La Spiga Bakery is the cute neighborhood lunch spot that we all need in our lives. I came in at 10am with a friend and the place was fairly quiet, providing the perfect calm environment for my friend and I to catch up. The staff was patient with us as we went through the menu options and gave us that small town hospitality that I don't expect but am always appreciative of. While ordering, we learned about their various fresh made breads (a few of which were left on each table for sampling), and the different syrups that they offer for the espresso options (although they didn't have honey, I was able to get some pistachio and caramel added to my espresso which gave it a nutty yet sweet touch to it. Additionally, they were flexible about modifying orders! We ordered the veggie sandwich and pepperoni pizza. The veggie sandwich came with mushrooms, broccoli, spinach, tomato, bell peppers... it was packed with a variety of veggies and the vinaigrette gave it a zesty flavor to finish it off! The pepperoni pizza was just as impressive, and uniquely was cooked with pepperoni sandwiched between two layers of cheese. All in all both items we ordered were delicious. This small bakery which offers fresh baked breads, soups, and sandwiches leaves a lot to be desired. The product is good but that does not compensate for a poor experience. There is no comprehensive menu of offerings. There are small labels in different areas (shelves to the right, left and behind the front counter) along with two chalkboards. You have to spend 10 minutes playing eye spy to figure out what they offer. If you're the type that likes to try different things and experiment, it's difficult to know what there is to order. There was even a dome with breads underneath - no labels on any of them to indicate the bread had a filling or not, etc. My husband has really wanted to try a specific bread from here. We have visited numerous times and they are always out of different items. On my most recent visit I didn't see the bread we wanted but I did see a label for basil, garlic, and cheese bread. I asked if they had any and the guy picked up three or four loaves to visually check what they were made with because they were not labeled. When I got home and sliced it, it was a jalapeño cheddar loaf and not basil, garlic, and cheese. Service wasn't great either. When I arrived I waited about 5 minutes for anyone to help me. I love this little place been coming here for years, and now it is less than five minutes from my work. Amazing fresh bread, sandwiches, pasta and salads. Don't be fooled by the outside looking like a warehouse. Their main business is commercial bread that they bake daily, but the café is quaint and cozy. Boy, do I have a REVIEW. I just stumbled across this place on Yelp because I was looking for a quick lunch around my office. I went to the location and IMMEDIATELY, the smell outside is delicious, warm, sweet and inviting. and ordered a sandwich combo that comes with a half sandwich, soup or salad and housemade chips. I brought it back to my office and when I tell y'all... I had an out of body experience as I was eating this combo. I got the turkey and cheese hot sandwich and tomato basil soup. Say what you want about a simple turkey and cheese sandwich... but La Spiga somehow made it a delicacy. The sourdough bread that I got it on was some of the best bread I've ever had. All the ingredients were so fresh and complimented each other seamlessly like the Dallas Symphony during their Summer Music Series. And the SOUP? The perfect dipping soup for my sandwich AND on its own. This tomato basil soup blows every notable competitor I've ever tried in the past out of the WATER. The housemade chips were also fresh and lovely but I spent most of my time on the sandwich and soup. La Spiga Bakery will now be a regular spot for me. I could Spigabout this place all day! Don't be fooled by the name; it's much more than a bakery. Had a phenomenal Penne Pasta with mushroom, ham, and chicken in cream sauce, which was on their lunch menu. The al dente pasta, the soft and silky mushrooms, the tender, juicy, and lemony chicken, and the pleasantly light cream sauce... it was all fantastic. I could barely finish half and was pleased to bring home the other half for dinner. So worth the $10 I paid. Also had a bite of their Pork Tenderloin sandwich and died a little inside. Will be wrought with indecision as to what to order next time I eat here. Also want to point out that they put out so many free samples of their fresh bread with sides of jam and butter. But it's not either unless if you count some few loaves of breads - but even those, I'm not sure if it's Italian. Saw a bunch of croissant, cupcakes, and other things that just tells me they're not really trying to be Italian. Even the people who runs this place are not familiar with Italian offerings, unfortunately. The closest comparison I could make to this place is to La Madeleine since you could eat the unlimited slices and have jam and butter with your order here. But imagine an Italian version of La Madeleine since there's some pasta dishes and none of the French ones, and imagine the place being slightly worse, super small menu, more Americanized (if that's even possible) and more expensive. Ran across this place out wandering today. So glad we found it open on Saturday! Bread was wonderful on both sandwiches! Hubby had ham and cheese toasted with bechemal sauce (daily special) and I had hot roast beef. Both were delicious. The scratch made potato chips were a nice surprise! Only two small things - onions on toast beef were not grilled and ham on hubby's sandwich should have been heated up a bit before the sandwich was toasted. I wouldn't have known about this place if I hadn't stumbled across it on Google Maps a while back. But I'm always on the lookout for a new restaurant to try. It's off the beaten path; it sits near the major streets of Midway and Belt Line (Technically Arapaho is closer than Belt Line, but it's an inaccessible bridge at this point) and doesn't advertise itself in any way that draws attention to itself for the casual passer-by. So far pretty much everything we've had has been terrific. Their meatballs were rich and flavorful, the pasta well-cooked and firm, the sandwiches excellent and filling. My mom had a pizza when we went, and while I generally look at pizza as a means to get a lot of toppings into my mouth, their crust was phenomenal, delicious and crispy. I will give one warning for folks with mobility issues: there's a single short staircase outside with no ramp or other accommodations I could see to get in. They still do curbside and delivery, as other people have noted, and honestly that's what my wife and I will be doing for the foreseeable future until we're properly vaccinated. read more

The salmon over Caesar salad consisted of a 6-8 oz filet over a great romaine salad with No nasty salad bits. It's out of the way--I've lived in this area for over a dozen years and don't think I've even been on its street, let alone known it existed. My one concern is a minor one for myself--honestly, for most potential customers--but if it applies to you it may be a biggie and you should know. There's only one way in, up a short set of stairs. If you've got significant mobility issues I honestly don't know how you'd get in. Pretty sure they'd take your food out to your vehicle, mind. And after 1:30p any breads still there are 30% off (if there is ever anything left). I have not had a bad meal or pastry at this establishment. It's got a casual European street seating feel indoors and is a hidden gem tucked away in the more industrial area behind Addison Airport. It's worth exploring like I did to find it, I got some great office furniture and found some other really cool things back in the industrial areas around La Spiga. It is the best caprese/mozzarella salad in Dallas. The chunks of cheese are on a small bed of greens with balsamic. Their pesto comes on the side and it is to die for. This salad is fresh but extremely filling! Plus, you can't beat homemade desserts and pasties, along with free fresh bread samples. This place is a win for lunch. La Spiga is hidden in a little industrial area by the Addison Airport. It's very small and cozy but the food is amazingly affordable and tasty! I usually order the Pasta Bolognese (9.25) or the Penne Pasta with Chick and Mushroom (9.25). I also get the house salad with dressing tossed and it's very satisfying. My husband and I usually split an entree because their portions are very generous. We leave feeling full and healthy. There is also a great selection of bread made there that you can purchase by the loaf. They are all very delicious. If you are hesitant to buy a whole loaf of bread, fear not! They have a little sample buffet so you can try out the little pastries and breads they have to offer before purchasing. I read that this place was great for pastry. I went ahead and bought a cake early in the morning for a birthday and asked if someone else could pick it up at the end of the day. When someone else picked up the cake there was different staff and she was full of assumptions. The lady at the counter said that it needed to be paid at the moment. (I had paid in advance.) We told her that. Then wanted further proof by asking for a photo receipt. (Since I wasn't there.) I sent it but she was still rude and not trusting. This hidden gem is great! I would have never guessed there was an adorable and tasty bakery in this area of Addison, but I am so glad I was introduced. First of all, definitely take advantage of the bread bar when you come here. There are samples of all different kinds of breads, jams, and even muffins (the blueberry are great) that you can enjoy while waiting for your food. That being said, the wait was not long at all. We were served almost immediately after ordering. They do things fast here. I ordered a chicken sandwich and potato soup and was really blown away at the quality of the sandwich. It was delicious and the chicken was well seasoned. And for the price, I was actually given a pretty good sized sandwich. I ordered only half, but it was definitely a full size sandwich. I'm curious to see what a full sandwich looks like. I haven't tried the coffee here, but they also serve espresso drinks and coffee, as well as some French pastries. And I hear that they cater, too. This shop is super adorable - a bit tight on seating but I came during lunch and was able to find a place no problem.
