We were walking with no plans or reservations and found Los Arcos. It was quiet, playing football on TVs but no over powering music that prevents good conversation. The food was great. Flavorful, authentic. We ordered Carne Asada and Pollo en Mole. We also ordered Chips and salsa as an appetizer. The staff were attentive. The decor and quiet place made us love it more. I really liked my meal here. I gobbled it down without breathing. The quesabirria would be better with consomé. That's just a universal truth. The chicken rings tacos however? Those were juicy and delicious in their own right. I was initially offput but how small the guacamole seemed, but there was a good bit in there!! Tamarind marg was the best. I really like this place! Some of my fave dishes: their pozole verde, the birria ramen, and their chipotle chicken pasta. I know what you're thinking, "who gets pasta at a Mexican spot?" Trust me. This is something else. A delicious, spicy twist to some pasta. They put corn in it and it's so good. They always bring it out piping hot and fresh! They also have a live DJ Friday nights. I've been a regular for about a year and a half. I really enjoy their birria tacos. That being said, they've let me down a few times. I've brought my mom who lives out of town twice and both times they've disappointed. My mom and I love Mexican food so I wanted to bring her to my go-to place. First time they were out of birria. I came to eat with my best friend. Our other original spot was closed so we continued walking down in hopes of finding Mexican cuisine. We find this spot and asked guests leaving the established if their food was good and they both raved about their recent experience. Anywho, tacos were honestly no flavor, we ordered tacos de barbacoa, al pastor, asada and Tinga de pollo. William, our server was great and we had cocktails. I didn't drink the cucumber cocktail and I was very polite and told William that I would like to go back to my original strawberry frozen margarita. Los Arcos Mexican Restaurant - Clark Street, Chicago I've been to Los Arcos a few times in the past and usually had a decent experience, but something seems to have changed recently. The interior still looks nice and inviting, and I was seated promptly, which I appreciated. However, I noticed my water cup had a stain on it--probably a one-off, but still worth noting. I was also surprised to learn that chips and salsa are no longer complimentary. That's their choice, but it definitely changes the experience a bit. I ordered the 3 steak taco dinner. Unfortunately, the steak was quite tough, and by the time I got to my second taco, the food had gone cold. I also ordered chips separately, and they didn't taste fresh at all. I want to support this spot because I've had good visits here before, but this last visit left me disappointed. I hope they can get back to the quality and service I remembered. read more

Pickup Order: Steak Torta, Chorizo Burrito, Rice, Beans. Tortas and burritos are fine, not much meat is put into them but the flavors are okay. Rice and Chips we got were clearly from yesterday, chips were extremely stale and the rice is completely flavorless and pale. Definitely nothing to be proud of. We never got our order of Beans we instead got a tub filled up with mayonnaise, we called for a refund and were denied any refunds, even though we were given a tub of mayo. Okay, I can't stop talking about this place. Feeling lazy on a Saturday, we ordered AGAIN from here. Always delivered FAST and HOT! Pozole Verde: I just went ahead and got two orders, I love this stuff THAT MUCH. Two days later, I'm still noshing on it 'cos one order is really enough for two meals for one. Delicious, rich, mellow broth with juicy chunks of meat and hominy that "pops" when you chew it. The garnish they send with an order of this soup (cut up lettuce, radishes, onions, peppers and jalapenos, all seasoned) is enough for a bonus small salad, even after you get done garnishing your delicious soup! Tacos: Steak tacos with avocado sauce, onions and cilantro. DELICIOUS. Perfect size, savory and . . . I love them. Chimichanga with spicy pork: My BF had this, and I didn't hear a WORD while he was devouring, it was really tasty. And GIANT. I maintain that it's enough for two meals, later while he was lying on the sofa burping, the BF concurred. Silky beans and a nice blob of rice included. The spicy pork was really tasty, I had a bite, and it was perfectly seasoned. Chips: a really generous order of chips is included, and they are still crispy and delicious two days later! Place is AOK. Food generally tastes the way it is supposed to without wowing anyone. The birria dishes are 4 star and so is the Michelada. The chicken dishes are all ok. The salsas you get with your food are all way too spicy. I think the spice level gave our entire party GI problems last time we went, or at least I like to think it was the spice and not the food itself. Haven't been there enough times to tell. The marinated pork is decidedly not good. The patio is fun, but gets a bit too crowded if they let more than one person with a dog in. read more

I was recently back in the Andersonville neighborhood with my wife and daughter visiting family when we had a craving for Mexican food. Los Arcos was convenient and was brightly decorated on a gray and chilly evening, so we couldn't resist. Loved the food here and the service was excellent, even with our large group of nine people. Portions were filling and served hot and our drinks never went dry. The one thing I didn't care for was the restaurant's location next to a tire store. The scent of rubber tended to occasionally overtake the delicious cooking going on in the kitchen. read more

I was definitely unfair in my first review. I think that we just came here on an off night. We have come back several times and service, food, and everything has been fantastic! The waitress (who seems to be there most nights and we have had her all but 2 times) is super cheery and friendly, and always has quick service with a smile. The food is always great and the prices cannot be beat. Plus, it's BYOB, and that is obviously a huge perk. It's become our go-to Mexican! Recently, my friends and I went to this restaurant and was treated so poorly that we had to leave. The moment we walked through the door, the staff person that met us acted as if we were intruding on her personal time. When we asked to sit on the patio, she instructed us that we could, but we couldn't have alcohol. When we asked for clarification, she rolled her eyes and pointed to a table and said, "You can sit there." There were 4 of us, and she would only give us one menu. She continued to be rude and rolled her eyes, and walked away. I understand some may laugh at this post or ignore it, but customer service is important to the restaurant industry. Luckily, we went to another restaurant and received amazing service. There are many places to choose from, and if you can't give good customer service, you will fail. I will never go back to this restaurant and will tell anyone who asks about it to choose another place. It's not worth the attitude. read more
