We were running errands on a cold day and finally had time to stop in and this will definitely not be our last time! The owners are super friendly and could answer any questions we had about the menu. We sat down to enjoy our order at a small table and were blown away from the moment we opened everything up. The Apple Pie was warm and delicious with a crust that was complex but not over done. The apples were still firm and held their shape with the right amount of seasoning and spices. We highly recommend the pie and the Caramel Apple Danish as well. The chocolate croissant really set the experience apart though. The flaky layers with buttery goodness were perfectly wrapped around a strong chocolate center without being too bitter. Each bite was a moment to savor. I spoke to a few other patrons who raved about everything from the lattes to sandwiches. You can even order ahead for larger parties. Make sure to stop by if you're in the area!

I'm a sucker for bakeries, and I finally got to try this one today. I decided to just get one thing, to decide whether it's worth coming back, and I'm glad to say it is! I had the pepperoni croissant, and the crisped cheese alone is worth the price haha. Very yummy. I could've used a bit more pepperoni but maybe that's just personal preference. I'm excited to try some other items. I hope they do well!

The pastries are AMAZING!! It feels so good to have high quality food in our area. Also the owners are so kind and accommodating. On top of it all the Cafe is adorable. Such a fun place to be.

Upon entering the restaurant, there are crystal chandeliers, bright colors, French posters, and a lively atmosphere. The restaurant had a lot of potential until we experienced the service and cuisine. I brought my Supper Club here, and we had a group of 8 of us. There was also a very large group at the restaurant. We were neglected on several occasions, and it took us 2 HOURS just to get our food order. That's not an exaggeration. Our waitress was rather snippy with us, and ended up apologizing at the end but it did make for an unpleasant experience. When we finally received our bread, we were so hungry that we scarfed it down despite it being not so great sour dough bread. Every dish was flavorless and left us wanting more. I had to send back the steak on two occasions: once for being undercooked and once for being overcooked. I ended up getting my meal for free. The Coquilles St. Jacques had the smallest scallops without the lovely scallop shell its usually served in. The shrimp cocktail tasted like anything you could get at the grocery store. The Nicoise Salad was just sad and flavorless. The porkchop and escargot had the most flavor. I will definitely not be back to this establishment. Our group did enjoy each other's company, and it created a very memorable experience even though it was an overall bad experience!

Unlike traditional French meals, ours did not take long to prepare (or devour) we loved the BYOB option, and chose to sit outdoors. There was a funny carpet smell when we arrived so I was glad we had the option to sit outside under an umbrella. I don't know if I would return but I'm really glad we did come here to celebrate our anniversary!

We arrived on time. The parking was $3.00. The restaurant is in an old carriage house on the campus of Case Western Reserve University. We were placed in a the back room near a mini door by a window and a view of the patio garden. The inside was very nice. I am a bit claustrophobic so I sat with my back to the corner while my husband had a view of the corner. Fortunately, he could see the patio which he liked. The other downside, was the couple of flies that kept buzzing to and fro around the window, We joked that we wanted inside on the nice late afternoon / early evening to avoid bugs. Hahaha. We laughed at that too as our week had us on Lake Erie covered with midgies one day and then biting flies a few days later. Gotta laugh, but I digress. L'Albatros! Our server Kyle and the team did a great job! We had water, bread with olive oil, as needed. We started with cocktails and the "French Toast". My husband enjoyed a nice white wine and I had the L'Albatros Original ( Absinthe, Lime, Pineapple, Mint ). I loved the cocktail, it was just a tad sweet, but the flavor was super ! The "French Toast" was a substantial slice of French toast covered with ragout of wild mushrooms and balsamic syrup and micro greens and shaved parmesan. It was lovely. My husband LOVES mushrooms, so this was perfect. For our mains, he ordered the shrimp pasta. Kyle shared that the cream sauce is made with Pernod, which my husband is not a fan of Anise/ black licorice,so he would not enjoy. Kyle offered that they could do a vodka cream sauce instead. This was a much better option for him and he really enjoyed. I ordered the Root Vegetable Cassoulet. It was topped with some breadcrumb mixture. It was the least successful part of the dish. While I normally like a crumble, this has an odd texture. The root vegetables were perfectly cooked and the sauce was delicious. For dessert, my husband ordered cheesecake. I had a bite and it was tasty. I ordered a cappuccino and it was made perfectly. Definitely a place we would both be happy to return to. Well done service, food and ambiance!

The braised beef was tender, but again, it felt pretty average and didn't have that wow factor you expect from a higher-end French restaurant. For what it cost, I expected something more impressive. The biggest miss for me was dessert. The strawberry balsamic cheesecake just didn't work at all. The balsamic flavor completely overpowered everything, and I honestly hated it. It was one of those desserts where a few bites were enough. Overall, the meal wasn't terrible, but I left feeling very underwhelmed, especially considering the price. There are plenty of places where I'd happily spend that kind of money, and this just didn't feel worth it.

The service is incredible, our server was incredibly nice, had recommendations and even gave us a celebratory glass of champagne for our anniversary. The baguette was exactly as you want. Service was appropriately paced. They do ask that you submit your entire order at once which is my preference anyway. Drink: 5/5 delightful cocktails and nice wine menu, definitely all pricey though Food: we have olives, the cheese plate, the bistro salad, and filet mignon frites both with the cognac peppercorn sauce and truffle sauce for the fries and finished with the chocolate soufflé. The food was all very good! The steaks were perfectly good and delish! The fries were quite salty but that is my preference so I enjoyed them a lot. The soufflé was delicious! Not too sweet and the ice cream with sauces was a nice touch. Value& cost 3/5: it was a very pricey dinner especially for what it was. The ambiance is clearly elevated and stunning which contributes to this. For a nice celebratory or special occasion dinner, this is a great place! Definitely pricier than I'd normally pay for an upscale date night. Total score: 4/5 Overall, we had a lovely romantic dinner celebrating our anniversary. We sat in the court yard next to the fountain and it was a great spot. Staff were attentive and friendly-- they also brought us 2 free glasses of rosé for our celebration. We would definitely come back! I'd love to hang out at the bar next time for a more laid back experience.

An absolutely fantastic visit today…read more Our daughter is moving out of town, and for her "going-away" dinner she wanted one more visit to Cru. What a wonderful choice it turned out to be. From beginning to end, this was truly a remarkable dining experience. Every time we visit, it seems like both the food and the service continue to get even better. We had reserved a table on the outdoor patio and were seated promptly. We absolutely love the patio--its ambiance is second to none and, in our opinion, it's one of the best outdoor dining spaces in the city. This time, we decided to keep things light and ordered a selection of appetizers, a cheese board, and desserts. Since the menu changes four times a year, there's little point in listing every dish, as they'll likely be different by the time someone reads this review. A huge compliment goes to the entire kitchen staff. Every appetizer was beautifully prepared, and they even made a special zucchini blossom for our daughter, which was a wonderful surprise. A special thank you also goes to the pastry chef. The three desserts were outstanding, and the personal touch of writing "Good Luck in Chicago" in chocolate on one of the dessert plates made the evening even more memorable. We also want to recognize both sommeliers. During a previous visit, one of them had prepared an incredible house-made bar nut mix that we still talk about. We asked whether it was still available, and although he explained it was no longer on the menu, he went out of his way to prepare it for us on the spot. Our daughter absolutely loved it. Our second sommelier (whose name I unfortunately forgot) was equally wonderful. She took the time to recommend several excellent Pinot Grigios after my daughter asked for suggestions, and her knowledge and enthusiasm were greatly appreciated. Finally, a heartfelt thank you to our server, Julie, who provided warm, attentive, and professional service throughout the evening. She helped make an already special occasion even more enjoyable. As we were leaving, my daughter summed it up perfectly: "This was probably my favorite visit out of all the times we've been here." For a restaurant we've enjoyed many times over the years, that's about the highest compliment we could give. Thank you to everyone at Cru for making our daughter's farewell dinner so memorable. We wish you continued success and can't wait for our next visit.
