Day 1 Two of my friends recommended microblading to me. I got impulsive, I saw a groupon and called the artist Jackie whose phone number was on the groupon page. She said I could go in on the same day at "Salon d'artist" in Wayne PA . She is very personable and I liked her. She gave me an hour of service. I was happy with the result and venmoed her the groupon price $240 (as friends and family so she didn't need to pay fees). I was planning to tip her at the second touch up service. Jackie gave me instructions to apply aquaphor every couple of hours and take lukewarm showers. Jackie also told me that 40% of my microblading color would be gone and there was no need to worry. She would fix everything for me with a follow up touch up service which usually takes 10-20 minutes I followed Jackie's instructions of applying aquaphor every couple of hours and didn't take a shower until day 4. Day 4: When I got up I was upset to see a big piece of scalp peeled off my eyebrow without any color left . I sent a picture to Jackie right away and she said my skin was too dry. I explained the picture was taken right after I got up from bed . She said she would fix it. I said Thank you and told her I would start taking lukewarm showers. After I took my shower, while applying aquaphor, a lot more scalps fell off from my eyebrows. I texted Jackie, she said it's too much scabbing. Day 8 My eyebrows became ugly. Too much color was gone. I would say compared to day one 80% of the color has been gone. I texted Jackie the photos and said I was extremely upset with the result and it shouldn't be like that. I said I didn't want the touchup service and asked for a $200 partial refund . Jackie said she would get back to me later. I said I would wait until the next day. Day 9 I texted Jackie for an answer and she got back to me. She kindly took consideration of my pain during the first service and agreed the second touch up service wouldn't work for me. She said she would need to talk to the salon Manager JoAnn and possibly partially refund me. She asked me to wait 3 or 4 days as JoAnn was on vacation. Day 14 I asked Jackie whether she talked to her manager. Jackie asked me to call JoAnn . I called JoAnn , her only words to me were "We wouldn't do anything for you unless you came in". So we made an appointment. Day 20 I arrived on time for the appointment. Jackie was having clients. JoAnn and I briefly went over the whole thing in the waiting area. She said she would look at my eyebrows at Jackie's room when Jackie became available as the waiting area was too dark. About about 30 minutes' wait, Jackie, JoAnn and I had the discussion. Here is the summary of our arguments: JoAnn and Jackie didn't deny my eyebrow result was bad. JoAnn and Jackie said it's normal to have bad results after the first service and sometimes it might take 2 or 3 times of the touch up service. . JoAnn insisted that I wouldn't let them finish the service so she would not refund me. I insisted that I wasn't warned that the first time service result could be this bad and I was expecting better results and the touch up is mostly to repair small areas. In my case if the touch up is supposed to fix it, it would take much more time than the first time service and it might even take two trips . I do not want to go through the same process again: being questioned about not applying enough aquaphor, and looking at my mirror every day and getting upset. At the end, I made it clear to JoAnn that I didn't ask for a full refund. Since I didn't want the touch up service which probably would take much longer than the first time service, why wouldn't she refund me partially? She said she would get back to me. Day 21 JoAnn hasn't got back to me. I have to mention Jackie is always nice. She never dodged my messages. She kindly offered to clean up my eyebrows (remove residual ink in some areas as it's too ugly). JoAnn seems to be a charming person despite being scary on the phone. It's just this experience is too disappointing for me and it took so much of my time and my energy. ------------ editing to add: Late in the afternoon, JoAnn sent me an email but she twisted many details in the email. I cleared up her misstatements in my reply. ----------- editing to add: Even the transaction happened initially between me and Jackie, when Jackied asked me to deal with JoAnn, out of respect for Jackie I didn't pressure Jackie. JoAnn challenged me to go to BBB or a local court. I did go to BBB. Then Jackie started to harrass my company saying I am malicious? I finally realized Jackie wasn't innocent as I thought she was. I was looking for a salon in the area that does waxing, and thanks to an old Q&A post on Yelp, I was able to find this place. This was my first bikini wax (omg, OUCH--I am not even kidding, which is worse, this or getting tattooed? go somewhere that uses ceripil wax), and it all went well. Ellie was really friendly and seemed genuinely sorry for the agony she was putting me through. Fast and seemed inexpensive, at $30 pre-tip. As I'm sure anyone who does this knows already, you have to be very specific about what you want, or you may end up with a different 'do than you were expecting! I only walked thru the main part of the salon to the treatment rooms in back, but it looked like your typical upscale salon. Front-desk staff were all very pleasant. If I need to be tortured--I mean, get waxed again, I would go back. Oh, and can the 15 year old in me just giggle for a minute about the idea of getting a bikini wax in Spread Eagle Village? tee hee, hee hee. OK, sorry--just had to get that out of my system! OK, so I was on my way to Braxton's--a fancy pet store in Wayne--and discovered that this place has made a liar outta me: they changed the name of the place to Golden Eagle Village or some such. I highly recommend Chrissy, a Master Colorist, and David, my Hair Stylist, at Salon d'Artiste. Both are extremely talented, attentive to my concerns, and provide suggestions to meet my personal needs. Chrissy has been my colorist for over ten years and is amazing at using foil highlights and low lights to create a complimentary look, and to meet my new needs at covering gray. I have curly hair that does not lay properly and becomes frizzy and unmanageable if not cut correctly by someone with experience. I rarely cut my hair due to anxiety from a history of bad cuts and receiving trims lacking style from other salons. I can honestly say that after receiving a haircut from David, my hair looks so much better than it has in years. He created a stylish look, complimenting my face and appearance. In fact, my daughter who lives in Philadelphia will now be switching to David as her hair stylist and to Salon d'Artiste. read more

Horrible and unprofessional . This management team has no customer service skills at all. I had my nails done by Vinny. I was excited to find a good salon to start going to get my nails done. My friend recommended this place. I was told it was $60 for gel nails. He did a special holographic powder on my nails. I was charged $20 in addition to the service. I was not told up front this would be an additional charge. In total it was $95.00 Vinnie was friendly at the time of service and even offered his private number to call if I have any issues. He told me to ask my friend for the number. I did and she said he reused. What? Why offer this at all if you did not mean it? My nails were not good. 2 days later the tips faded and and the holographic powder wore off. I took pics to document them, I called the salon and all they wanted to do is argue with me. They gave me the run around, kept passing me off to other people. Days later Vinnie calls back and puts me on hold and hands the phone off . He will not address any issues with me. . He was rude and unwilling to help. The salon team and management have no professional skills. They even hung up on me. I have been going to Salon D'Artiste for many years for their 1/2 and full days of beauty, which are now called Mini Day of Pampering (1/2) & Day of Luxury (full). This is the most wonderful service you could possibly treat yourself to short of a vacation at a spa or a beautiful beach getaway. Not only does Salon D'Artiste include every service you could possibly desire for a day of complete and utter relaxation at an astonishingly reasonable price, ($207 for the 1/2 day and $312 for the full, which is cheaper than any other upscale salon in all of suburban Philly including the city itself -- I did my research) they include lunch complete with a glass of champagne, to boot. Terri will give you the best massage (to your specifications) you have ever had in your life, literally, last time I was practically floating off the table. And both of the estheticians that perform the facials are wonderful as well. I thought I died and went to heaven when (can't remember her name, whether it was Ellie or the other lady) my facialist gave me the neck and shoulder massage--Oooh it was incredible!!! Just thinking about it I want to set up an appointment for tomorrow. I am telling you, you must set up an appointment at Salon D'Artiste now. Don't hesitate for a moment. I went in to the salon to fix my color that was off from another salon. The stylist put a toner on my hair that made it the wrong shade. I said it looked brassy to the stylist. I let management know the next day. They did not accept responsibility and did not offer to help fix my hair. I went to Currie where they shampooed my hair out and did some treatments for a very low cost, they were very helpful. Their customer service is very negative if you happen to not like how they did your hair. I removed my previous review from Yelp as they consistently kept contacting my family member for it to be taken down. It was a stressful experience for us. This rating has nothing to do with Linda Burns. I have been going to Salon d' Artiste for many years to have Manicures and Pedicures and to have my hair cut. I now only come to the salon for a rare treat to get my nails done for a special event. I received and invitation to a party and, so I wanted to get a Manicure and Pedicure with Linda. She does an outstanding job whenever I come to her for my service. What I didn't like about my visit was that the epitome of my relaxing salon experience was greatly disturbed when a salon associate spent a great amount of their time on their cellphone nearby. In most Salons the usage of personal phones is not allowed. I've been going to Salon d'Artiste for many years now, every time I am in the area. The atmosphere seems upscale, but it's very unpretentious at the same time. Every time I get there everyone is super welcoming, friendly and down to eart. I had my hair done many times from different stylist. I love Nicole though, she really gets you and does not over cut. Also she did a great job with my ombre blonde (and she is fast!). Wax experts Sherry and Ellie are superb. They really are meticulous and know what they are doing. This is my 3rd time going to Salon d'Artiste, however I know I will be a permanent customer. I had a true European nail service by Vicky each time I went and I LOVE MY NAILS! No more acrylic nails for me. This new trend is natural and my nails grow strong underneath with no worries about nail fungus. They NEVER chip or break. I love it! Let me preface this review by saying I've been getting my hair cut and colored here for going on 12 years now and my mom has been getting her hair cut by the owner, Loraine, since before she even opened Salon d'Artiste so this place has to be awesome for us to have stuck around for so long. Kiersten has been doing my hair for 10 years, both cut & color. She listens to what I want, gives good suggestions, and has no problem telling me when I'm being totally crazy. My color always turns out beautifully and she's never, not once, given me a bad hair cut. Ellie is a gem. she's the best threader/waxer in the area, by far. I started getting my eyebrows threaded by here only a year or two ago and, from her suggestions and expertise, my eyebrows have been completely transformed. I never knew I needed to fill in my brows... but, wow, what a difference. Both Kiersten and Ellie have given me free treatments just so I can try out something new. Vinny, well what is there to say about Vinny except he's, by far, the best manicurist on the main line. He is always attentive, he always takes his time, and he always does a near perfect, if not perfect, job. I don't know if it's him or what, but my gels stay on at least a full 2 weeks, if not more, compared to a week to a week & a half at other places. let's also note that although pricey, other salons in the area charge WAY more. read more

She booked me with Adriana. We hit it off right away. Her consultation made me feel like I was in good hands. She cut and colored my hair exactly how we discussed and throughout the appointment chatted like old girlfriends. I walked out feeling like I hadn't felt in a long time. I have been a client of Salon d'Artiste for so many years that I had no basis for comparison until I started watching Tabatha's Salon Takeover on Bravo. The show gave me a new appreciation of Salon d'Artiste and showed me just how professional and pristine it is, especially when compared to other "upscale" salons . It would definitely exceed Tabatha's high expectations! Salon d'Artiste has lots of young stylists that are up on the trends and lots of experienced stylists that offer more classic options for clients like my mom, so no matter what you can always count on a top notch hair cut. Adrianna is an amazing colorist and has given my hair everything from subtle golden highlights to bright red streaks and funky extensions. Like some of the other reviews mention, Ellie and Sherri are excellent yet kind and gentle waxers. Overall, there isn't a service that I wouldn't highly recommend at Salon d'Artiste! read more

Terry was fantastic! She tailored my facial to meet my skin's needs, walked me through the steps and was gentle on my face, while still managing to make it absolutely radiant! We worked together to accomplish both what I wanted in a facial, and what she thought was best for my (now I know, thanks to Terry) sensitive skin. She even escorted me to the product wall and described, in detail, the products she used and what would work best with my skin, in my sister's upcoming wedding. I've been to a lot of salons on the Main Line, this is by far my favourite!!! The staff is kind, courteous, and there is a warm, familial comfort the instant you walk in. I came here once and got a very mediocre haircut for a very high price. Asked for a trim with some layers because my hair can get heavy, and walked out looking like I hadn't even had my haircut. Disappointing, but felt like my hair had been fluffed more than anything else. It seems like the high price was more for the pretentious main line atmosphere than actual talent. read more

The one time I tell them my hair is NOTHING like what I wanted (highlights/cut) they told me to never come back because I "couldn't be pleased" and the stylist felt "uncomfortable". I had been going there off and on for 8 years (with no complaints) and THIS is how they treat me. Like I am replaceable and like their opinion matters more than mine. I have been going to Salon d'Artiste for more than 15 years - so obviously a loyal customer. I can't vouch for all the staff, only the 2 stylists I have used. The stylist I go to now is terrific - Maryanne. Previously I had used another stylist who retired - also great. Maryanne does my color, and is super expert at that (wonderful color), and also does great cuts. I have also used their manicurist, Yana - again, manicure & pedicure lasted for a very long time, and were really well done. read more

I cannot recommend this salon highly enough. All the staff are professional and incredibly accommodating. And if you need a WAXING appointment, there is no one better then Ellie, who also knows how to THREAD for those individuals who prefer this method. Ellie is incredibly professional, kind, and always manages to squeeze her clients in at the last-minute if necessary. Since moving to the Wayne area, I have only gone to her for waxing. She even makes a bikini wax practically painless, which I didn't think was possible. Again, I highly recommend Salon d'Artiste (and Ellie in particular). They claim on their answering machine they are the premier salon on the main line. What a bunch of lies! The manager is cheap, she must want to retire or hurt the owner because she won't by mints anymore for the staff or the clients. They were the best when they were in Spread Eagle Village, now I can see why Mrs. Hamilton got rid of them. She saw how low class the manager is and is putting the salon in to the ground. Terri the massage therapist is not even licensed to perform reflexology or massaging, because the manager is too cheap to send her to school and she still has this woman illegally performing massages. My wife sees her stylist there and likes her, but I detest waiting for her and I no longer can wait inside for her. The furniture has holes in it, it is used and it is not welcoming to sit in the terrible dirty waiting area. Too cheap to even have the tv on for those of us waiting, not even a newspaper! No bottled water dirty glasses, they don't even think of sanitary/cleanliness for their staff or clients. The two younger girls at the front desk are warm, friendly and attractive and they make the front area. They are not gossiping like the older one and always have a smile and laugh. Some of the stylists are nice and I even spoke with a hair restorer who was a delight, she should go to another salon , since she may lose her business staying there. I do not usually write negative reviews, however, this place is going to the zoo and it is sad to watch all because of management which is very obvious to see when you have owned your own business. read more
