We were welcomed in right away. We were early so seating wasn't an issue. We chose to sit outside and enjoy the breeze. We started with mixed empanadas. Two were beef and two were shrimp and cheese. Both were delicious. We have had empanadas from Argentina. The ones from Argentina are baked in a heavier pastry while the Chilean ones are fried in a lighter pastry. Both are delicious! The pisco sour was wonderful and a bit strong for me (I'm a lightweight). I'm glad I ordered a small one. Next we ordered the mixed ceviche. Ok so here's the deal with this place, at the end of the day, it's mall food. I really wanted this place to be good, because I usually stay at the Marriott hotel across the street, and I wanted a good seafood restaurant nearby. But unfortunately this place is mediocre at best. The seafood and and the veggies are undercooked at best, which goes with the service. They are all about moving the tables. They want you out of there as soon as possible. I know that there are much better seafood restaurants in Santiago, don't waste your time here. read more

In the Parque Arauco mall alongst the American chain restaurants like TGI Fridays, PF Changs. Nice decor with a seaside theme touting that they are the amabassador of Valparaiso (seaport 60 miles away). Thought the food was great. Had a ceviche mixto with fish, shrimp and squid which was great. Also had a quinoa salad with shrimp and avocado, yummy! For some reason when I have quinoa back at home, there is an earthy taste to it. Not so with the quinoa here. Lastly had the Calldio con congrio (Conger eel fish only found in this part of the world), soup with the fish, carrots, and some potato type starch. So tasty and good! La Perla is located in the mall area and is surrounded by many American chains. So of course, it was our last lunch in Chile and we wanted something that we've never tried! I couldn't leave Chile without empanadas and these were quite tasty. We ordered scallops but got oysters. Instead of battling the language barrier, we ate the oysters - which were tasty as well. My fish portion was absolutely huge - as with most dishes in this city. Service was attentive and our check was a reasonable price for the amount that we were served. The restaurant is colorful and has a great atmosphere. The restaurant opened at noon and we were first in. Within an hour, the restaurant was packed. So either get there early, secure a reservation, or be prepared to wait. read more

Maybe I had too many expectations coming in. Maybe the setup was attractive (although the patio beach imitation idea is awful - everyone comes out with dirty shoes). Maybe it was the music. Whatever it was, I ended up having lunch at this place, and it was one of the blandest I've had in Santiago. My dish had too many onions and too little seafood. The fried oysters with cheese tasted like what you can find in an all you can eat sushi place, in North America - hardly worth the price. The service was mediocre too - we had to ask for everything, multiple times, and even then the orders were wrong (and we are all Spanish speakers, so this can't be chalked up to a language barrier). This restaurant is located in a huge mall with great nautical decorations. Plenty of seating indoors and outdoors, and some of the outdoor seats are made to look like parts of a boat. Ordered a fried fish dish with squid ink and sauteed vegetables, which was delicious! My two friends ordered a lamb dish and a fish and chips sort of thing each. They were both just OK and not particularly special. Tends to be a bit flavorless and dry. Could do a lot better with just a 10-15 minute walk from here! read more

Located in the gourmet restaurant area of an upscale mall, La Perla was somewhat hard to find. First I searched all through the interior of the mall before being pointed in the direction of the outdoor area. Next to La Perla you'll find Tony Roma's, TGI Friday's, PF Changs, and then a medley of similarly styled, but local dining options. Wanting to eat something light and healthy, I decided on a simple grilled fish from La Perla. The outdoor seating is shaded and The menu features a number of different fish options, all offered a la carte, and then you can add on other items like a salad or potato side. The Ensalada Chilena was like a pico de gallo with quartered peeled tomatoes - I enjoyed it. This paired really nicely with the fish. My Mahi Mahi was decent, well seasoned, light and not too fishy. The potatoes didn't seem freshly prepared. They had a somewhat stale consistency, but brought on good flavor from the marinated sautéed onions. Pisco sour was on point. Good lunch option. read more

I recently ate at La Perla and I can say that it was an enjoyable experience. The hostess was actually pleasant and we were seated right away. The drinks were great and the food delicious. I ordered the seafood linguine and was happy with it. My dinner, along with the empanadas and piscos sour I had made for a happy tummy. My only complaint is that when we ordered a bottle of wine with dinner it wasn't available and the server tried to serve us a more expensive bottle without letting us know. This isn't the first time this has happened to me in Chile. I guess they assume that because I'm not from here that I won't notice, however I have been to this country enough times to pay close attention to the bill and to the server. All in all it was a great dining experience and I'll probably go back again. read more

In a shopping mall entrance surrounded by PF Changs and TGI Fridays, Le Perla Del Pacifico truly is a gem. On day one in Chile, my friend and I wandered over to the shopping area on a recommendation from our Concierge at the Renaissance Hotel. We wandered over because the high concentration of restaurants, not because our stunning interest in mall food. We found Le Perla and found it plenty authentic compared to the neighbors, plus it was gorgeous outside and we were seeking patio dining. We posted up at La Perla and were very happy with our decision. The servers were english-speaking and they had the menu translated into many languages. We started with two pisco sours and were delighted with how tasty and strong they were! They still remain our favorite pisco sours from the entire trip (and trust me, we drank a lot of them)! For dinner, I ordered the quinoa and avocado side, sauteed vegetables and a chilean salad of tomatoes, onions, peppers and cilantro. B ordered the sea bass and I offered him to help me on my pleathora of sides. We started with some complimentary bread that was fine and simple. It was accompanied with a variety of dipping/spreading options including a salsa of sorts, a butter and some type of aioli. Our dinner came our in a timely fashion and we were thrilled with the large portions and delicious looking food. The quinoa could have been cooked slightly longer, but the flavor was amazing and again, the portions were generous. The sauteed vegetables were exactly what I expected and hoped for. The chilean salad was the favorite by far, with its amazing flavor and juicy, ripe tomatoes. B was very happy with his fish and also helped make a large dent on the salad. We couldn't finish all our dishes (we did however, polish off two more pisco sours...) and left very satisfied. We went back a second time this trip and has, yet again and outstanding expereince. I am sure this is not the most authentic selection, but when it's across the street and the food and drinks are this good, it's 5 stars in my books! read more

While visiting Santiago we tried La Perla del Pacifico based on our AirBnB host's recommendation. Nice atmosphere, mediocre food. Most every dish needed salt and the grilled octopus was tough and inedible. When we asked our waiter to remove it from our bill he came back with, "My manager won't let me take it off the bill but I can give you a free dessert." Expect mall quality food here. Santiago is filled with great seafood restaurants, try anyplace but La Perla. read more

I agree with Peter M., it's mall food! It's good for a mall but I would not consider this restaurant quality. I live in San Francisco so I have a higher bar than most for quality food. I began with vegetarian empanadas, which were very good. For my entree I had the sea bass which I was told the sauce runs spicy, so I chose medium. Medium was NOT spicy at all, but salty. To sum it up, if your shopping at the mall and stop in for a meal you probably won't be disappointed, if you come here for dinner expecting an experience you won't get it. read more

We went there for dinner and of course everybody got fish. The dishes are super and everybody got the right choice. Even if I do not really like fish I had a typically white fish pippin(?)
