I took my mom, sister and aunt here for my mom's birthday for us to all get the Buff & Polish facial. They can only do two facials at a time so we went two at a time. The Buff & Polish facial was 1. a great introductory facial and 2. a relaxing, thoughtful facial that was tailored to our specific skin types. I had Karen for my facial who was really personable, positive and sweet. I asked her multiple questions about my skin care routine throughout the facial, to which she was really helpful in answering. It was a fantastic facial with a little bit of extraction, and we all left with our skin looking and feeling great and clear. While me and my aunt waited to go, we sat in the quiet lobby and had tea. Had a 90 minute signature massage with Betsy before my haircut. It was very relaxing, evidenced by the fact I fell asleep during it. Followed up my massage with haircut with Becky. I've been going to Becky for over 10 years for hair and color. I'm never disappointed when I leave and she has a wide range to meet my varying moods from funky blond highlights to a sophisticated bob to show off my natural Asian hair. So glad she's back in the mainline and at Cole. There's never more than 2 stylists which just adds to the relaxing experience at Cole. read more

I went to Cole Wellness Spa twice before my wedding to make sure I was comfortable with their waxing techniques etc. I have gotten many waxes over the years in the city and never had any problems with getting burnt (and was not on any medication that could cause skin sensitivity). I went the first time for an underarm wax and a Brazilian wax and both were good. The owner convinced me to come in one more time the week of the wedding and do one more wax under my arms just so that I wouldn't have to shave at all before the wedding. Huge mistake. She burned the crap out of my underarms and I was wearing a strapless dress. I called my makeup artist in tears asking if she'd be able to use makeup on my underarms to cover the burns. (Unfortunately makeup would have transferred onto the white dress so we decided against it.) My underarms were so red and so uncomfortable. I called the salon back and they assured me it'd be gone for the wedding day, gave me a cream and refunded me the underarm wax... I'm not sure how they could assure something like that. Needless to say, it was not even close to gone for my wedding day and actually lasted all the way through the honeymoon as well. I was so embarrassed and so angry about the whole experience that I will never go back. I should not have let the owner up sell me either which I completely regret. I went in for a cut and color from Rebecca, and could not be more disappointed in the results and the service I was given by both she and her manager, Kristi. I was there for almost three and a half hours and she saw another customer from start to finish while my head was HALF done and I was just sitting under the dryer. I was given no explanation of what was going on, and her manager Kristi acted like nothing was wrong. Halfway through the appointment, I hear her mutter "Oh this isn't turning out right." Other than that she horrible at communicating or asking about what I wanted. She didn't seem to care that I was nervous, and my attempts to make conversation and ask about what she was doing fell on deaf ears, as she gave lame one-worded responses. After three and a half hours, I asked for a rough blow dry because I was running late. When i got home and my hair and fully dried, I was horrified by the results. I had asked for "natural, summery" highlights but had yellow-blonde streaks that stood out and did not blend in with the rest of my dark brown hair. I called the next day to express my concern and again was not given any respectful service. Rebecca called me back and didn't even apologize, explain what had happened, or have anything to say for herself. When I explained my situation, I was met with silence...and then having to say, "So is there anything I can do...??" to which she replied by scheduling another appointment to fix the pieces that were overly blond. However, I canceled the appointment because I feel I will no longer take my business there. Overall, don't waste your time and money at a salon where they do not care about or respect their customers. read more

I cannot express how upset I am about my hair appointment that I had earlier today. What was supposed to be a relaxing and enjoyable experience turned out to be incredibly painful, frustrating, and extremely unpleasant. I specified that I only wanted to get my roots touched up and did not want to get my hair toned because it was much too expensive for my liking. So my stylist began touching up my roots and I can't begin to tell you how painful it was. It felt like my hair was literally being ripped out of my head!!! My eyes teared up more than half the time!! It was so unpleasant and on top of the pain, later in the appointment I found out that my hair was being pulled so hard that my necklace must have gotten snagged and it broke. I was so upset about it. After she finished touching up my roots and my hair was finished under the dryer, it was time to get my hair washed. My hair getting washed was extremely unpleasant. Water from the sink was going all down my shirt throughout the whole wash, and so many bubbles and soap went into my ear I couldn't even hear out of it. My stylist gave me a towel to clean it out myself. Then she got more soap in it again. I began feeling extremely frustrated and was thankful the appointment was almost over. After my hair was washed, my stylist left for a moment and returned with a bottle full of liquid. I assumed this was a shampoo, so when she began putting it in my hair I asked "oh what is this? Is this a toning shampoo?" That is when my stylist replied "no it's a toner." I DID NOT WANT A TONER! There goes another $85-90 on to my tab!! I replied back "wait I said did not want a toner!" and my stylist insisted that I "needed it." It's my hair, if I say I do not want something in my hair, DO NOT PUT IT IN MY HAIR!!! I don't care if I "need" the toner or not, I said I did not want toner!! Well, it was too late at that point. It was in my hair so there was nothing I could do. She was getting the toner ALL over me and all over the floor, thank goodness I was wearing a robe because my clothes would have been ruined from the blobs of toner. I felt at that point I was going to cry. All I wanted to get was my roots to touched up. I am a graduate student trying to save up for rent, the last thing I want to do is spend half a month's worth of rent on my hair. After the toner was complete she washed my hair and once again, water went all down my back and soap into my ears. I was counting down the minutes for it to be over at that point. I have had my hair done several times before, so am aware that getting my hair dried costs extra. When I went over to the chair my stylist immediately began drying my hair without asking me if thats what I wanted to get done. I spoke up and told her I did not wanted it dried, and thank goodness I did because she most likely would have dried my whole head. I refused to not let any more money be added to my bill that I did not consent to. In the end my bill was $160, and I had to leave a tip on top of it, so $175 out of my pocket. I did not plan on spending that much at all, I did not even have enough cash with me so had to put the rest on my card. I had called a day before to double check prices and was told getting a root touch up was $75. At the spa during my appointment my stylist explained that because my hair was lighter, getting my roots touched up would be more expensive. I wish I was notified that when I called!!!!! I would have not gone to this spa if I knew how much money was snuck onto the bill!!! I planned on spending $90 total that day, and my bill was practically doubled. This was the WORST hair experience I have ever had. I feel like my money was completely stolen and robbed from me. I cried the whole drive home. read more

I had my hair highlighted by Sandi this week and took in a pair of extensions I wanted her to match my hair to. When I left I thought it looked great. When my hair is down it looks like the dirty blonde I was wanting. However, when my hair is up in a pony tail the highlights are uneven in width and starting place. They are also yellow rather than blonde underneath. So when I pull my hair back it looks really uneven and unnatural. I called to get it fixed, whether that be toning or adding extra highlight, whatever needed to be done to fix it. The receptionist was very sweet and said they'd fix it for me for free. However, Sandi said she would not. Sandi called me hardly letting me get a word in telling me it was my fault that she matched the highlights perfectly to the extensions. I tried to tell her that when my hairs down it looks great and yes they match that's not the problem, the problem is that when you pull the hair back the underside of my hair does not match the top. I call it 90s boy band streaks. Bottom line is, Sandi would not fix it without charging me again which I think is unacceptable. I was fully prepared to leave a large tip for her time I just don't want to pay $150+ again for yellow streaks in my hair. I would recommend Ame over Cole Wellness Spa for hair color and customer service. read more

Went in to look at Jane Iredale makeup, as they are the only ones who carry it even remotely close to where I live. Reeptionist was very friendly and let me use any of the brushes, sponges, etc. to try on whatever I liked to try and find my color. Then when I needed helped Lisa, the esthetician, came out to help me for 30 minutes no charge. After making my purchase, I went back because I wasn't sure about the color and again Lisa helped me find a good match. She was incredibly friendly, gracious, and knowledgable. I can't speak for the services here but if you are looking for a makeup consultation and/or friendly spa staff, this is the place for you. read more

Had a horrible experience at this spa. Massage therapist told me that the spirit of my dead mother was in the room, wouldn't stop "channeling" despite my request. Very sad experience at Cole Hair Salon with stylist Sandy. I was looking for platinum natural looking highlights. At first attempt of the stylist I was left with 2-3 thick streaks on my head. As I expressed my concern in a very calm polite manner, the stylist was interrupting blaming me, my hair and everything else except for her skills. After a long speech she finally offered to add more highlights, but did it with an attitude, pulling and jerking my hair. I left with damaged over-processed hair, orange roots, green ends and a big hole in my pocket. And I don't mention the emotional toll. This is a wonderful package you get for only $260! Maybe it's time to start coloring my hair at home: even if I get the color wrong - at least no one will disrespect and rob me :) read more

Just came from my 2nd visit . Really great atmosphere! Lauren is wonderful ! The 1st time there I had my hair cut and she did a fabulous job. Had many compliments after! This time I wanted to try the natural hair color. Lauren took her time and my hair looks beautiful if I do say so myself! I am very blonde with low lights. The environment is nice and it's easy access if you live in town Wayne. However, Sandi cut my hair and I asked only for one thing: I like my bangs swept to the side so do not cut them shorter than here (and I held my finger across my brow). She cut them well shorter than where I indicated, disregarding both what I said and what I showed her. I have never written a bad review before but feel obligated to warn people about Rebecca. I went to Cole Wellness Spa to finish shaping a haircut I got somewhere else. I chose Cole Wellness because it had excellent reviews for hair cutting and I know someone has her hair cut there. I was clear when I made the appointment and when I spoke to Rebecca in person. I was not looking for a new look I just wanted my bangs shaped and some layers - texture - on my sides which were too weighty. Rebecca said she leave the sides long enough to "put behind your ears" and "leave the back length to give you movement at the chin." I said "perfect". She proceeded to cut over 2 inch off the length and then kept going. While cutting she was murmuring, "your hair has a mind of its own" "its not doing what I want it to." At the end I walked out with a very short very layered cut. There is no movement at chin length because there is no hair at chin length. There is no tucking the sides behind my ears because the longest layer barely reaches my ear. She did tell me that "by Thanksgiving you will see how nice it is growing in." Thanksgiving - 5 months - for me to see how nice it was going to grow. I have had short layered hair on and off my whole adult life. I actually like short hair but this is not even a good haircut. This is a butcher job. Rebecca should not be allowed to have scissors in her hands. read more

I got a gift card here and was not pleased in the end. I was satisfied with the work that they did but on 2 occasions when I was in there there were 2 unhappy customers in to have their hair redone. My problem was with their pricing and communication. I was in 3 times. Once with Mackenzie and the next 2 times with Sandy. After the 2nd time I got a call that they had not charged me correctly and I owed more. Something I found incredibly tacky but wrote it off, it was a gift card after all. I wasn't planning to go back after I had used my money. I should have called back but with 2 small children it's hard for me to have an adult conversation so I will take that as my own fault. On my third visit I was asked after my color if I wanted my hair blow dried out. At my usual place they do it without extra charge. It turns out that when I went to check out I was charged a surprise $30 for my blow dry and another $50 from my second visit! I kept my cool but asked about the incredibly high fee for an 8 minute blow dry. I was told by Sandy that she had asked me if I wanted a blow dry and I said yes (which is true). I have long hair so she charged me an additional fee for the color and more for the blow dry. I suggested that she be more upfront about the high fee and she walked away. I paid my high bill and walked out never to return. read more

I rarely feel compelled to write reviews but I had such a fantastic experience, that I HAD to say something about how awesome Rebecca was. I called for a haircut on a Monday morning and was able to get an appointment later that day. The staff are kind and courteous. Rebecca gave me one of the best haircuts I have ever had. She took her time washing and cutting my hair and meticulously checked and rechecked to make sure everything was even and that my hair laid well. She even educated me on how my hair curves naturally to one side due to the way hair grows. Rebecca is very funny and genuine so chatting with her while she cut my hair was very natural and wasn't forced. I usually consider the best test of a good haircut is what it looks like after I have showered and blowdried without too much styling. Well, for my haircut with Rebecca, my hair looked fantastic even after I showered and it was no longer styled. The technique that she used just makes it lay naturally and beautifully. She is incredibly talented and I highly recommend her! I think I will even take her advice and see if there are any openings for a massage! read more

Worst salon I have ever been too. I am a Villanova Student and I would rather the 4 year old I babysit dye my hair and interact with me over the lady that ruined my hair. Sandy is by far the most ignorant stylist I have ever encountered. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. She was unkind and rude during the entire appointment. I was told by the receptionist partial highlights and a cut would take about 2 hours, Sandy had me out in 70 minutes.... My highlights look like garbage and my hair is now different colors. She ripped a full brush through my hair, breaking more hair than she cut. She would whip my head back and forth and didn't even bother to try to converse with me... Once my 70 minutes in her chair was up, I was informed i was being charge 165$. After I fled that appointment, unhappy that my hair was two DIFFERENT colors, I decided to let it sit for about 48 hours, let myself cool down. I called the salon and expressed my disappointment and asked for my color to be fixed. I was incredibly unhappy to have paid so much for such a disappointing color, cut and overall experience. I asked to be paired with a different stylist to fix my color and the receptionist was very kind and scheduled me in. She then called me back stating that in order to have it done free of charge I would have to go back to Sandy. (WTF)! So I called back and explained to the receptionist what happened and why I am unhappy to have to work with this woman again. Then she called me back and said Sandy was going to call me to discuss everything. Sandy left me a message in which she was very pleasant and willing to fix my hair, however she had me confused with another client (WTF). So I call back again and Sandy was put on the phone. She was very pleasant, but was going on about how I worked with someone else in the salon prior to her and how she put lowlights in my hair (both were untrue). When I then corrected her about who I actually was her attitude spun a complete 180. She became the biotch that she was when I was sitting in her chair. She told me she put "like a million foils" in my hair and the girl that dyed my hair prior was the one that messed it up and she would not fix it for me. So when I was thus obviously taken aback, I asked again, so there is nothing you can do? and she said no and hung up on me. THATS A+ CUSTOMER SERVICE FOLKS. I called back YET AGAIN and asked to be directed to the manager immediately, the receptionist knew it was me calling again and apologized on behalf of Sandy, saying she could not believe that woman spoke to me like that. She ensured me that her manager would call me and work this all out, so I said okay and went about my day. Manager calls at about 4pm. She asks me what happened and after I go through this whole story, she begins to defend her staff. I was absolutely not being accusatory, but letting her know how disgruntled I was with the unprofessional encounters I had. I share the same sentiment as the reviewer Camille B. from Bryn Mawr, PA. I do want to compliment the salon for its ambiance, cleanness and variety of natural products, especially organic hair dyes. I am just not happy with how my highlights turned out twice. I asked Rebecca to create light highlights, and she assured me I will love it. Well, I came out of the salon with yellow, brassy hair, which I literally hate. I wanted to give it a try with another employee, so I went to Sandy thinking she'll be able to give me decent light highlights but again, no such luck. Not only the color was not what I asked for, the entire job was the worst I have ever gotten! 30% of the foil slid down my hair (front right, middle left and back right) so you can see 1/2" unhighlighted hair! Wow! For a professional, that is embarrassing. I can no longer trust them with my hair and will have to find another place which uses organic hair dyes. What a pity, because the salon is very nice, and I hear lots of compliments when it comes to other services. read more
