We love this place and were very big frequents of Coffee, Tea and Me. Love that the menu is slightly different too so we can still go to CTM to get the AMAZING crepes but LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the menu options at La Qchara! They offer some similar items like the coffees and slight change to the smoothies but they also offer fresh made raw juices! The food is beyond delicious and we love that we see all the same people including Emily and Lorenzo often (owners). La Qchara recently started making scones which are savory goodness. It is hard not to order multiple things when there. We have had other patrons ask us what we ordered as everything looks and tastes delicious. My husband and I are OBSESSED with coffee, we have even bought beans from Coffee, Tea & Me. He loves the daily special brew, I love the espresso drinks. My favorite is the Condensada - espresso, milk and a touch of condensed milk for sweetness. I recently saw some hot cocoa's leave the counter and they looked very good. The food is fresh, the yuca fries are my fave. I was so happy to see this on the menu as I tried this for the first time as a kid at a Colombian restaurant and no one puts it on their menu anywhere. It's also a family place and people are so friendly. It is usually busy but that is the way a good cafe should be, lively atmosphere and people waiting to eat good food. Sometimes you have to wait for a seat but not usually long and since the food is made to order, by the time the food is ready, you have found a table. Nothing but good things to say about the owners and the two businesses they have successfully opened. We go probably too often but always more items added to 'specials' and fresh baked goods on the counter. I've been here a few times for lunch. The quinoa bowls and arepa's are delicious! Today though my mission was breakfast. The chicaquiles with the tomatillo sauce and eggs over easy was both satisfying and not too filling. She got the huevos tanpaiquenos ( skirt steak Benedict) looked and tasted equally yummy. Favorite place in Melrose! Such good food- wish it was a bigger location because there IS ALWAYS a line. Had both breakfast and dinner there and love them both. Yuca fries are to die for. Want to try their chia drinks but they make them all with almond milk- I'm allergic. Only recommendation I have is to experiment with different milks. read more

La Q'chara is a great place for an informal bite to eat. The food is pretty good and I love that they makes juices and smoothies. The menu is extensive and appeals to many. My only suggestion is to improve the acoustics in there. Even with only a few tables it can get really loud and make it hard to have a conversation. read more

This place is terrific. A perfect compliment to their amazing Coffee Tea and Me location. The peace muffin is the most incredibly baked good ever made. The staff is incredible. Love it here! The breakfast is probably my favorite and one of the best indulgences on days when I work from home. I also love the lunch and dinner meals, especially the quinoa bowls when you want to feel a little "healthy." Tonight there was a mix up with my takeout order, but the staff was SO quick to respond and so apologetic while quickly rectifying the issue and offering a complimentary dessert. I've always been happy with my food and drinks, but tonight's service was really impressive!! Not that there was ever a question, but I'll definitely continue coming back. read more

My boyfriend and I ate lunch here today and I have to say the word on the street of this place being delicious was no lie. We got the chicken wing appetizer which were crispy and delicious with just enough spice. My boyfriend got the carne asada and I got a quinoa bowl. Both portions were perfect. We were a bit disappointed that they didn't have Pepsi products but the woman suggested limonana which reminded me of a fresher seltzer water with lots of lime flavoring. So happy I found this place. Spanish food and healthy options north of Boston?! What a gem. I almost don't want to write this review so I can keep it a little secret.... We went on a Saturday Morning and I got a latte and the plaintain and cheese empanadas. I was going to get a smoothie or juice too but I'm glad I didn't I was full after one empanada. Everything looks delicious and everyone was very nice. We had to wait a minute (literally) for a seat which is nothing for a breakfast place on a saturday morning. My new favorite place. It's got a great, friendly vibe, it's full of light with attractive decor, and for a relaxed, informal breakfast, lunch, or snack, it's tough to beat the food. I come in several times a week (I'm reviewing from within the place right now) and can't get enough of the Venezuelan Benedict. This cafe is amazing! Stopped in here on a super hot Saturday hungry and hot, and could not have been happier. At the time (1PM) there wasn't a huge crowd and we got some seats no problem. The coffee is good (I think they use Intelligentsia for their espresso), though I can't vouch yet for some of the amazing listed coffee 'mixed drinks' which sounded awesome. The food, though, was on point. The 'eggs benedict' was fantastic (and I think had chorizo), as were the yuca fries. Looking at the menu, I wished I could have ordered 3 entrees just to try everything. Will definitely be coming back with an appetite after a long run or bike ride! read more

My first time here I was not impressed but I'm so glad my husband made me give this place another chance. Since then, I have tried a few things on their menu and I can honestly say that I love this place now. I think the food is amazing (I've been there in the past). However I ordered two smoothies over the phone. To begin the guy was short/rude on the phone. Then he told me it would be 20 minutes until they were ready. Which I would totally understand if it was busy but the place was empty! After all that time and 14$ later ...the smoothies were disgustingly sweet me and my sister tossed them it tasted like straight agave. read more

Disappointed in breakfast today. Food is always pretty good, but nothing like having to eat with your winter coat on. Thermostat seems turned off. The tables were not wiped down and had to be asked to be cleaned. I'm a regular customer, but service and comfort were off today which is disappointing. read more

We are new to Melrose and have been to La QChara twice for dinner. The first time, as rookies, we had to go back to the counter several times because we didn't realize that when you order guacamole or salsa, you also have to order chips if you want them (normally I would think its assumed, in this case once you learn it's all good). Both times, our meals were delicious, and we'll keep going back to try other items on the menu. And hopefully one of those times the dulce de leche cake will be the dessert option, yum!!! read more

Every visit here so far has left me full and completely satisfied, having eaten flavorful and unique dishes, and enjoying my meal in the coffee-shop style atmosphere. The menu has a ton to offer, both in terms of food and beverages. I've been there several times and am trying something new each time. The owner and staff are so helpful with asking questions and making recommendations, too, which can make a difference in a unique place like this. I'm really loving this place! I maybe about a month or so too late, but I'm glad its opened and they are adding another delicious flavor profile into Melrose. I've only eaten really one or 2 things here - I keep ordering the choriqueso and it was so good that I thought about it all week. The yuca and sauce that comes with it is excellent - just the right amount of spice (I've had it much much spicier elsewhere too and loved it as well).
