We came with our family and loved being able to walk around, check out all the different options, and grab a little bit of everything. The staff were really friendly, and I also liked that there were staff members walking around to clear your dishes once you were finished. It keeps the whole place clean and makes the experience feel more organized, especially when it gets busy. There's a lively atmosphere inside with plenty of seating, and it's a great place to come with a group since everyone can order something different. We tried a few different things, and everything was flavorful and satisfying. The variety is definitely one of the biggest draws here. There is a beer stand and couple of bars serving adult beverages to go along with the meal. I visited them the most. Ha It can get busy, especially around dinner, but that's part of the experience. If you're visiting Amsterdam and looking for a casual place with lots of food choices, friendly service, and a fun atmosphere, Foodhallen is definitely worth checking out.

But I did not care for the BBQ pork bun. I was surprised how bland it tasted. Maybe it was just me but I would order other stuff from here! I couldn't catch this other restaurant but they had really good hot dog that were made in special way! You can see the hot dog is not just any other hot dog. People here are friendly but the place itself is quite crowded so it tends to get humid inside. Could not find many seats either. You'll just need to keep looking!

None of the food stalls were particularly interesting to me and the Indonesian food I chose wasn't that great. Expect shopping mall food court quality. In the main walkway of De Hallen, there are a bunch of booths where vendors are selling vintage items which was cool. None of sellers were particularly pushy. I do wish there was some seating available in the main hallway. As a tourist, this would be an optional item on my itinerary. Overall, De Hallen was what I expected out of a marketplace/food hall type concept. I found it to be a good place to wait out heavy rains.

There was a nice variety of sad and disappointing - sad and disappointing sandwiches, sad and disappointing pizza, sad and disappointing sushi, Burger King - but everything did appear to be sad and disappointing. I went with Leon because it looked less sad, and even a little bit interesting. The food? It was fine. Nothing special. Nothing I would seek out in a non-airport setting. I had the Korean chicken wrap. It was exactly the quality you'd expect from an airport fast food establishment located thousands of miles from Korea. The rice bowls appeared to be of a similar quality. If I'd been hungrier, I would have ordered one of them. So why five stars? The five stars is to their employee Ivanka (her name was on the receipt), who handled the massive line of stressed out customers with efficiency, grace, and good humor. If you are the manager/owner of Leon, you should give her a raise. If you are hiring for a company in Amsterdam, you might want to look into poaching her.

The weird thing was this ketchup sauce they had in the sandwiches. We THINK it was curry ketchup, but not positive. The sandwich was tasty. It was on an English muffin that was not what used to seeing. (Funny when you only know American style English Muffins. ) My daughter & I had Latte Macchiato's - they were so darn good. (Going to miss my European coffees. Again!) They have a decent seating area, but not geared towards families with babies. Lol we made it work. Corner seatings should be reserved for families.

**This review is about the washrooms in the shopping center.**…read more We were out and about when nature called. There weren't any public washrooms, excluding those outdoor urinals ("pee curls") that only men can really use, and an employee of a nearby shop directed us to the Magna Plaza shopping center. There were washrooms on the second floor of the shopping center, but it cost €1. But when you have to go, you have to go, and I figured since they were charging to use the facilities, it would at least be a clean and comfortable experience -- when you pay for something, there are certain expectations. To get to the entrance of the washrooms, there were two turnstiles. I went to one turnstile, but it was cash only and I didn't have any cash on me, so I went to the second turnstile that accepted credit cards. However, there was a group of fucking tourists, paying by cash, blocking the credit card only turnstile, while they took their sweet time trying to figure out the currency. I finally managed to get into the washroom, and there was no toilet paper! Seriously, if I have to PAY to use the toilet, there better damn well be toilet paper! Thank goodness I always carry napkins and tissues with me and I wasn't taking a shit! I then went to wash my hands, but there was a MALE employee in the WOMEN'S washroom, and he was blocking the sinks and wouldn't let me wash my hands! I was able to find the handicapped washroom and wash my hands in there, but there was no paper towel. This one of the worst public bathroom experiences I have had (that did not include bodily fluids or excrement everywhere). If I have to pay, I expect the basics such as toilet paper, paper towel (or at least a hand dryer), and the ability to wash my hands! [Yelp collections: Europe 2024; Amsterdam, the Netherlands]

I've been to, and rather like, de Foodhallen (http://www.yelp.com/biz/de-foodhallen-amsterdam) so this seemed right up my alley! I will get to the food, but will cover the practical stuff first. In an old parking garage, it certainly has personality. With restaurants, up, down and literally around the structure, you could get lost finding all of the diverse food spots. Since there were three of us and we wanted to try A LOT, we got some of the smaller dishes the different stands had to offer. And the owners are so happy to talk about their food and where they came from! First of all, hours. We thought going there on a Saturday at noon was a good bet...the website says they open at 8 am. While some opened *around* noon, looks like 3 or 4 pm on Saturday is best. As we missed out on some spots with a nice line attached because they opened as we left (and were stuffed!). I'm not sure about weekdays, though. It's not the easiest spot to get to with public transit, but it does have a parking lot for cars if that's how you roll. I would suggest taking your bike on the metro or be prepared to walk at least 1 km, or figure out which bus might go near by as I did see one bus stop. FOOD! Ground Floor My favorite was the fried chicken! OH SO GOOD. This is real fried chicken. The kind that you are so happy you are eating. I kind of forgot to share mine. It's directly across from the bar and can order by the piece. They also have the hot chicken (spicy hot) which my friends seemed to really enjoy as well. I just don't do spice. Supu Food was so cool. The man was happy to let us taste the Zoutvlees "salted meat" before we ordered. I wasn't sure what to expect, but it was good! So we got a sandwich with the salted meat in a juice with green beans and topped with a pickle. Not usually my thing, but this guy knows what he's doing because I thought it was great! He also has a few soups! Surinamese Pasty is a my go! She not only has cakes and pastries from Suriname, but I believe she also had some from Indonesia. Doesn't really matter where they are from because they are divine. And if you seen a green colored cake...eat it. So much deliciousness. 1st floor (2nd for Americans ;) ) Good 4 Us--We started off with a strawberry/banana smoothie made with yogurt. She has a nice variety of yummy things that you can't go wrong. But what we thought was cool what that she wants to education the children about food. What a great idea! I think the importance of food education has slipped, so I'm happy to see one woman pushing that movement forward. Chilli & Spice's fish burger made with naan was next. It was made with tandoori spices and topped with mango chutney. I didn't taste the mango but they flavor would have been great. But even without it, I was a very happy woman with my fish in naan. Bara Man made traditional Bara. And if you aren't familiar, it's kind of a bread with spices and we got chicken curry inside. It gets mushy, but I like it! Add a little cucumber in your bite and perfection. Lastly a super nice Armenian woman served us a pastry with cheese and spinach. I'm not a spinach fan, but it wasn't bad. The pastry was absolutely perfect and what ever kind of cheese it was, was delicious. I still could have eaten the whole thing, regardless of the spinach. I hope to be back soon to share the fried chicken with my husband, and to try some of the places that weren't open when we arrived!

Sure it is 'cool' they made something of the typical shady Bijlmer garage, but just like they made something beautiful out of the old tram remise, they could easily do a much, MUCH better job: - white TL lights, wtf! Better lighting would help a lot - do something with the plane concrete, just like those restaurants in the old factories in Amsterdam Noord. 2. On arrival in the parking garage, the first car parked at the entrance inside the garage was a typical old car with two old black dudes blowing. The whole garage had a strong smell. Sorry World of Food, "nothing changed!" Was my first thought. 3. The pizza dude only accepts cash, had no more dough for his pizzas at 18.30! And didn't know his own menu.. 4. The 1st of January could easily be one of the busiest days for a place like this. Yet only 3 places were open! Italian, Indian and Thai. The Thai was very busy, we were not into Indian today and the Pizza place had no more dough.. We ended up ordering burgers at McDonalds.

The first time I went, it was completely empty - I was able to order at the little kiosk immediately, and my food was ready within just a few minutes. Another time when I tried to order, I saw the line was massive to order at the kiosk and I had a short connection so unfortunately I had to pass. And one last time I tried to go, the line was a little medium, so I decided to stay and it took about 15 min total from start to finish which isn't too bad if you're not in a rush. After traveling in Europe for a while, I was craving a good old American classic of nuggets so that's what I ordered. Compared to the US, the menu is pretty similar with just a few changes - including the sauce options. Overall, just your standard Burger King quality. When you order, you have a few options of either staying and eating in the little food court area next to the store or leaving and bringing it to your gate. Since my gate was not the nicest I decided to eat there. The cafeteria is usually packed and you'd be lucky to find a spot. It's pretty loud, but also decently clean. Burger King is a good place to go if it's empty or you have time to wait!
