It's part of a gas station property but no importa! We felt like we were sitting in a local restaurant in Ensenada (not the tourist area). The facilities were modern, very clean and the staff, very kind and helpful. The food was delicious with the majority of the patrons being from Latino descent. We ordered chips with queso, 2 tamale and taco meals and a Carne Asada. Tasty, moist and flavorful tamales (one chicken and one pork with mild red sauce) as well as delicious tacos (Al pastor and birria). I've heard good things about the mole sauce but they were sold out of it. The steak was a little tough but the flavor was delicious. Honorable mention to the rice and beans and guacamole! Wow wow wow. The portions were really great also. So much so I needed a box for my taco. Overall great value with a lunch meal for 3 with an appetizer for about $50 bucks. I don't often find myself in this direction, but had bookmarked the place because they have vegan tamales. We stopped by at breakfast-time and ordered: breakfast burrito: flavorful and good, plus easily split into 2 meals. comes with chips or fries. Fries were perfectly cooked and had a tasty seasoning on them. $13-14 breakfast plate: This was ok. It's billed as a scramble but is griddle scrambled and the eggs were very very hard cooked. I would prefer an overdone egg than a soft egg, so that was ok, but I would order them differently if I returned. There were lots of tomatoes, peppers and onions which was nice for flavor, but there were so many that there weren't many "curds" of scrambled eggs if that makes sense. The refried beans might be the tastiest I've ever had. The rice was "ok". The soft corn tortillas were very fresh. If not housemade, these are coming in every day for sure. $13-14 Rajas and cheese tamales: Didn't try these because of the cheese, but they were medium sized and smelled good $4 each Vegan black bean tamales: These come in banana leaves, which I've not had before. I could do without the flavor of the leaf, which is actually pronounced (this surprised me). The masa was lovely and the black bean filling was delicious and well seasoned. I like to pan fry my tamales to reheat and they were stellar the next day. $4 each The staff was friendly and handled accommodations (no dairy, corn tortillas instead of flour) smoothly. Honestly probably one of the worst Mexican foods we have ever eaten in the area. The tamales were dry and mostly cornmeal. The tacos meats and the beans were overly salty and needed seasoning. I stopped by here after a liquid fast of 14 days, these las 5 being only water and the food sat sooo good in my stomach. It was delicious and the service was amazing. We were in Duluth on a Sunday and happened upon a festival of sorts in the town square with various vendors. I spotted the word "tamale" on the tent and was immediately drawn there. There was a small line which told me that it must be something good. I ordered the birria and pork tamales as well as a watermelon agua fresca. The woman who took my order as well as the little girl who brought the food were both very friendly. It was a short wait for the food to be ready. Both were absolutely delicious. Extremely moist with flavorful fillings. A good portion size too. I would definitely go to this brick and mortar location if I was ever in the area again. read more

Excellent tamales, excellent service, casual atmosphere. We got there immediately after a huge party had wiped out all their tamales except for the pork. Luckily they gave us a heads up immediately so there was no unpleasant surprise. There were plenty of other options on the menu. I had a craving for tamales and came here to check out the hype. I bought one sweet pineapple, one spicy pork with green sauce and one chicken mole tamale. Unfortunately, the chicken mole tamale was very dry and lacked flavor. All of the tamales were pretty small in size as well. The horchata I ordered was not homemade and tasted artificial as if it was made from a packaged powder. I would be willing to come back to try the quesabirria tacos and other flavors of tamale but I was disappointed by this visit. read more

These are the best tamales I've had anywhere! Including home made ones I've had in California, they are that good. The mole tamale was the standout, with a flavorful sauce and tender chicken. A close second was the Piña colada tamale, which was such a delight because dessert tamales are hard to find. I was so happy with the sweetness of the masa, small chunks of pineapple, and nuts for texture. The masa in all of their tamales is exceptional--moist, not dense, not dry, fluffy and does not give you the feeling of being heavy after eating. I will definitely order the tamales again. My husband had the breakfast burrito, and said it was everything a chorizo breakfast burrito should be. Enough said. :) I removed a star for the service. Unfortunately the cashier did not smile or engage with us when we came in, barely spoke and then when our order came, told me they were out of strawberry tamales and gave us an extra piña colada one instead. Which I was fine with--but good customer service would have been to ask. I also saw a trash bag with contents sitting next to the trash--not sure if they were planning to take it out? It's okay. You can tell it's authentic from the get go. Ordered the chicken quesadilla and that's all you get, a quesadilla. No side of guac, pico..nothing. My son got the nachos that were made with house made traditional chips which are harder than usually restaurant style chips. The pricing is pretty good as the quesadilla cost under $10. First time visiting this beautiful place. It is located on the corner of Old Peachtree and Satellite Blvd in Duluth. It is next to the BP Gas Station. The food is excellent! Very authentic Mexican food. The tamale bowl is awesome. Two tamales and one egg (cook your liking) is awesome. Love this order. You need to try their cucumber juice! It is sweet and tasty. The servers are very nice, friendly and professional. They speak fluent English and Spanish. This is a great place to have a good Tamales and cool beers or drinks. read more

We felt that the tamale with chicken itself was good and soft. But overall, everything was under seasoned and a bit plain. The tamale plate was the best one which was tamales with rice and beans. The tamale bowl's tamales were cold. I tried the mole one and it was a dry chicken, but I was expecting a warm sauce, which is what is to be expected for mole. The chilequiles had potential but also lacked flavor. I wish the steak was in smaller pieces. They did have a red and green sauce available to add but I don't it was mainly just adding heat. I You walk in, order at the counter, grab a number, and take a seat. They've got tacos, nachos, and all that typical Mexican stuff in case the gringos are scared of something exotic as "tamales". For me if "tamale" is in your name, might as well stick with the namesake. They got six savory options: * Mild red chicken * Mild red pork * Spicy green chicken * Spicy green pork * Mole chicken * Rajas (vegetarian) They got sweet tamales too: * Pineapple * Strawberry with raisins * weet corn You can order them individually or get a plate with two tamales, beans, and rice. Or get a taco + tamale combo with beans and rice. Your call. Beans and rice? Surprisingly good. Honestly, I didn't expect much from sides, but these were fresh and packed with flavor. But let's get back to the tamales. These guys nailed the texture: moist, not dry, not mushy. They got the balance right. The flavor? Umami, just the right amount of spice, and seasoned like they know what they're doing. My favorite is the basic mild red pork or chicken tamale. Simple, classic, and hits the spot. A friend recommended the tamales here and husband has really been enjoying them; he shared that the rice and beans are also very flavorful. I tried the carne asada tacos and the steak was flavorful. We enjoy their salsa and it's full of heeeeat. You place your order at the counter and staff will bring it to your seat. I believe you clean up yourself but it's a bit unclear. Barely any pictures cause we devoured the "taste test" lol. Next time when I eat-in I'll take pics but guao...these tamales are the real deal. Tamales have always been one of those foods where the majority of people who make them suck at it but people just accept the mediocrity cause, well, they're tamales. The parking situation is terrible. There is no ample parking since it's next to a gas station. We had to park in the shopping complex next to it, which isn't adjacent to the restaurant building. The restaurant size is spacious. It wasn't busy on a Friday afternoon during lunch. Our food came out quickly, and the cashier was friendly. The drinks are self-serve. The food is average at best. Came here with my son and his friend as their high school is just a few mins away. We got rajas, chicken with salsa verde and the dessert pumpkin spice tamale with ice cream. Both the rajas and chicken tamales were seasoned well, great masa to filling ratio and the masa was moist and not dry. The rajas was slightly spicy which I really enjoyed. The ladies at the counter were helpful and sweet and the restaurant is really clean (so is the bathroom) and spacious. The pumpkin spice tamales had pecans, whipped cream, walnuts and came with ice cream on the side. The tamales were just sweet enough, perfect texture (sort of like a crumbly firm cake tamale) and the spices incorporated were really flavorful. The ice cream was really creamy and light! Each tamale is about $3-6 depending on your filling so a very cost effective snack or meal! We will definitely be back to try more flavors. read more

One of the best if not the best tamale place that I have found in northern Atlanta. I love tamales. Ever since my college roommate introduced them to me with her grandmothers tamales from Mexico, it's been impossible to turn back. Now the question is how good are they? These tamales are legit. There's an abuela in the back manning the kitchen. They have both salty and sweet tamales. My favorite is the pork tamale with green sauce. Pork tamale with green sauce.: - Packed and serve the steaming hot. - Generous portion size for a tamale - Not stingy with the meat on the inside. Cons;- none Two tamale platter: two tamales served with refried beans and Mexican rice. Pros: - generous portion of sides - Both rice and beans were perfectly flavored. - Definitely a hefty lunch portion if you have two tamales with it. - Able to share, if you wanted to add one of the other items on the menu, such as a torta or quesadilla. Cons: - none This place was actually so good, that my parents got it two additional times after I got the first round for them. The tamales actually freeze really well and reheat by steaming. You can steam either in microwave by wrapping a wet paper towel around it, or just steaming in a steamer. I definitely wish I could buy these in bulk. The only thing that would make this absolutely the bomb, and this is more of a personal taste, would be if they had a side of white queso Blanco to dip the tamale in. I don't know what all these people are thinking giving this place 4.5 stars (as of this writing). I ordered a pork tamale and a chicken tamale. The pork tamale was pretty average. The chicken tamale was dry and had a weird texture that had me wondering if it was actually chicken. I was told their green sauce is the spicy sauce and the red sauce was mild, but it felt like the opposite to me. This place doesn't serve alcohol, so if you want a Pacifico or a Modelo with your tamales, this isn't the place. read more
