A delicious ladies' lunch spot just next to Victor Hugo that is perfect for vegans and vegetarians. D.S. Café serves giant bowls of goodness with yummy dressing, a variety of avocado toasts (to cater to its American hipster crowd? This section of the menu was a little too much), club sandwiches, a variety of fresh mixed juices, and tea and coffee.
The prices were reasonable for the quantity and location (I spent 30€ on a fresh-squeezed juice, a giant tuna poké bowl, and a cappuccino). The juice, an "énergisant" with apple, carrot, and ginger, was served in a large mason jar with a handle and ice cubes. The ice cubes neither watered it down nor seemed to reduce the quantity, which was pleasing. My tuna poké bowl consisted of quinoa, tuna tartare, chiogga beets, edamame, sliced avocado, cubed mango, cucumber, and sesame. The soy-wasabi dressing topped it off perfectly.
The cappuccino, which I ordered with almond milk for a 2€ supplement) had a great foam-to-coffee ratio, and the milk was actually foamy! Usually almond milk seems to disperse unappetizingly throughout the mug, but the guys at DS got it right.
My luncheon friends were also happy with their bowls and juices--and apparently the ice cream dessert hit the spot (it certainly looked amazing). The atmosphere was fine, too: white tables and cushioned booths, with a purified décor that didn't detract from the beauty of the colorfully composed dishes. read more
