4.5, rounding up to 5…read more I visited Vancouver Island for the first time, without doing much food research in advance. I know, shame on me. So I stared at Google Maps and saw this place show up in a few different locations, even on the mainland. I love tacos/burritos, but don't have high expectations when it comes to this part of the U.S., especially when it comes to chains. However, since this Tacofino happened to be near where we were staying, we gave it a shot. Impressed! We were immediately greeted and given time to decide what we wanted without feeling any pressure. The place is bright, but a bit tight with seating. Most people seem to get their stuff to go anyway. We actually ate in our first time. My husband and I ordered three tacos, which came out fresh on a big platter, and they were huge! However, we were not provided with individual plates, so they handed us napkins to separate them out. I think they could improve on a solution for that. The fish taco was my favorite. It was flavorful, the breading was crispy, the meat was substantial. I could probably order this every time, once I've gone through enough of the menu. My husband loved the tuna taco. It was like seared poke, in taco form. The pork taco had great flavor, too, but it didn't wow us as much as the first two. Oh, by the way, the habanero sauce is good but is super spicy... even for people who can handle some spice. Also, I brain farted and asked for the "Valentina" salsa... thinking it was something house made. Nope, it was just packets of the same hot sauce you can buy at the store, so keep that in mind! We came another time and had other tacos, this time to go. I wasn't happy with how they PACKED two giant tacos into a tiny container, so it was really hard to tell them apart and split them up. Anyway, they were pretty good but didn't compare to the first two. From best to worst: Pork belly (it was a special), crispy chicken, pork gringa. So, the tacos were great. I don't know if I'd call them authentic but I don't care- the taste, and the portion, is what stands out. If I'm ever back on the island, I want to try their other proteins, and definitely a burrito.

Love Tacofino! It's exciting that they've now opened a new location in Langford. The tacos and…read moreburritos at Tacofino are amazing. The sauces and toppings really make the burritos and tacos special. Don't forget to grab some hot sauce with your order. I prefer the salsa verde and the habanero, it's perfect for the fish burrito. My favorites are the fish and super veg ones! The service is always great and the hosts are friendly. Love the vibes here. The food is very filling too. I would totally return and recommend this place; you won't be disappointed, it's excellent!

The quotes and license plates on the walls were good entertainment while waiting for my order. The booth seats were cozy for either a group or a solo business traveller. I ordered a coffee and The Fountain which is one of their favourites on the breakfast menu. The coffee mug is bigger than any breakfast restaurant I've been. The taste of their coffee was decent. The Fountain - 2 eggs of my preferred style, 2 slices of ham, hashbrowns and 2 pieces of multigrain toast. Their portion was very reasonable. The over medium eggs were cooked perfectly. Their ham was to my surprise thick and hearty. It's not those usual thin slices. The flavour and texture were nice. It was flavourful, but it was just a tad too salty for me. Balancing out with a bite of hashbrowm or toast was perfect. The hashbrowns were crispy on the outside and soft inside. The butter spread on the toast was evenly distributed. The server was very nice. He greeted me as soon as I walked in and asked me to sit anywhere I want. The service was fast. They have free street parking. It can be busy during peak hours. I would go back if I'm in town again.
