    Baguette

For being the bakery that won an award for best baguette in 2016, I wasn't really impressed. I guess a lot can change in three years, and I'm sure there are a lot of really delicious pastries and baked goods available. I really only gave this bakery 3 stars in good faith that they have better options that I just didn't try on this visit. But one thing is for sure, I have had much better baguettes in Paris. I walked into this bakery around 6 in the evening, so granted the baguettes had probably been sitting there all day. The one I got was borderline stale, the outside crust was not very crispy, and the whole thing just lacked that delicious bready flavor. But one would hope to be able to get a fresh(er) baguette from such a reputable bakery at any time. Maybe if I go back, I'll try for earlier in the day. Additionally, there were a LOT of bees in the display case gathered on some of the fruitier looking pastries. Not something that can necessarily be avoided, but definitely didn't make me want to order anything from in there. My friend did get a coffee eclair however and he said it wasn't that good. Honestly I could tell just from looking at it that it wasn't going to be worth the price. The coffee creme stuff on top was weirdly shiny and made the whole thing look like it came out of a box or something. For comparison, I had a coffee eclair from this little no-name bakery a couple days earlier and it was delicious! Just the look of it was fresher and more professional. If you do decide to go to this place, aim for early in the day to increase your chances of success. But in the city of patisseries, I'm sure you can do better.

What an amazing patisserie we found right across the road from our hotel. We were here daily eating the most delicious croissants! Almond, chocolate their specialty croissant looks a little different from their regular croissant and you don't wAnt to miss it. I had a wonderful chicken salad sandwich there on day. Delish and staff was very friendly !

We stayed at a hotel across the street and went for breakfast every day. Great service, friendly staff and delicious food. Our French is not so great but they worked with us to figure out what we wanted to order every morning. If you're in the neighborhood this is a great place to grab a delicious pastry, croissant or sandwich. The sandwiches are so good!! The bread is delicious and whichever you get tastes amazing.

    Delicious pastries!

One of the best bakeries I went to in Paris. There were a variety of pastries and sandwiches (from eclairs to quiche to chicken sandwiches). The workers there were very helpful and patient.

View from my hotel room of excellent bakery across the street. They're baking on 2nd floor.

Stopped on our way to the Louvre, had a decent selection of pastries at a great cost. Sat outside to enjoy breakfast.

These sandwiches are curated, edible pieces of art made with love by the one and only Alain. It's easy to see why they're so popular. People love the sandwiches so much that his stall inside Marche' Des Efants Rouges can see lines lasting upwards of an hour or more. And people stay in the line. We lucked out and only had to wait about twenty minutes. I tell you, I'd wait all day if need be. I often dream of the sandwiches we had and can't wait to have them again. A picture is worth a thousand words and therefore, my photos can tell you everything you need to know about how good the sandwiches were. It makes me smile when I look at the pic of us with Alain. What a wonderful human being producing wonderful food for the people.

I had the corn beef, which was excellent, with caramalized onions and lettuce and tomato and the stronger of the two cheeses (which they let me taste test). Don't forget to specify if you want a crepe or a sandwich! I got the sandwich. The staff spoke great English but did speak to me in French (someone learning, which is always a confidence boost). There are a few tables inside, but I would suggest taking it to go in the parc near by. Don't forget to get a drink! I enjoyed the sparkling grapefruit juice. Sweet but very yummy.

I whipped out Yelp and noticed that I had Happy Caffe bookmarked. I'm not sure how it landed in my collection, but the reviews were excellent thought it would be a good option for lunch - so off we went. Happy sits right on the street - it's a super small space with barely any room inside and several tables outside on the sidewalk. They did a good job making room for us - I have to say they mastered the art of optimizing what little space they have but even still be prepared for a tight fit. The menu has a selection of baked good, crepes, and sandwiches. We asked the employee working behind the counter what they recommended and he suggested the kebab panini as he sells many of them every day. We decided to each get one, which was served promptly. The sandwich wasn't my favorite - the chicken seemed a little off, and it wasn't that tasty. I wouldn't say it was awful, but I also wouldn't order it again. Looking back, perhaps I ordered the wrong thing (despite it being recommended to me). I'm puzzled by all these 5-star reviews - maybe the crepes are better? Two stars for the friendly and attentive service, but I would bypass this spot next time I'm in Paris.

Charcuterie did come with good presentation like wood board or anything but it was a good portion. I didn't read the menu closely and ordered charcuterie as soon as saw it. I wanted to have some cheese with it. I should have ordered assiette royale which comes with both meat and cheese. I also ordered Andrea which comes with burrata. It was great with salad and lemon shavings but anchovies were pretty salty. I suggest to eat it with some kind of bread. Between that two orders, I was stuffed and couldn't even finish it. Honestly it was meant for 3 to 4 people. One of the employees speak English and she was very nice. Overall experience was great and good spot to hang out.

We sat outside at one of their small table on the street. It reminded me of eating street foods in Asia; except this is in Paris. Service was good but could be better if they can explain us what to order on their menu. I liked the Burrata which was creamy with tangy salad and anchovies. It was a great appetizer for us. Charcuterie came with a paper box in to-go or take-out style. It had variety of cured meat slices. Meats had good flavors, textures, tastes from salty to spicy and tangy from lemon slices. It was good to pair with Burrata. Recommend this place in Paris!
