I want to preface this review by saying I've been a client at John Andrews Salon for over 10 years…read more(had fabulous haircuts in high school, even had my prom hair done there but then took breaks due to college and living in NYC for a while). Then and now, the staff is always friendly, attentive, and professional. One day during quarantine, I stumbled across the John Andrews Salon Instagram page and as I scrolled through, I fell in love with the posts of stylist Michelle Daly's hair transformations. I clicked her profile and within a minute I was direct messaging her to set up an appointment. She is, deservedly so, in high demand so I booked her next open spot (a month later). And let. Me. Tell. You. The wait was worth it!! She took my raggedy grown out balayage and gave me the blonde bombshell highlights I had dreamed of. If you've ever gotten highlights, you know the process takes hours. Michelle was great and kept me informed of every step along the way (how much longer the dye needed, when/why she was adding toner, what products she used during my blowout, etc.) Unfortunately I forget Michelle's assistant's name but she was also amazing. Looking forward to my next appt! COVID safety note: upon arrival, clients waited outside until their name was called. Once inside, temperatures are taken. Every other salon chair was used and hair wash stations were separated by plexi glass.

After reading through good yelp reviews, I decided to give John Andrews a try. I made an…read moreappointment with Adriana, one of the more experienced stylists on staff, and was not disappointed! I was hesitant on the price as the services are priced by stylist experience but she was worth the money! She was professional, courteous, and sweet! The salon was clean and inviting. All of the stylists seemed friendly and the front desk staff was very helpful. Took off one star because the shampoo bowls are SO uncomfortable. I've never found a salon that had one that wasn't slightly uncomfortable, but this is one of the worst I've ever used. The back of my neck and head today is bruised to the touch from the bowl. The stylist that shampoo'd my hair did a great job and it was nothing to do with her work! Just super painful while your neck is bent back. Hopefully someone can create a padded bowl for salons to use!

Day 1 Two of my friends recommended microblading to me…read more I got impulsive, I saw a groupon and called the artist Jackie whose phone number was on the groupon page. She said I could go in on the same day at "Salon d'artist" in Wayne PA . She is very personable and I liked her. She gave me an hour of service. I was happy with the result and venmoed her the groupon price $240 (as friends and family so she didn't need to pay fees). I was planning to tip her at the second touch up service. Jackie gave me instructions to apply aquaphor every couple of hours and take lukewarm showers. Jackie also told me that 40% of my microblading color would be gone and there was no need to worry. She would fix everything for me with a follow up touch up service which usually takes 10-20 minutes I followed Jackie's instructions of applying aquaphor every couple of hours and didn't take a shower until day 4. Day 4: When I got up I was upset to see a big piece of scalp peeled off my eyebrow without any color left . I sent a picture to Jackie right away and she said my skin was too dry. I explained the picture was taken right after I got up from bed . She said she would fix it. I said Thank you and told her I would start taking lukewarm showers. After I took my shower, while applying aquaphor, a lot more scalps fell off from my eyebrows. I texted Jackie, she said it's too much scabbing. Day 8 My eyebrows became ugly. Too much color was gone. I would say compared to day one 80% of the color has been gone. I texted Jackie the photos and said I was extremely upset with the result and it shouldn't be like that. I said I didn't want the touchup service and asked for a $200 partial refund . Jackie said she would get back to me later. I said I would wait until the next day. Day 9 I texted Jackie for an answer and she got back to me. She kindly took consideration of my pain during the first service and agreed the second touch up service wouldn't work for me. She said she would need to talk to the salon Manager JoAnn and possibly partially refund me. She asked me to wait 3 or 4 days as JoAnn was on vacation. Day 14 I asked Jackie whether she talked to her manager. Jackie asked me to call JoAnn . I called JoAnn , her only words to me were "We wouldn't do anything for you unless you came in". So we made an appointment. Day 20 I arrived on time for the appointment. Jackie was having clients. JoAnn and I briefly went over the whole thing in the waiting area. She said she would look at my eyebrows at Jackie's room when Jackie became available as the waiting area was too dark. About about 30 minutes' wait, Jackie, JoAnn and I had the discussion. Here is the summary of our arguments: JoAnn and Jackie didn't deny my eyebrow result was bad. JoAnn and Jackie said it's normal to have bad results after the first service and sometimes it might take 2 or 3 times of the touch up service. . JoAnn insisted that I wouldn't let them finish the service so she would not refund me. I insisted that I wasn't warned that the first time service result could be this bad and I was expecting better results and the touch up is mostly to repair small areas. In my case if the touch up is supposed to fix it, it would take much more time than the first time service and it might even take two trips . I do not want to go through the same process again: being questioned about not applying enough aquaphor, and looking at my mirror every day and getting upset. At the end, I made it clear to JoAnn that I didn't ask for a full refund. Since I didn't want the touch up service which probably would take much longer than the first time service, why wouldn't she refund me partially? She said she would get back to me. Day 21 JoAnn hasn't got back to me. I have to mention Jackie is always nice. She never dodged my messages. She kindly offered to clean up my eyebrows (remove residual ink in some areas as it's too ugly). JoAnn seems to be a charming person despite being scary on the phone. It's just this experience is too disappointing for me and it took so much of my time and my energy. ------------ editing to add: Late in the afternoon, JoAnn sent me an email but she twisted many details in the email. I cleared up her misstatements in my reply. ----------- editing to add: Even the transaction happened initially between me and Jackie, when Jackied asked me to deal with JoAnn, out of respect for Jackie I didn't pressure Jackie. JoAnn challenged me to go to BBB or a local court. I did go to BBB. Then Jackie started to harrass my company saying I am malicious? I finally realized Jackie wasn't innocent as I thought she was. She is complicit.

Due to lack of things to do, I've really dug deep to finish these drafts of venues that aren't just…read morein another city from the past, but also places that don't even exist anymore. Ame thankfully still stands right near the Wayne train station off Lancaster Avenue (Route 30). This was where I officially started committing to a hair stylist. My beginnings with Ame was when they were known as Pastore over in King of Prussia, and of course I followed them over to Wayne later on down the line. Here, they obviously expanded by offering more treatments which I was able to take advantage of. Back then, the upstairs area had the treatment rooms for massages, facials, etc. There was a really cool thing they offered which made one feel as though they were floating; might have even been called 'Float'. During downtime while there, one of the girls let me get in and try it out, and other than the sound of the device whirring up as it inflated, you felt weightless. The wave-designed Japanese soaking tub sounded amazing, but if you're on the smaller side, this wasn't very comfortable as you tried staying afloat in the large tub. This floor also had the locker room with the steam shower, relaxation area, and nail room. During this time, the upper loft area had a very calm atmosphere, and was used mostly for private parties. I even had a makeup application here once which was pretty good, and I still have the eyeshadow brush to this day, so the quality held up pretty well. But what I really came for was for their hair stylists. Best of all, I just recently checked out their site and the girl who cut my hair still works here! Quite rare when you see someone in the same space so many years later, but I'm glad Brandy is still doing an amazing job in her area of expertise. I recall the last haircut I had here was actually from another girl; Brandy might have been on her honeymoon at this time but I remember I was sad I had missed her. If I'm ever in this area and in need of a haircut, I am making sure I get to see her to make up for lost time. Tried Calista Grand, Toppers (do they even still exist?) and other well-known spas in the area, and I'm glad to see my favorite Ame is still around.

However, the person answering the phone was extremely rude and unpleasant. She even accused me of lying. As someone representing the salon on the phone, this turned me off for making any future appointments with them. The massage therapists and hair stylists are great. It's a shame that the person at the front desk can't be kind and pleasant.
