My husband and I are building a house just a few blocks away, so we've been wanting to try this place--and I'm so glad we finally did! It's absolutely adorable inside and has such a fun vibe. My husband ordered the chicken special, which I obviously had to steal a few bites of , and it was delicious! I got the Alfredo carbonara with chicken (I know... basic B ), and it was so good. My wine was perfectly cool and crisp, too! I really wish we had room for dessert because everything sounded amazing. Our server was wonderful and even boxed up my food for me. They also have someone come around with fresh Parmesan and cracked pepper, which is such a nice touch! Food: hit or miss. Two of us agreed the gnocchi was not even 'mehh' worthy. The more I ate it the more I disliked it. The gnocchi itself was VERY sweet which really threw off the savory flavor of the pesto sauce. Nice atmosphere with plenty of tables and booths. Not loud so you can hear the person sitting across from you. The calamari has tentacles, which is 10x better. It did have a hair in it though. The short rib ragu has plenty of tender meat and wasn't overly saucy. Not much sauce at all actually, but we prefer it that way. The pappardelle was slightly overcooked. The ravioli di mare comes with exactly 5 pieces of ravioli. Again, not much sauce, which is great. Taste-wise it was fine. I couldn't visually tell it had lobster or crab in it, but they were nicely filled. I don't think it was worth the same price tag as the short rib ragu. Throughout our meal one of the waiters (not ours) was loud and repeatedly ran into the booths, including the ones we were seated in. At one point he ran into our waitress, didn't apologize, and gave her a nasty look. I don't know if he was intoxicated or something, but his manners were unacceptable. He's the waiter with the silver cross earring(s). Management needs to have a conversation with him. read more

So I walk I and a charming hostess who is well mannered greets me like I'm at The Mansion at Turtle Creek (Dallas). For an early 20's to be that refined and professional is unheard of. Now I'm at the table and another mid-20s is our waitress (Andrea). Impeccable service and highly trained. Immediately I know the owners of this place know what VIP customers expect. But wait!!! We are in the middle of nowhere - red neck fishermen land! We started at 5pm... and when we left at 7pm, the place was packed with people in line for tables. Impressive. Calamari: Herb seasoned and lightly battered - but the crust was crunchy, perfectly cooked, delicate meat and absolutely no rubber!! Delicate and incredible! The marinara is warm, perfectly seasoned balance of tomato and herbs. Hint of salt beautifully done. One of my favorites ever. Score: 10 out of 10 Shrimp Scampi: Obviously handmade pasta, perfectly seasoned and delicious sauce. Score: 9/10 Chicken Parmesan: Delicious. Great ratios of cheese to chicken. Ask for double sauce (not enough for the size of the dish). Chicken is pounded a bit too thin yielding a tad more dense protein - but still nice. (Could be 30% thicker which would increase the chicken flavor ratio.) Score: 8.5/10 Fettuccine Alfredo: Excellent. Well made with all the right ratios of what you expect. The Hubs and I got reservations for our anniversary. I definitely recommend getting reservations if it is on the weekend as all the tables were filled throughout the evening. We were seated right away and also greeted right away. We ordered drinks off the holiday menu, I got a cranberry spritz with limoncello. That was absolutely delicious and my husband loved his apple butter old-fashioned. The appetizers looked amazing but we didn't try this time so we would have room for dessert. I definitely want to go back and try the focaccia and the Arancini. We got Caesar salad salads, and for dinner we had the shrimp scampi with added artichokes and the sausage penne with peppers. We loved it! We shared the tiramisu for dessert with coffee and it was perfect! We are already planting our return trip. It is such a cute place with delicious food and great service! read more

Greeting and service (shout out to Oscar) was prompt, everyone was very attentive to their tables from what I observed, and the food was delicious! Plenty of seating when we arrived around dinner time on a Thursday night it did start to fill up) and they have an outdoor patio section if you want to sit outside. We tried the house made foccacia bread 5/5- bread is a must to start before an Italian dinner! I love a good flavorful carb, calamari-crispy, but the marinara sauce here is super thick imo.. I did I enjoy the second sauce a lot more, they accompany the calamari with marinara and a refreshing citrus herb flavored dip, that was tasty 4/5, lobster ravioli 3/5-again sauce was pretty thick and this time it was the pink sauce, pink sauce had great flavor, but I felt the lobster lacked in flavor (as a New England girl, my lobster standard is pretty high) so the dish was just meh to me..Chicken parm with upgraded pink sauce (thick)-chicken was moist!! a great portion size, pasta was well cooked 4/5, and tiramisu 5/5- authentic flavor-must try!! This is our second time to La Rustica and we still really enjoyed it. Our server, Andrea was on top of things, she was very kind and made sure my girls, 4 and 7 felt welcomed and like VIPs. We got the focaccia again because it was so good the first time. It's not a traditional focaccia but man it's yummy. Husband got the Soppressata pizza and sausage and loved it. Last time he got the Salmon and it was awesome and the crust was crispy and not over done. I got carbonara this time and because I had a cold I couldn't taste it. Last time I got the chicken piccata and it was nice a lemony. The girls got pizza last time and this time fettuccine and spaghetti, all hits. We are VERY excited to finally have a good Italian place near our community. We have been there 4 times in three weeks. The food is excellent. They seem to have weekend specials. The place looks good and has a good atmosphere. The one thing I would like them to do is better train the staff on some fine dining tips. This includes: ask my wife for her order first. Serve her first. Just leave the check discreetly on the table. No need to hold it at our eye level and ask who wants it. Once the card is run, just put the bill on the table instead of a big production. There were others but enough for now. read more

The Mother's Day brunch was a delight. I ordered the Sausage, egg and cheese pizza Delicious! So large took home half. Dad ordered the Canoli French toast really hefty serving as well. He brought home 1/2 of his. Our daughter ordered the Chicken Picotta, it's her favorite an as usual it was great. Oh, did I mention $4 dollar mimosa's we had quite a few of those as well. When were here it feels like family. Be sure to check them out for yourself. The food was delicious, drinks ample and the service wonderful. Great open air seatings welcoming to all. The service was a 5/5, greeting promptly at the door and seated almost immediately. Our waitress was friendly, very attentive, prompt, and helpful. The staff overall was exceptional, i never even came close to running out of water and there was always someone close by. The ambiance was a 4/5, everything was clean and the tables were well prepped. It did seem a bit cramped as tables behind us kept bumping into our chairs. There was also a strong burnt aroma when we first walked in as well as again after we began eating. Food was unfortunately a 2/5, our bruschetta was very inconsistently salted. The first one was a complete salt bomb, the second was over salted, the third was the goldilocks one and the fourth was back to overly salty. Their calamari was good though and their accompanied marinara sauce was great and full of flavor. The gnocchi was bland, and the pesto that was supposed to be in it was unnoticeable. The spaghetti and meatballs was probably the most disappointing part, the noodles were way too thin, boarder line angel hair, the sauce tasted as if it came straight from the can, watery with no flavor, seasoning or anything added, just canned tomato sauce. The meatballs were extremely dry, crumbling into pieces as i cut through them with my fork, also lacking flavor and the whole leaf of basil on top was pointless. Overall, i sincerely hope that the food improves because this place has so much potential and it was completely full the entire time we were there. We will certainly try them again after some time passes to allow for improvements. I would love to see them serve some sort of bread to the tables. They HAVE to figure out the issues with seasoning and salt levels. Lastly, bring the flavor! A little bit of chopped basil in the sauce rather than the whole leaf on top would make a world of a difference. read more

We went here last night for our anniversary dinner and it was awesome. They treated us so nice, greeting us with an anniversary card for the table. Started with calamari and two cocktails. Then for dinner I had the fettuccine with salmon and the husband had shrimp scampi. It was delicious. The salmon was cooked perfectly. We shared a cannoli for dessert. Overall the flavors of the food is good. A bit disappointed in how they packed the Bruschetta (shown in photos) a little drizzle of the ricotta cheese? It wasn't worth the money. My husband & I came to La Rustica on their first official open day. We made a reservation through OpenTable & although we ran 15 minutes late we called & they were very kind about accommodating our "fashionably late arrival" as the hostess gushed after giving me a thoughtful compliment on my outfit. As expected, food took a little longer, but our server Mads made sure to keep us updated and was very communicative about how they were all learning together & for a newly opened restaurant with an entirely new team who is all learning their stride it is was impressive. From the hosts, to the server assistants, to our server & the floor manager, Victor. For the less forgiving patrons who like to push their glasses up their noses while giving unsolicited advice, who think Starbucks is where you get the best coffee and have a particular asymmetrical bob, maybe hold off on a visit for a month or so while the edges are filed down. For those who are actual & true aficionados of good restaurants & good food, I can 100% guarantee you will love to experience this unique expression of GREAT true to form rustic Italian comfort food made with heart that is actually independent & not cookie cutter like so many of the area restaurants on the north side of the lake. We recently moved to the area and were looking for a quiet, upscale bar for a glass of wine and appetizer. La Rustica did not disappoint. The wine-by-the-glass selections are nice but do not use Italian pronunciation when speaking with the bartender. I ordered two different reds, and he brought one red and one white. Simple correction with an apology. After finishing our apps (calamari fritti and arancini, the bartender delivered our check in a typical stand-up folder but failed to remove our dishes in front of us. A manager came over to ask "Is everything OK?" I told him no, that there were still dirty dishes in front of us, interfering with me getting and reading the check. The plates were quickly taken. I am old school fine dining, being part of a rating system designed by The Dallas Morning News and The Dallas Times Herald and was part of the management of the third finest rated restaurant in the country back in 1982. I guess that I am getting older and see too many hamburger joints being rated 5 Stars on Yelp. No, things change as time goes by and I will remember the grand evening ratings SHOULD include 33% for food, 33% for service and 33% for atmosphere. I guess that too many people of the current generations have been raised with "participation trophies." I will come back, wearing boots and jeans, and will expect to be greeted by the bartender with "Howdy folks." read more

We've tried La Rustica twice in the last two weeks and have also had take out. Each time the food has been really good. The waitstaff are very friendly and the owners are very attentive going around to the tables. Each time we've gone the restaurant is packed. Really puzzled by people's reviews of portion sizes. The entrees that we've ordered have been the perfect size and we feel they are priced right. I'm just excited that there is a nice sit down restaurant with a bar in the area without having to go to Frisco or Plano. The items that we've tried and I'd recommend them all.
