Due to lack of things to do, I've really dug deep to finish these drafts of venues that aren't just in another city from the past, but also places that don't even exist anymore. Ame thankfully still stands right near the Wayne train station off Lancaster Avenue (Route 30). This was where I officially started committing to a hair stylist. My beginnings with Ame was when they were known as Pastore over in King of Prussia, and of course I followed them over to Wayne later on down the line. Here, they obviously expanded by offering more treatments which I was able to take advantage of. Back then, the upstairs area had the treatment rooms for massages, facials, etc. There was a really cool thing they offered which made one feel as though they were floating; might have even been called 'Float'. During downtime while there, one of the girls let me get in and try it out, and other than the sound of the device whirring up as it inflated, you felt weightless. The wave-designed Japanese soaking tub sounded amazing, but if you're on the smaller side, this wasn't very comfortable as you tried staying afloat in the large tub. This floor also had the locker room with the steam shower, relaxation area, and nail room. During this time, the upper loft area had a very calm atmosphere, and was used mostly for private parties. I even had a makeup application here once which was pretty good, and I still have the eyeshadow brush to this day, so the quality held up pretty well. But what I really came for was for their hair stylists. Best of all, I just recently checked out their site and the girl who cut my hair still works here! Quite rare when you see someone in the same space so many years later, but I'm glad Brandy is still doing an amazing job in her area of expertise. I recall the last haircut I had here was actually from another girl; Brandy might have been on her honeymoon at this time but I remember I was sad I had missed her. If I'm ever in this area and in need of a haircut, I am making sure I get to see her to make up for lost time. Tried Calista Grand, Toppers (do they even still exist?) and other well-known spas in the area, and I'm glad to see my favorite Ame is still around. read more

Just called to cancel and was willing to pay the fee etc. I don't like to cancel and know it affects the person providing the service. However, the person answering the phone was extremely rude and unpleasant. She even accused me of lying. As someone representing the salon on the phone, this turned me off for making any future appointments with them. The massage therapists and hair stylists are great. It's a shame that the person at the front desk can't be kind and pleasant. read more

Very unprofessional and the manager has no professional etiquette towards the clients and extremely rude!!! We went to AME salon for consultation with Heather for my daughter's partial hair colored. Before then, my daughter's hair had it partially colored from another salon but wanted the rest of her hair colored by Heather so it can blend in I made appointment with Heather for my daughter to have her hair colored. A few days before, I called the salon to ask Heather if any concerns of the hair being damaged since my daughter is only 16. No one called me back until someone called the day of the appointment, to confirm the appointment and then 2 hours before the appointment, Heather called me and left a message to text her. I texted if she can assured me if my daughter's hair will be damaged or not. She immediately CANCELED my daughter's appointment, and said she wouldn't take any liabilities. Really? She didn't have a common decency to call me back before then and an hour before the appointment, she canceled my daughter's appointment. Who does that? When I called the AME salon to see why, the manager, Jessica was extremely RUDE and LOUD. She was yelling at me like I was nothing! All she kept saying was, "YOU NEED TO LISTEN TO ME". All I said was Heather didn't have to assure me, we'll take the fall and sign the waiver. I even told her that I work in a medical office and know about liabilities. But they canceled our appointment at the last minute anyway. I left work early so I could go to my daughter's appointment. They should've let us know days before so we can make appointment at another salon and not wasting my time Why didn't they tell us that before or better yet, call us back. They are the hair specialist, so they said, people can't ask questions about their concerns or what to expect? This spa was made to do spa business and it does it impeccably, with true flow and consistency of top notch environment and services. When looking for places to enjoy a full spa day, the Main Line has a lot to offer and takes some time to research. I liked that AME had clear services and website with none of the "vague what on earth does super refreshing elite" names or trendy of the moment fad treatments that I see a lot of places. They also answered the phone quickly and the appointment person was extremely thorough and polite. Parking- it's right between the Wayne train station and 30. There's a lot of parking. Not much free. Small price to pay somewhat but still an extra price. The space is close to flawless. From the moment you step in you can tell design, lighting, flow everything was genuinely put thought into for making this a luxurious space to relax and feel taken care of. Everyone I interacted with (which was a handful, I was there for a few services) was completely ready to help and guide. The downstairs is the main salon area and the upstairs was for the spa services and much quieter. The waiting room is perfect- small with water and fresh fruit, chairs with pillows AND blankets. The changing room is also small but fully kitted out. The lockers to get your roe and flip flops go in sizes and while the sizes say only XL, I felt it would have fit 2X or 3X without an issue. They have a fully kitted dressing table to re set your hair, towels, and shower caps. The shower stalls were dark but the steam was again that extra added touch you get everywhere in AME to let you know this is a spa day. My services included their signature Japanese bath, a swedish massage, and a cut and style. The bath takes some maneuvering and at first I seemed silly- I can get a bath at home! But the jets (which took a moment to reset but they knew what to do and got them working fine) and depth and simply being in a quiet spa experience quickly had me soaked in relaxation. There were snacks of dried fruits and nuts and water handy- I didn't get breakfast so this was even more appreciated. The massage after was also excellent. With hot towels and choice of scented oils, no place was left unsmoothed and very good care taken in body positioning and pressure adapting. I get a lot of massages, I don't get a lot where I finish feeling fully attended. This was full attention. Finally I had a cut and dry. My stylist had been there a few years and very enthusiastic. She listened but wasn't afraid to offer her expect advice and had me consider options WITHOUT trying to pressure a choice. I felt like it was a collaboration and came out of it thrilled she was willing to give her own ideas because they worked wonderfully. How much more praise can I give? Timeliness, cleanliness, pricing very reasonable given what you are provided. My only suggestions would be to install an elevator to allow people with mobility issues to get up the spa floor and to post on the website that gratuity is cash only. I was told by my appointment person right off so was prepared, but it's just good to make sure people know going in. I might try another spa for a specific treatment they don't offer, but AME is absolutely my go to option from now on for every service. read more

I was a loyal customer to Ame for over two years. They installed four sets K-Tips extensions for me. When my stylist left the salon my fourth set of K-Tips were not of the same quality and instead of trying to correct the problem, the stylist and owner decided it was best to charge me more for her mistake. The owner reached out to me via text message and only after I had sent her several emails. I finally contacted our credit card company and received a refund. This is a sad situation. Payge was the one who seriously changed my mind about ever dying my hair at the age of 60. Not only is she very talented in what she does but she is so professional and kind. I was looking for a nice spa to get a massage on my birthday and I read some good reviews on AME Spa. My mom and I got the Good Chi massage with the Himalayan Stone add on. My masseuse Lulu did an excellent job and always made sure I was comfortable. I had some tightness in my lower back and she did a great job of working out the knots. Jackie was my mom's masseuse and my mom said she was personable and the service was very relaxing. The rooms are clean and beautifully decorated with a real zen vibe. The staff was super friendly and attentive and gave us swag bags for coming. They do temperature checks when you arrive among other COVID-19 safety measures. I was extremely disappointed with my experience and my cut at Ame salon. First and foremost, I walked into the salon, on time, and was immediately given attitude by my stylist who claimed that I was late. The stylist only apologized after I showed them the text that confirmed by time and then checking in with the front desk. Furthermore I was extremely disappointed with my cut, I was very specific as to what I wanted, and it was clear that my stylist was either lazy or inexperienced with cutting long hair. I ended up with not only an uneven cut, but also the exact opposite of what I asked for. I clearly stated that I did not want a blunt cut, then received a blunt cut with minimal layers throughout, and a poorly executed angle in the front. Throughout my cut, my stylist maintained a crooked middle part and only fixed what was a very obviously uneven angle when I pointed it out. I have seen other women who have left this salon with great cuts, and have previously heard great things, but I would not recommend going to this salon if you have long hair. My cut was not worth the $80 I spent on it, and the additional money I will likely spend when I get it corrected. read more

I started going to this salon over a decade ago. Loved it . Then my stylist left. Ugh. I accepted someone I didn't know on my next visit ( by the way- I was every 5 weeks religiously). The woman they gave me- I was not a fan. So l left for several years. Now I'm actually living IN Wayne so I thought I would give them another try- ONLY NOW- I am fighting Breast Cancer ( literally my last surgery was August 1). So since diagnosed in 10/17- life has been DIFFICULT. Hair??? Always takes a back seat. I can wake up and maybe I can actually get TO the salon, but can tell in no way can I sit for hours. So after discussing my color concerns with the front desk, the assigned me to Amanda- she sounded FABULOUS. Unfortunately I had to cancel. I had another appointment for today- I was so excited! I had my pictures to show her. I showed them to my husband. I was totally looking forward to this appointment which was just color and I had another appointment on Friday for cut ( because she didn't have the time to do both on the same day- which I didn't mind). What I wasn't expecting was a routine trip to the dermatologist- yesterday-where she BIOPSIED MY FOREHEAD TWICE and one in the hairline. Ame opened at 9am, I called at 9:30 ( I tend to get a little sick in the morning- so forgive my half hour). I apologized and explained about the unexpected biopsies. They said fine. Then a little bit later I called and said I also was scheduled for a cut on Friday which won't work for the same reason. LATER- I get a voicemail saying I have canceled on Amanda 3X ( today and Friday were for the same reason! Today and Friday were because SHE made it two appointments and bc I live so close, I said fine!) Anyway, from now on if I wanted my hair done my appointment would no longer be taken and I would be ALLOWED to call on the same day to see if there was availability. BREAST CANCER AND SKIN CANCER- NOT GOOD ENOUGH REASONS TO CANCEL A HAIR APPOINTMENT. As we are about to begin BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH, I would say to my fellow Pink Ribbon Gals- PASS ON THIS SALON! Actually if a salon is so uncaring and ladies can't be there for their other ladies when they are going through Hell? Lots and lots of other salons on the Main Line. read more

I've been a regular customer of Ame Salon and Spa for the past three years and I can say without a doubt that their level of professionalism and range of services is unparalleled. As a male customer, I have never once felt uncomfortable in a business setting such as a salon that usually caters to female clients. I have always felt welcomed and am always greeted by name upon walking through the door. I have had a number of massages by Nicole over the years and can say unequivocally that she is top notch. Her skill set is such that you will want to return as often as possible. I've had massages by a number of folks in the past and I can say that no one has come close to the quality of massage offered by Nicole. She is respectful of your time and always ensues that she is addressing any areas of concern. You will be hard pressed to find someone with her charm and intelligence. Danielle has been cutting my hair since I've been a client at Ame. The reason I continue going back to her is because she actually LISTENS to me. I've had my hair cut at a number of salons and barbers over the years and regardless of what I ask of them, they usually just chop and chop until I'm completely displeased. Danielle, from day one, took the time to ask where I wanted to go and what it specifically was I wanted to make happen. Her personality allows me to feel at ease in the chair and our back and forth is always enjoyable. Please know that I rarely write these types of reviews, but I felt compelled to write this after my last experience. My normal services are facials and massages. I love the healing stone and deep tissue. Facials I switch between the rx and active pureness. I only had one instance I was dissatisfied with my tech's service. I use all the MD skincare products so at the end of the rx facial, they normally offer the products and the tech puts them downstairs for me. At my last facial, she said that she couldn't get it for me. She gave me a slight attitude and said she #1 - doesn't do that and #2 - didn't have time. I would definitely NOT recommend them for make up. I left there looking like a hooker. No offense to hookers, but that was not the evening look I was going for. read more

I have not tried the "salon" part of Ame, however, I can definitely share with you on getting a mani/pedi and deep tissue massage. My favorite time to get a mani/pedi is during the week in the evening. The spa is usually quieter, you can bring in your favorite bottle of champagne or wine and catch up with friends. I must recommend a 90 minute deep tissue massage with Nicole! You won't want just 60 minutes...trust me. She is an expert at what she does, completely relaxes you and will use as much pressure as you need or want. I visit Nicole every 4 weeks, sometimes more. read more

Back in the day, I used to get my hair done here, and I always enjoyed the atmosphere (if a little bit snobbish due to the main line clientele, not the people that work there). I forgot about it when I moved back and when my husband told me he booked a facial and pedicure here for my birthday this year, I was pretty excited. The place hasn't really changed much over the past few years, but it's not dated or anything. My facial was lovely, even if I was slathering a bunch of chemicals on my face. It felt fabulous afterwards as did my feet after the milk and honey pedicure. I have a feeling that will become a fast favorite of mine. The staff is nice and I think the place is priced reasonably. I paid under 200 for both a facial and a pedicure. I don't think that's bad, considering I paid nearly 400 someplace else last year and it wasn't nearly as good, and I only got one extra service last year. Overall, this is a quaint little place to maintain a bit of sanity and get some much needed time away from the kids. read more

This is my second home. After living in the area for almost three years I absolutely REFUSE to go anywhere else. Coz does great hair, and Janice and Hien are GREAT for nails. The spa is on the second floor and it's absolutely lovely. The pedicure room is delightful, and they are more than happy to offer you tea, water, or wine while you soak your feet in one of the bowls. If you're looking for one of those massage chairs with the hot tub for your feet, you won't find it here. Instead you'll find a relaxing lounge with stainless steel bowls that are heated with hot rocks. AME-zing. You should go. read more

This is a lovely space for a spa. I booked a massage here and the prices are very reasonable. They have a nice repertoire of massages, and a bamboo massage that is unique to this spa, I believe. When you enter it is a full salon atmosphere, so it seems a bit loud for a spa. The spa seems like an add on upstairs, but thankfully it is a more serene environment. I love the library of books and magazines here. They also have a nice selection of product lines and special prices. I like the upstairs, which is a bit quieter and has two nice lounge chairs to wait for your treatment. The locker room is a bit small and when I was there, the steam shower was not working. I enjoyed my massage with Lauren. This is a nice spa to book treatments but I wouldn't consider it a day spa where you can lounge the whole day. read more

But it is not what I requested and my over all experience with AME was subpar to say the least. I had made an appointment for a balayage and that is not what I received. I received foils and highlights. The foils were different but I just thought it was another way to create the look and since the color salon has no mirrors I had no way of knowing what was being done. Also I would not know what the end result is since I left the salon looking like a wet rat. Now Ive only been to a few salons but everytime I've have had my hair rinsed and blowdried. After visiting their website MULTIPLE times and salon in person, I finally found the little blurb about a hair dry requiring a separate appt than coloring!!! The fact that they let paying clients out with soaking wet hair is absolutely shocking. A professional stylist should never allow they're work to leave partly completed (unless requested). And with that, after a coloring, wouldnt you like to confirm that the color is the what your client wants and they are 100% happy with it? read more

The locker room is very small with no personal changing space other than the one bathroom stall. The therapy waiting area is also cramped. Front desk is awful. I have been a customer here for many, many years and the only reason I continue to come back is because I absolutely love my stylist. However, I have experienced more than one unfriendly and downright rude receptionist. They are unsympathetic to the difficulty in scheduling especially when stylists have different days on and off and customers work full time. When I called to schedule my most recent appointment, I asked for them to go through a few options of what appointments were available and the girl on the phone made a comment about the phone call taking too long. Not to mention that she did not even give me the right days that my stylist was working that week. Today I called because I wanted to have an extra treatment, and was not sure what I needed or what to ask for. The woman answering the phone today was completely condescending and unfriendly. She spoke to me in a completely unacceptable tone, especially since I was asking questions due to my inexperience with having to come back. It is completely reasonable for customers to have questions, and completely unreasonable to assume that customers will know how much knowledge and understanding a receptionist has about hair treatment processes. I've worked in retail, and the customer is ALWAYS right. It's time for the support staff at Ame to learn this lesson. They are the customer's first experience of the facility, and right now it is NOT a good one. I hate to have to give this place 2 stars because I truly do love my stylist... but until they get this staffing situation right, I won't be recommending to anyone else. read more

Some family and I had pedicures here while in town for a wedding. Got the warm honey wrap for a few bucks more. It was a nice building altogether, every floor was nicely decorated and it was welcoming and there were the frou-frou place obligatory complimentary cucumber-infused water, tea, and snacks. The woman on the phone when I booked was very nice. Oddly, despite telling her AND the lady at the front desk when we arrived that we were from out of town, they had us fill out contact sheets. Only 3 stars because it was sooooo expensive for a pedicure, and the honey wrap was fine but not life-changing, and the technicians were just not that friendly. Maybe they wanted to keep it peaceful but my lady looked like she was bored and annoyed when I put my foot in the water by mistake instead of on the towel... And the paint selection and paint job was similar enough to my local place, which charges less than half of what they charge. Would recommend this place if you have the cash to blow. Ame is a great Spa and Salon. I first went to Ame with a friend and got a facial. It was great. After that I brought my fiance here as my wedding gift to him to get a couples massage. We kept coming back after that. This place got us hooked on getting regular massage. Ame has a very tranquill atmosphere which puts you in the right mood for a massage. I did use their salon right after my wedding. It was the best haircut I ever got to this day. I've never spent that much for a haircut but it was totally worth it. You change into a smaller robe to get your hair washed and cut. The stylest was great (sorry, I don't remember names). Currently, my husband and I have moved away from Philadelphia. We both miss Ame because it was the best experience we've had with massages. Haven't found a place that matches up here in Charlotte, NC. read more

I have generally had good experiences here, although I have gone through a few stylists. They always end up doing something I don't like. But I am very particular, and my hair is sort of difficult to manage. I actually frequent a few different salons, pending my need and mood. I come here every now and then when I want to get pampered; I know their stylists are well-trained, and they are pretty current on their stuff. I've had amazing highlights done here, but it cost an arm and a leg, which is draw back. However, the high cost is is expected because of the location. As far as the spa services, I have had a few treatments, and they were fine. Nothing memorable though. read more

I had an amazing experience at AME! My sister recommended it to me after switching from our old hair salon. I don't get my hair cut often because I like it long and usually just trim myself, but I can't wait to go back to AME! My stylist Lindsay was incredibly friendly and professional, and an amazing stylist. She took my broken, brittle, and dull hair and turned it into a runway look!! I couldn't have been happier. And it was only a cut! It was reasonably priced as well, and the studio is beautiful. It's in a perfect location tucked away in Wayne away from the bustle with a full parking lot right across the alley. They even gave me a 20% off coupon for the next time I come in!
