Lots of options, some unique flavors.
Cho C.

Located on the first floor of the mall, near the family restrooms and kids play area, this is a modern American style version of some Mexican treats. Lots of hand crafted ice cream bar options, corn snacks-esquite, duritos, Agua fresca drinks, and other snacks. A few things of note. If you don't speak any Spanish, you may have a hard time ordering. The one lady working that day, wasn't speaking any English, only Spanish. That's expected I suppose ordering snacks focused on Mexican treats, but definitely speak Spanish or bring a friend that can if you visit here. Cost. Because it's located in the mall, expect triple the cost if you got it outside the mall. Esquite was $9+. We spent about $65 on 6 different snacks. Decor is bright and entertaining. Kids would love to see the colorful artwork on the walls, and brightly lit. Tables were covered with churro sugar and ice cream drips, so I wish it was a little bit cleaner. Guess it is hard since there's no trash can inside the place. You eat the snack and take it outside to throw anything away. Lastly, there was an added "service" charge. It was an additional $2+ randomly on the receipt. I tried asking what the fee was about... was that a credit card fee or what? The lady didn't explain it to us, so we just let it go. Careful with additional random fees using a card. The Star drops were for the cleanliness and the extra random fee. I "may" come back if I absolutely crave the treats, but the fees and cost of going here is going to hold some people back no matter how tasty the treats were.

Absolutely love this place. They have a great assortment of ice cream that is water based and also milk based. Definitely love their water based piña con chamoy (Pineapple w/Chili -not spicy but with a little hit). The esquite (corn in a cup) has mayo, cheese and chili.. all upon request. Definitely a must try while you're shopping at the mall and need a little something to keep going.

I'm not typically up for icecream but my wife is prego and her cravings were going on. As soon as I walked in the vibe was placid with good music. The amount of ice cream to choose from is Amazing. I highly recommend coming in and enjoying it for yourself. Gabby was great and very patient even though my wife got 10 things lol.

Ana the rude worker

Ana who works here acts like she can't speak not a single once of English.. and she is super rude and just has a nasty look on her face the whole time. If you speak to her in Spanish she still has a nasty look on her face.. so idk what it is.. maybe she hates her job? Find a new one then & they are expensive! My daughter got a ice cream in a cup with a cone on top and she charged us 1$ for the cone that comes with the ice cream

Gummy bear lemonade paleta and chocolate banana paleta

They have other locations and I believe their store in the Brea mall is still relatively new, but they remain consistent. They always have a large selection of flavors to choose from. I particularly enjoy their paletas with their gumny bear lemonade one and their ferrero rocher paleta being my favorite. Something to note would be that they definitely did a good job at hiring staff. The lady that was working that day was really kind and explained the flavors that weren't in English well. I think nowadays, there are less reltail/food workers that are polite in general. So when someone is polite, it's much appreciated.

We're always excited to try new flavours and figure out our best personal combinations. The people there are so smiley, and helpful! I admire how enthusiastic they stay even during evenings when there is a long line. I'd have to say there's always a very faint stranger odor in the place. Almost like spoiled milk. It's damp, warm and very faint. The fan that turns on when someone opens the door is obnoxiously loud too. The last time we went, we had lemon and grape nerds in a quart. Brought it back home for our weekly snack. Unfortunately, I found pieces of plastic in the lemon part. I thought it'd just be a single piece so I continued eating, and realized they were spread throughout. I also thought it might be the skin of the lemon. So, we washed it, pulled it and it definitely did not break like lemon skin, but stretched like plastic. Other than that, love Rita's

Blue Scoop Creamery was such a great first visit, but Cece really deserves the shoutout here…read more Located in a plaza in Brea close to the freeway, this spot is easy to get to and has plenty of parking, including several 15-minute spots out front for quick takeout. The shop itself was very clean, spacious, and had plenty of seating. Even the bathroom was clean, which always stands out to me. They had 18 flavors available during our visit, including several vegan options, and it looks like they rotate flavors often based on all the flavor signs down the hallway. I also liked learning that their original Yorba Linda location is where all of the ice cream is made from scratch. Definitely makes me want to check that one out next. That said, Cece made the whole experience. We told her it was our first time and she was so friendly, patient, and welcoming from the jump. She let us try multiple flavors, gave us recommendations, pointed out the popular picks, and never once made us feel rushed. That kind of service really sticks with you, especially at a place with a lot of tempting options. She made the experience feel fun, easy, and genuinely hospitable, so shoutout to Cece for making a first visit feel like we'd been there before. We ended up doing the flight of 6 mini scoops to share, which was perfect for first-timers. We tried mint chippy chip, salted caramel, nana's banana pudding, Irish coffee, pot o gold, and Turkish pistachio. Great flavors, clean space, and excellent service. Blue Scoop is definitely worth checking out, and Cece absolutely made this visit a memorable one. Easy 5 stars.

This location is further away from me, yet I sometimes make it a stop for me if I go to a restaurant or shop in this plaza. This visit, I tried their matcha milkshake-- loved how it had that signature taste of honey with a light matcha taste. It literally tasted like their true milk ice creams but in a sippable form. My go to's for their true milk ice creams are the sweetie (ice cream with honey) or their dear caramel for a sweeter treat (ice cream with caramel and sea salt). Service was decent-- fast service and order came out quickly. I considered to try their chestnut milkshake, but neither of the workers tried it so they couldn't really give me a flavor profile or true recommendation on if it was good or not. Price point is average, but for their ice creams may be on the pricier end for the size. Ambiance is so cute at night with the light bulbs!

We placed our order and then the remainder of the line was placing their orders and since we ordered taiyaki I knew we would have to wait but they didn't start making our taiyakis until 6 groups who were behind us were served their orders first THEN they started making ours. So basically we've been waiting in here for like 20 + mins now for something that shouldn't take more than 5 max 10 mins. Once we got our taiyakis they were BURNT. I asked for new ones and Karina said no it's just Nutella. Sorry but no... this was our worst experience at a somi somi and I love the flavors and what they have to offer at this chain but honestly the service here is really bad.
