. We ordered it well done and it was cooked perfectly. The entire slice held up nicely and there is a generous amount of ham and pineapple. The crust is on the thicker side - probably one of the only reasons this isn't my absolute fave. I like a thin crisp crust and this one is much more dense than other NY style pizza I've had. Getting well done helps - but doesn't quite make up for the thickness. Of the various pizza places we have tried in the area Rosa's is still at the top! The calzone was awesome. It was not really cooked enough when we got it home so we popped it in the air fryer to finish cooking and give it some color. The flavor was so good though we didn't mind having to continue cooking it at home. The second time we ordered it, the cook was a little better but we still ended up browning it a bit more. We will absolutely return to Rosa's - and you should give them a try, too!

Pizza was ok but they gave me the wrong order. Next time I'll need to open the box before taking it home. It was a disappointment.

I tried their pepperoni slices and this was some of the best pizza. The crust was the perfect amount of thinness and crispness.

Hero flavors in every dish on my visit on a cold, but sunny, Tuesday in mid-March just after 5PM…read more The covered patio area was empty but staged for the impending nice weather while inside there were about 20 two-seater tables (some pushed together and in use by larger parties) as well as a bar. Over the bar was a large screen TV showing beautiful scenes of Italy, with contemporary Italian pop playing in the background. I started with the soup of the day, which was lobster bisque that was so full of lobster that I would call it a stew versus a soup. The complimentary bread was slightly toasted and topped with aromatic herbs that paired perfectly with the olive oil with which it was served. My entree was a special, and was the short rib. There was nothing "short" about it as the huge beef rib had a bone that overhung the plate that a caveman would be proud to own. The beef was fork tender and the steak knife provided with it wasn't necessary. It was paired with a delicious and sweet wine sauce. And the side was tender gnocchi (al tartufo) in a rich and creamy sauce flavored with truffle. Since they also have Risotto al Tartufo on the menu, that will definitely be on my list for my next visit. And I definitely want to bring my wife to that next visit because the flavor and food were so wonderful, it's a great place for a date night.

It was chilly went we visited, but on a nice day, the patio would be nice too. We ordered and were not in any kind of hurry. Probably a good thing, since the kitchen seemed to be very backed up and the food came out very slowly. The servers also seemed to be a little overwhelmed, so I'm wondering if the crowd was heavier than expected. Please don't take this as complaint - the service staff were very friendly and did their best to keep diners smiling. Unfortunately - the food was a little underwhelming. We ordered calamari - it was slightly over cooked and chewy. For dinner, we had the gnocchi and chicken saltimbocca. The safe in the chicken dish was overpowering (I ended up having to scrape it off) and the chicken was overcooked. It says a lot that my favorite thing on the plate was the sautéed spinach (which was delicious!). I really, really wanted to love this place, but I'm not sure I would visit again. There are too many places in this area that have much better food for the same price point.

I thought I had already left a scathing review after my experience, but for some reason, I did not. I don't remember what I ordered the one and only time my husband and I ate at this restaurant, but I do remember that it was inedible, so I sent it back, and ordered something else. Later, when the bill arrived, I saw they had charged me for half of my first meal. So I flagged the server about it, and they were like "well you ate half of it " and I explained I had taken 2-3 bites, the later ones simply to make sure I did indeed dislike it, and then my husband had a bite to confirm I wasn't tripping and that it was in fact terrible. 3-4 bites was NOT half the meal. It wasn't even a quarter. When I tried to push back on that, I was told "well, we know what our portion sizes look like, and half the meat was missing." The crazy part about this is that they seemed to truly believe I had gotten double the meat portion they had actually put in front of me. It was enraging. We paid and vowed to never return. I have told anyone who would listen about the time a restaurant refused to comp an entree that sucked because they accused me of l y i n g about how much of the meal I had consumed. The crazy part is that my husband and I would have returned to try this place again had the staff just believed me from the jump that I wasn't trying to pull a fast one. I normally am never happy about a restaurant closing, but Piastra? Good riddance.

The overwhelming flavor came from the dried Calabrian chiles, which had not been reconstituted properly into the sauce, so it also left me wondering whether the gritty bites came from that or if the clams & mussels had been cleaned properly. Regardless, the sauce lacked depth. The fresh pasta clung together in clumps, an indication that the chef had not mixed it diligently during the cooking process, but from a visual perspective, it looked to be on point. I must confess, the lamb carpaccio is one of the most distinct, unique dishes that I have tasted in quite a while; as a caveat to that, it is a bold flavor profile, so if you prefer a neutral, familiar red meat such as beef, proceed with caution and an open mind. My wife had the lobster and cavatelli, which was by far the most fully developed dish of all, creamy savory richness coating slightly dense bites of pasta, reminiscent of gnocchi, and the lobster was definitely present, which is the exception rather than the rule with most creamy dishes advertised to contain lobster. Our server was attentive, professional, polite, personable & well spoken. I can't say that I have any critiques in that area. Though she did not introduce herself, I presume she was the owner, came by to ensure that our meal was more than satisfactory. Even the lady tending to our drinks revisited the table with diligence. The inside has a very open floor plan, although it could probably have a layout redesign so that some tables don't make some patrons feel as though they are in the way. The decor is a blend of industrial chic with modern, local art lining the walls, most pieces being slightly above average amateur status. They have a private dining area dedicated to larger parties if you plan ahead and give them notice. There seemed to only be one lavatory for the whole restaurant, but it's possible that I didn't look long enough. All in all, a nice place for Italian food if you want to break free from the typical American-Italian offerings. Our meal was $130 for two entrees, two glasses of wine, an appetizer and a desert, with tip included. I'd say that's about on par with just about every other restaurant that doesn't have a drive thru. Buon appetito & mangia!

Free small parking lot in front. Free extra parking across the street. The total was about $150 for 2 appetizers, 2 entrees, 2 drinks, and a dessert. Pros The quiet, intimate, and classy atmosphere was exactly what I needed for my family. When we first arrived, our table was not ready and we had to wait outside. However we were given continuous updates on when the table would be ready, they apologized, and they were very understanding. Considering we were a large party in an intimate space, we understood and only waited about 20 minutes before the table was ready. You could tell the food was fresh, the orders came fast, and the service was amazing. The fresh in house pasta took everything to the next level. It was the perfect night out. Cons The establishment is intimate so I do not think it would ideal for extra large parties. I had a party of 8 at 8PM but I dont know if they could have accomodated us if it was any earlier during prime dinner time. I wish they had a better parking situation but its not bad and its free.
