The whole experience is fun, a little mysterious, and honestly just exciting. The inside is just as stylish as the staff--everyone fits the energy perfectly and makes the night even better. And the food? Surprisingly really good, not just an afterthought like most spots like this. Definitely one of those places that turns an ordinary night into something memorable.

You need a password (easy to find online), and you go through a hidden door down a staircase. But it feels more like a novelty than anything else. NYC has way more iconic speakeasies, so this isn't somewhere I'd go out of my way for more than once. Nothing wrong with the vibe--it's Times Square, so you already know what you're getting--but it's definitely a one-and-done kind of spot. The drinks are good and super fun, but they're very extra (smoke, presentation, all that), so between that and how packed it gets, it can take a while just to get one cocktail. Didn't try the food. Overall, go for the pics and TikToks--it's perfect for that. I'd recommend checking it out once, but I don't really see it being a repeat spot.

They have a big patio which is really nice for our rare beautiful weather days. Luckily it was one when we ate here! Our server was fun and cooperated with my uncle's crazy jokes. The staff here are very attentive and proactive, and there is a high level of service. We had the focaccia and fried asparagus to start and both were amazing. I had the rigatoni, which I wasn't sure if I'd like because it was pea-forward, but it was surprisingly really good. The ramp pizza was also very tasty, I wanted more of it, which I also didn't expect because I wrote it off as being a super green/healthy pizza. We had a bunch of desserts. I don't usually see cookies on a dessert menu, but these cookies were so good. Perfectly baked. The bourbon cake was really good too. Everything we had here was honestly really great and I enjoyed the thought they put into the menu.

We had the Chicjen Liver app with the Burger, Fish, and Lamb sandwich. It was all super fresh and delicious. Would definitely recommend CookShop. Nice ambiance inside and great views at the outside tables. Service was prompt, friendly, and efficient.

Because we were rushing, we decided to order a quick impossible burger which was easy to eat and chug down. Fries were FIRE! Our friends ordered entrees and they looked SOOOOO good and couldn't stop raving about them. Everything looks fresh and delicious. Can't wait to come back and enjoy the hype of The Smith, especially for brunch! All this to say, that even on a rush, the food here is amazing.

I ordered the little gem Caesar that came with Parmesan crisps instead of croutons (a win for gluten free people!). It was a little low on salt but luckily the tables had salt and pepper and with a little seasoning it was perfect. I also had the grilled chicken sandwich with fries, but they accommodated the meal to be gluten free by removing the bun and adding greens. It was SO good. I didn't even realize I ate the whole thing. To drink I had a cucumber mule and it was a perfect mocktail. Overall, a solid lunch!

Bartenders were cool and drinks were good. Because it was a Sunday and it was pretty busy, we decided to get a table before the restaurant filled up. The waiter was super cool and did not rush us while we waited at our table. I got the braised short rib mafaldine and I gotta say it was one of the better pasta dishes I have eaten in a while. Very thick and flavorful sauce along with the nice texture of the mafaldine pasta and nice and tender meat made this such a great dish. Very generous portion size, too. Even when we were finished and we stayed and talked a bit, we weren't rushed by the waiter and he let us continue to stay and talk. That was pretty cool of him. Also came by several times to drop off water and check if we needed anything else. Some negatives are that the place is pretty dark and kind of cramped. It is also pretty loud, so you will need to speak pretty loudly to be heard at your table. Overall, I loved the braised shot rib mafaldine. My friends also liked their dishes, which included the steak, late night spaghetti, and Mediterranean salad. If I'm back in the area, I will be sure to come back here.
