Lasagna pizza

My spinach artichoke pizza was really delicious. The crust was yummy. Could've definitely used more tomatoes, but I would get it again. My wife got the lasagna pizza and it's her favorite pizza in town. She gets it every time. Delish Four stars instead of five because the middle of the pizza needs to be crispier

Take of two orders. One is a 5 star experience. The second is 2/3 stars. Walked in around 2pm on a Friday. By myself. Wanted a slice and a comfy place to sit and relax. Menu is on the wall, order at the counter. The woman, short hair, that helped me first picked up on that it was my first time there. One size pizzas. Salads. Beer/ wine/ sodas. Gelato and coffee options. She was warm, inviting, engaging. Asked for her recommendation. Ordered a popular meat pie and a cold red table wine. Soooooooo satisfying. Enjoyed the pizza immensely. (Of this pie is not commercial. You cannot compare the two.) Thin, great elasticity, crunch, pizza oven char taste. Sauce. Perfect ration. You can go too far. They don't. Toppings. Top notch. Still daydreaming about the sausage. Cute spot. Good food. There I was, happy. Then comes the second order. Ordered a veggie pie and pint of gelato, to go. Young man, baseball cap, Roman numeral tattoos.... Walked up to the counter. Asked to help me and preceded to.... How to phrase this. Not make eye contact, speak low, seem completely disinterested in my presence. Took me by surprise. He gave me my food and scooped my gelato a few minutes later. Was a little more responsive. I try to give people the benefit of the doubt. Is he having a bad day? Is he shy? Did he just stub his toe? The fact is that a lot of recent posts mention the lack of customer service. I got both ends of the spectrum in one visit. Honestly. I'll walk in again. If I see her, I'm in for a meal. Him? I may choose another place. Served for 15 years. Every interaction is important.

To-go Diavolo and Pizza Ala Waikiki

Pizza is so good. Top tier. I have been more than probably 10 times. It's my go to pizza place in Georgia. I always get the Diavolo and ordering it To-go is just as good as in house. I also recommend the Zeppolis with Powdered Sugar.(My cat in picture approves as well)

Gelato

On Saturday evening Ackworth was hopping! The street was full and most restaurants had waiting lines. This place was busy, but no line, so we ordered a large salad and a margarita pizza. The salad was huge and filled with lots of veg and ham and salami. The large salad was enough for three. The pizza however was bland and undercooked, with a swathe of tomato paste, a few very small dots of cheese and several large leaves of basil tossed about. Gelatos seemed to be the top selling item and the large variety of flavors looked delicious. No question, the salad was tasty, but frankly, The pizza was regrettable.

On the inside it's a quaint dining area with a parlor style, very simple chairs and tables. You've got full view of their pizza oven which is engraved with Vesuvio on the front. Sparsely decorated with vintage and photos reminiscent of Napoli Italy. They host Neapolitan style pizza which includes simple and fresh ingredients and a thin crust making it easy to fold a piece of their pies together to prevent spills. There is a small fridge with drinks on the side. You go up to the counter, grab a menu and tell the cashier/hostess what you want and you pay right at the counter. Tipping is optional. We ordered the margherita and porcillina pies. The first had all the expected toppings. I really liked the taste of the fresh mozzarella and they didn't heavily sauce it so it was a delicate balance. Topped with marzano tomatoes and basil was so delicious. The second was topped with Italian sausage and spicy salami. Just a slow heat that wasn't overpowering which I really liked. The crust on both were very evenly cooked, a wonderful blend of chewy and crispy. I also didn't feel like these pies were heavy. They didn't weigh down your stomach afterwards. I was also eyeing their homemade bruschetta which I think I would try next. The prices here were also quite good, no higher than 16 dollars making an affordable night out. The simplicity and freshness of the food makes it worthwhile to visit and try for yourself!

Everything is done properly and stays true to the Neapolitan style. It's also about a five-minute walk from the train station, which makes it a great option if you're short on time and want a reliable, classic pizza without going far. Solid execution, even if it didn't quite stand out compared to some of the top spots in the city.

I've been to the two locations (Acworth and Calhoun) on several occasions, always order the veal parm. It's always fantastic. The veal is very well seasoned and tender enough to cut with a fork. Every single time!! Four stars due to the lack of greeting every time I've been there. Four stars because the servers tell you they'll be right back with something but you have to continuously remind them. Great ambiance in both locations. The cooks in the kitchen move the food very quickly. It is always served hot. Their servers, however, are what's keeping this from being a five-star review. My advice to the servers, especially when you're NOT busy: 1. Greet the customers as we enter. 2. Be friendly other than when you're taking my order. 3. Fulfill your promises timely. 4. Remember, you are in a service role. Your service directly impacts your restaurant's reputation and repeat customers. I'll keep coming back for the food. I will continue to be critical of the service until it improves. I look forward to the day I can give Doro's five stars.
