Went here for breakfast on Saturday. The place is really cute, kind of funky. Very comfortable. Service was friendly. They have a huge array of coffees and coffee drinks. Amazing, amazing, authentic food; one of the only good coffee shops around (mostly Intellegentsia I believe). The tortas and breakfast dishes are my favorite - as well as the yuca fries. My friend and I were so psyched about trying this place out; we had heard great reviews about it from other customers. I must say I love the creativity in the name and decor, and the menu all sounded delicious! I got the torta which looked delicious and tasted great. However, I will warn you that the food has lots of condiments more than your typical Latino dish... It made me and my friend sick for a day or two. This place is amazing. I come here with my boyfriend almost every weekend for breakfast. The breakfast quesadilla is amazing! The coffee is perfect and the Isabella smoothie might be the best thing I have ever had. We recently ordered dinner here and I almost wish we didn't because it's so close and so good that we eat here way too often. Definitely stop by and try everything. I am a vegetarian and I love this place. So many options. Food is very fresh and not your typical food that you get at Latin American restaurants. It's a modern twist on Venezuelan food. Yuca fries and tostones are always done well. Their dipping sauces are yummy. Love their arepas and empanadas. Quinoa bowl is delicious and so is the chia pudding- try it and you won't regret it.they have wifi. The only reason I gave 4 stars is that they mix up orders or forget the orders often. The other reason is the drinks are pricey. It's a noisy place. Patrons conduct business loudly over the phone. I don't really mind the noise as I take my kids in often and its skid friendly place. read more

If you haven't tried it yet, get there! The room is small, and sometimes crowded, but the food is so good. Breakfast, lunch or dinner, and smoothies, great coffee, and some really great desserts. My favorite thing is Chilaquiles for breakfast, you can order the red or green salsa, and they make so many variations of chia pudding which is fabulous here. There is nothing on the menu I've disliked, and the service is fast and usually friendly. I love this place! It combines two of my favorite things: coffee and latin american food! I started coming to this place since it opened, and I have never been disappointed. The staff is super friendly and helpful, as well as the owner, and the food is always great and flavorful. My favorite thing to order is the Ecuador quinoa bowl with chicken, however all the meals I've tried have never been less than awesome. I love how they offer smoothies and juices-- perfect for breakfast when you want an alternative to coffee. Their breakfast options are also delicious. We came for dinner here for the first time. We weren't quite sure what to order so we went with something we are familiar with, Carne Asada, and Mixed Fajitas. We are so lucky to live within walking distance to La QChara. The food is tasty and unique, plus it is one of the few places in Melrose with outdoor seating. Really good brunch menu. I got the egg&cheese quesadilla and it was very good with the dipping sauce I asked for separately. They don't have ketchup but ask for their reddish coloredsauce - it's a lot better than ketchup! I also had their homemade limonada (lemonade) and that was tart but great as well. We've ordered from La Qchara many times for delivery, takeout, and have dined in on several occasions so I was surprised by some of the other reviews. We haven't had any bad experiences either pre-covid or post-covid. Their food always tastes good and it's a nice change of pace from most of the other offerings in the Melrose area. We've tried a lot of their main dishes and arepa's. Their burrito, which isn't as prominent on their menu, is delicious. Their various drink offerings are almost always excellent. Portion sizes are mediumish so I suppose if someone was looking for a heaping pile of food they might be disappointed. Delivery speed, when we get it delivered, is what would be expected for that day/time of day/weather condition. We've never had any hiccups with pickup. We haven't dined in since covid but always had a good experience before that. Overall, they're one of our go-to's. read more

The place set up was bad, the staff was cold and unwelcoming and the food had zero flavor. Maybe if I lived in Cali and wanted to talk about politics and eat grass this would be more my speed. After coming here for breakfast this morning with my boyfriend I'm in love with la qchara! We were both intimidated at first by the menu but ultimately everything we ordered for breakfast was delicious. I also ordered one of the chia puddings to go to have for lunch and some muffins for my family and was very happy with all of it. Dread guy convinced me to order a latte claiming he makes the best one in all the land and I have to say he may be right, it was delish. I had read about this place and was looking forward to finally have time to try it out . I had looked at the menu online and knew exactly what I was going to order for takeout. I ordered the the entree which was pulled beef with rice and beans, with a side of avacado sliced in a olive oil marinated. My mother always made the avacados this way, I couldn't wait to eat! Well I ordered the food and a cafe latte to have as I wait. Well I never got the coffee and when my name was called I let the girl know coffee never came, to take off my bill, she seemed confused as to how to refund me, but after 5 minutes I got a refund. I got home and couldn't wait especially for the avacado. I was disappointed when the there a few slices of avacado with nothing on It, actually it was already turning color. This for 3.95? However the actual entree was tasty, but I could not get over the avacado. Not sure I would go back. read more

*Great for gluten free needs. I have a friend who cannot eat gluten, and this place does gluten free so well you don't even miss it. I came for brunch a couple of months ago, and I can't wait to come back. The chia pudding with coconut and raspberries was delicious - seriously, get a bowl for the table. I also had one of the vegetarian arepas, so good. The coffee was solid, and the service friendly. When we arrived around 10am on a rainy Saturday morning, there were no tables. There was a line of 3-4 groups within 15 minutes, but we still ended up seated with food within 20 minutes. It was worth the wait, and we had coffee in hand and plenty to discuss to pass the time:) read more

I visit here frequently because they are the only place local to me that has a fresh juice bar. Super friendly staff that even remembers you by name. They have almond milk and other non dairy alternatives for their coffee drinks, which are great by the way. I do wish they had more vegan options for food choices, they do have chia seed pudding but I'm not a fan of chia seeds in general. Oatmeal would be great. Nut bars, oat bars, something like that. Even their salads all seem to have cheese on them. The smoothies are also great, the one with cherries, cashews and coconut is delicious! read more
