Chicken Bowl
Ashley S.

Very delicious and flavorful, big portion but... barely any chicken. It's 10% chicken, 20% toppings and 70% rice. Also the presentation of the food could be better. Thank you so much! Had a good lunch.

I enjoyed my chicken bowl, the potion was good, lots of options as add ons. I would go back. My only feedback is the styrofoam container. For a bowl it's better to not have one with compartments. But this is minor.

I got the chicken bowl with literally all the toppings and chipotle ranch. 10/10. It's a great portion as you can see, and definitely going to last me two meals (personally). I ordered online and went to pick it up which was all so easy. Will be back again for sure!

The ambiance was pleasant, and the staff were all very friendly and welcoming. That said, it felt like the restaurant was a bit understaffed for the evening. It seemed like there was only one waitress handling the entire dining room, which did cause some delays in service at times. Overall, my party was fairly happy with the experience. My chicken fajitas were very well prepared and packed with great flavor. Unfortunately, my spouse's ribeye was a bit underwhelming--the marbling was excessive, which affected the overall quality. On a positive note, the margaritas were well made and enjoyable. I'm giving it a solid rating because I'd love to see a small business like this succeed, but in all honesty, it felt closer to a 3.5-star experience.

The decor remains a win. Bright, festive, and exactly what you want from a neighborhood Mexican spot. Our server was friendly, attentive, and genuinely pleasant -- no complaints there. The food, though... felt like an off day. It took quite a while to arrive, especially considering the restaurant wasn't busy. And when it did hit the table, it was lukewarm. Not cold, not terrible -- just not what you hope for when you're excited and hungry. We ate it without making a fuss (we're not "send it back three times" people), but it definitely didn't match the quality of our first visit. The flavors weren't popping the way I remembered. That said -- here's where I land. Every restaurant has an off day. Kitchens get slammed, timing gets off, things happen. My first experience was strong enough that I'm willing to chalk this up to one of those days. I believe in second chances. I believe in supporting local businesses. And I'll be back -- because when they're on, they're good. Consider this a hopeful 3.5-to-4 star mindset with optimism for round three.

I paid $25 before tip for the "unlimited tacos" option (base price + chips + drink). After finishing my first plate, I went back up for another serving. The employee stops me and says I have to pay another $16 because he "saw on the cameras" that my girlfriend ate a couple scraps off my plate with chips. They're literally watching security cameras to stop people from sharing a bite of food. At a taco bar. That level of pettiness says everything about how this place is run. For the record -- I ate one plate and was satisfied. I wasn't trying to take advantage of anything. They still tried to charge me $32+ for what they call "unlimited" tacos. On top of that, the guy was preparing food while holding a dirty house phone, touching it, then going straight back to making food with no gloves or hand washing. Completely unsanitary. Even another customer nearby told me to "chill" because the situation was so absurd. A paying customer gets lectured and accused on camera over a couple of leftover pieces of taco meat on chips? Ridiculous. I won't be back, and I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone who expects basic customer service, professionalism, or food safety. There are far better taco spots in Broward that don't treat customers like they're trying to steal from them.

We ordered steak tacos (listed as one of the favorites), quesabirria, spicy margarita and the limonada de mango biche. The drinks were good but the food was okay. The quesabirria was better than the tacos, but the birria sauce just looked and tasted like oily water. The steak tacos are a favorite, but was unfortunately not mine. The steak was chewy and you weren't able to taste the truffle chimichurri. The tacos were also filled with oil. We gave it the benefit of the doubt and thought it may be some sort of sauce but confirmed that it was indeed oil when it started dripping out of the taco. We placed paper napkins on the tray and it absorbed the oil but there was still a lot in the tacos. I didn't notice it at first when I took the picture, but you are able to see the oil in the tacos and the tray...there was a lot! This was our first time at Chilacos and while it may have been a one-off experience, there are other taco places to visit.

It was perfect and they were willing to do whatever needed to be done to keep the us happy. The birria was incredible I just got Chicharron my brain is still processing how good it was. Maybe a little salty, but even though they were super yummy sauces on the table I didn't need to use any of them but I got sidetracked by her need for a key. The ambience was comfortable, casual, well lit and simple. Camilo took great care of us and answered all of our questions. We left completely stuffed and very happy. If I had to Nick pick, I would say that the lack of liquor license deter us from drinking like we wanted to and I wish I didn't have to ask if the margarita was wine based because we almost ordered it and I'm glad we didn't now that I know. Otherwise, we were extremely happy and I will be back often

The margaritas have some really nice flavors to them and my favorite one to get is the prickly pear which has prickly pear puree, lime juice and el tesoro banco in it. It is on the sweet side but has a nice kick from the tequila! I like that they aren't skimpy with the amount they put in from the ones that I have had! I recently went for brunch and can say their sangria is also refreshing and you get a nice glass filled to the top! I had the cast iron skillet pancake and the flavor was amazing and the portion was huge! Their tacos are good but I will only get them during happy hour prices because they are a bit on the smaller side for the price, in my opinion. The service has always been stellar when I am here and I like that there is a nice amount of seating scattered around the place. I also like that there is an option to sit inside out outside in their patio area or at the bar in high top seats. Prices are pretty decent and their drinks and food are delicious. Being within walking distance is a blessing and a curse on Fridays for happy hour lol!

I noticed the staff even telling the uber delivery drivers to drive safe. That's genuine! I've sat at both tables and the bar, and the bar easily wins for me. Especially on karaoke nights. it brings such a fun, lively energy to the place that makes you want to stay longer than planned. The place is also decorated super cute too. Funny enough, I actually heard about Casa Monarca directly from the owner. Total random moment, I was telling a friend how much I love tacos, and he happened to be a friend of my friend. He told me to check it out, and I'm glad I remembered and listened because he definitely didn't steer me wrong. Food never disappoints. I've tried a bunch of different things. The chorizo tacos, elote, verde enchiladas, quesadillas, and nachos. I make it a point to switch it up every visit. Everything I've had has been fire!! Next on my list is the choripollo, and I already know it's going to hit. Parking is easy too, which is always a plus. They've got a big lot so no stressing there. I did hear they're moving locations very soon (I think this week?) but it's just a few minutes away. They definitely didn't lose a customer. 10/10 recommend Casa Monarca. If you're in FTL and want some fire Mexican food with good energy staff and locals, this is the spot.

Casa Monarca closed on Federal Highway and *poof* opened up on Prospect Road…read more Upon entering I took a quick look around: It's smaller with lots of tables and a few booths. Still an attractive interior. Two very nice servers were on the floor. We just missed lunch so the dinner menu was our only option. They brought the complementary chips and salsa (which some places now have the nerve to charge for), it's a tasty salsa. Ordered some "fresh made" guac (it better be!) which was made better with a few squeezes of lime juice. We decided to try the combo platters since the kitchen was new and it's a good test. My dining companion opted for shredded beef burrito and a ground beef chili relleno. I went with a ground beef tostada and shredded chicken enchilada. With the requisite beans and rice. Look, it was good food, not knock your socks off cuisine. I mean we consciously chose Mex-American so that's on us. The menu offers some other interesting options that I'd order next time. My only gripe is a dry enchilada. I like them swimming in red sauce and cheese which this was not. Otherwise, as I stated, nothing to complain about. The price point is decent for dinner in Fort Lauderdale. Btw I love a good tostada and mine was pretty darn yummy.
