My son had a party at this food place and we were very happy to be serviced. My son friend parents own the place so they did open it only open to his friends and other. When I tried the food by surprise it was a very good food. My son love it and play around while the parents were talking inside the restaurant. I ordered quesadillas. What I got was two store bought tortillas with a sandwich thick slice of cheese between them. That's it! The absolute worst I've ever had in my life. Frankly it's hard to believe they would actually serve that. Oh, to be fair, It did have a pinch of shredded lettuce on top (yum ). I've tried LaPaz two times (about a year apart) and each time I feel like I've wasted my time and money. Margaritas are nothing special. I would stay far away from the fish here... overheard the manager apologizing to a guest after he said it tasted nothing like grouper and she began rambling about how they got the shipment and the chef thought it "looked weird" so I'm hesitant to trust a business that puts something on the menu that they are so unsure about. We celebrated my wife's birthday at La Paz last night. Made reservations a day earlier for three out door tables, socially distanced, of course. Also dropped off a surprise birthday cake. The staff was magnificent. We were greeted and seated on time. Our drink orders and appetizers were expeditiously taken and delivered. The main course orders were taken at the same time, and then were plated at the same time, for all eleven attendees! I cannot say enough about the great service. The food was great. After the main course was completed, the staff brought out the birthday cake complete with candles, a carving knife, paper plates and utensils. Good little find here in Alabama. The setting and ambiance of the local trees, woods and neighborhood is awesome. Went on a Friday night, bad decision on our part. 1hour 10 minute wait. Music was outside at least on the hot day. Suggestion: put up a bar outside for your customers that are waiting. Install misters to keep them cool and setup a water jug/cooler for them. The food is definitely more SW or California Mexican food. Black beans, fish tacos and green chile sauce. We enjoyed the enchiladas and the girls enjoyed the beef tacos. They were not too keen on the beans and rice, but they have been pretty spot on with their choices of good/bad when it comes to beans and rice. Queso was good, chips were crisp. The wine menu was good but not vast, a bit pricey for the experience but for being in the middle of nowhere, good find. Might be a revisit spot for us. Service.......GREAT! read more

Decided to try this place after our local spot for Mexican food just wasn't cutting it anymore. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food here. Everything was fresh and tasty and not the cookie cutter premade meat slapped on n the vessel of choice at other places. My supper club went to LaPaz at Mt Laurel tonite for dinner. We were somewhat disappointed. Service was slow, to begin with, and orders weren't exactly right. The food was average. I haven't been to a LaPaz in many many years! I was excited to go because I remembered it being so good! First and most importantly the margaritas were wonderful! Not that sweet n sour mix crap! A true margarita, perfectly sweet and tart! Taco salad was excellent and the brisket tacos to die for! The queso was as good as I remembered! The service however really lacked! Our waitress had absolutely no personality. When asked a question she acted like we had asked her for her kidney! We wont let one person spoil our experience! We will definitely go back and hopefully soon! By far some of the best mexican I have eaten in a while! I would go back for just the margaritas and queso! read more

Won't be a repeat customer anymore. Although the convenience makes it super easy for us being right across the street I just can't justify the little bit of food for the money they charge. I ordered a kids nacho & added chicken(which we've ordered since they opened in Mt Laurel) & for $6+tax we got maybe 2 or 3 little cubes of chicken on each shell. Service is impeccable. Ive live in the town of Mount Laurel for a few years now. I can safely say this is the best restaurant in the area. Way better than the pizza place down the street. We had dinner at La Paz on a Friday evening. We arrived at 5:30 and were surprised with a 45 minute wait. The restaurant stayed crowded the entire time we were there. The interior of the restaurant was very loud and there wasn't enough space to wait for a seat unless we waited outside in the rain. Even the wait staff was visibly irritated by their inability to get through the crowd to deliver food. The food was good, but not fantastic. Maybe priced a little higher than I was expecting, but not too expensive. Everything we tried was very spicy. The food was delivered without a long wait and thankfully our glasses were kept full. I think I would enjoy this place more if I could go there for lunch when it was less crowded. Also, there is a nice area to sit outside, but it was raining, so we couldn't take advantage of it. I also noticed a few of the wooden patio chairs were already broken and yet they were still placed out for patrons to sit on. read more

We've made two trips now, and likely won't be back which is a shame. We would love a great Mexican restaurant in the area. On our most recent visit, my hard shell tacos blew out the bottom as soon as I picked them up. This isn't the worst problem in the world, but then the ground beef filling was absolutely tasteless as I ate my taco remains with a fork. Clearly they forgot to season the food which I find pretty much inexcusable. My wife thought her margarita was just awful. I'm at a loss for words. They've invested the money to put a restaurant here but the business is tough enough when the food is great let alone when it's bland and tasteless. Mt Laurel isn't a tourist destination. To make it here you'll need repeat business. You won't get that if the chef isn't tasting the food. read more

I called this morning to order food for Cinco de Mayo. My food was supposed to be ready at 5:30, I got here 20 minutes late, so my food SHOULD be ready. But they said it'll be another 45 minutes. Ridiculous! So I drove 20-25 minutes from downtown Birmingham for nothing? I will definitely never come back to this place! We were invited for our first trip to eat here with daughter's family. Very nice looking restaurant. Service wasn't the best and the food was okay but nothing special for the cost. Their refried beans were different than I have had at other Mexican establishments. I won't say they are bad just different. We just moved to the area and had our first chance to visit and eat last night. Wonderful experience from top to bottom. We were greeted immediately and kindly. It was fairly busy but April, our server, greeted us nearly immediately, got our drink order and offered appetizer choices with her recommendations based on my request. The spinach queso and other salsas (red and verde) were fresh and delicious. April kept our drinks full, was very sweet and engaging, knew the menu well and gave great, descriptive answers to our questions. As far as service goes, she was a breath of fresh air and top shelf. Our experience was good but it progressed to great because of our server. Sammie, the manager, came out and visited with us for awhile. She sat down in conversation with us and was awesome. It's clear the staff is fairly young and it's a new place - but they are working the kinks out quickly and Sammie is obviously coaching them up well. Again, server April was outstanding and we made sure to tell her and the manager. Great place, good, fresh food and great service!!!! 5 stars overall. read more

LaPaz was wonderful tonight. My husband and I had the fajitas. They had big slices of zucchini, onion, peppers, and other vegetables. The steak in them was very tender. For the record, I live in the area and really want La Paz to succeed. I'm hoping it resolves its issues to become as good as the location in Mt. Brook but it has a long way to go. The service was horrible the night we went. The employees weren't in a hurry to service the customers there that night. It took an hour to get our food, our waitress never checked back to see if everyone's meal was okay (one meal wasn't quite right but he ate it anyway since we couldn't find our waitress), and the manger had to refill our drinks since she noticed all of our empty glasses when she walked by.
