Flavorful Food, Attentive Service, Great Value! We walked in Sunday evening and took over the large table in front. We adopted our server, everyone ordered something different, and we shared. Our server brought a variety of sauces which took the flavorful meat to new heights. We shared the Picada a La Parrilla. It's enough for 2-4 People and hits the Meat Highlights. I think the Plantains, sausage and chicken were my favorite. My friend's favorite was the pork ( large chunks of pork belly ). We left with a box of leftovers too! The bar program is incredible! This was one of those places we kept passing, with a "I wonder how that place is . . . " until the day we went "Let's try it!" JUST GREAT! We popped in for a couple of apps and drinks. The spicy margarita was top notch - very tasty. All the cocktails were! The food - Latin restaurants worth their salt are typically great at grilled meat, and this place is no exception. So . . . TOSTONES! And WOW were they tasty. I particularly liked the sauces that went along with them - a spicy hot sauce, chimichurri and another salsa (?). No matter, they were all tangy and delicious. Empanadas - something I always love. These were great. We got a few apps, and that was enough food for two for a light dinner. The staff was really friendly, adorable and welcoming. The people who work here are just fantastic, really adds to the experience. Ambiance is great - a nice bar area, which is where I always like to sit. This was my first Columbian restaurant. It was very clean and well set up. The people were friendly and answered all my questions without the attitude that some folks give to dumb questions. I felt welcome. There were several things on the menu that were new to me, goody. Many of the items on the menu were 10% higher priced than I am used to. However I went there for the Jibarito sandwich. I had seen them discussed om WGN TV. It was priced just right for what it is. It is a sandwich that uses fried plantains instead of bread. The sandwich was very worth the visit. I had the chicken. It comes with fries but I do not eat fries. They replaced it with red beans. I lived in NOLA for a year and these beans remined me of then. They were excellent. I also had a smoothie with a fruit that is not offered in the US much. I think it was a lula? I do not go for sweet and this fruit was not quite tart but close enough. I strongly recommend that you try this place, specially if you are a vegetarian as they have an extensive offering there. read more

Comfortable seating, balanced and smoky mezcal cocktails. Great empanadas (kids loved the cheese ones). La Parilla platter was perfect for sharing, with lots of variety - Columbian sausage (kids favorite), moist chicken, pork, and steak (some bites of steak were melt in your mouth, some were much chewier), yuca fries (wonderful), sweet plantains (perfect caramelization), tostones, and white cornbread. My friend lives in Edgewater and loves this Colombian spot. He got the pollo planchado and we shared beef and chicken empanadas. He was right in saying that the beef empanadas were better. I got the sancocho, which was good. I will say it's only four stars because I have a Colombian place in Chicago that I think is better, but it is a solid spot. read more

What a gorgeous place! They have so much seating and great lighting. We tried the restaurant week menu and absolutely loved it. The food was so fresh and delicious and the sauces made it 10x better. I saw this restaurant pop up recently in the neighborhood and decided to stop in. The decor is cute and displays the Colombian culture really tastefully. The staff was kind and informative on the menu options. I got the arroz pollo and it was pretty flavorful, I enjoyed the green sauce it came with a lot. The rice was a little undercooked, but other than that it was a pretty good experience. The drinks were really good! I had a passion fruit margarita and my friend a strawberry one, YUM. They have happy hour Thursday and Friday from 4-7PM, so I will be back soon! read more

Since it opened last year, we've been probably 15+ times and never had a bad experience. The service has been great (we're even at the point where a few of the servers recognize our kids), the food is consistently excellent, and the prices are great for what you get. We also recently went to the new coffee bar next door and would highly recommend that as well. read more

We arrived early for our 5:30 reservation but our table was ready and we were greeted warmly. We ordered the appetizer assortment (empanadas, chicharon, paletas de queso, and more). which was delicious and plenty for 3. Our drinks were a white wine, a mojito and a Colombian beer. All excellent. We shared one of the dinners for two - steak, chicken, salad, French fries, tiny potatoes - which was also plenty for 3. We enjoyed all of the four salsas accompanying our meal. Service was perfect and the ambience is Latin but not too loud. Our host suggested we try a special Colombian liquor (forgot name) and it was so smooth with hints of anise. Was excited to try La Parrilla as it's just a short walk from my house. Had a wonderful dinner here tonight with two friends. I had arroz con pollo- very flavorful and hearty portion. Came with sweet plantains which complemented the dish perfectly. My friends each had a steak dish- with various sides (rice, potatoes, yucca I think). They ate everything, said it was quite good. Started with a mojito and arepas con queso and chorizo with arepa. I'm a fan of arepas and thought these were tasty. Loved the decor of the restaurant too! Friendly waitstaff. I also feel like it could have used less garlic. It had a little too much garlic for my liking.
